.....at 26 going on 27 yrs of age, is he likely to change his wayward ways off the pitch, or be coachable to remove the repeated errors that are so costly, and seem to be entrenched in his play? I'm not so sure. |

Thought the Araenal fans were pretty rank tonight. Their players spent most of the night trying to get their own fans up. |

Yes agree with you on that assessment. We also have Jackie Milburn and Bobby Ferguson with a Geordie link. But I think SBR is the massive drawing together of the two sets of fans. They're a one football club, city/ town but dwarf us in terms of population. It's interesting they've never gone down the root of a soulless modern stadium, because with a population of over 800k they could easily fill a 75k stadium I'm sure. Geordies are grounded about football and maybe the sociofrmographic of Newcastle / Northumberland means there's no airs and graces or entitlement about their fans, which i love. I'd happily sit amongst them wearing my Town shirt and not really fear any retribution. I'm definitely hoping they get over the line for Champions League..... |

The whole squad and Mckenna stood for ages, clapping us.... absolutely loads of Geordie fans stood and applauded us Toen fans at the end of the game, and when we sing, "There's only one Bobby Robson". There's genuine affinity between the two sets of fans. Loads of them were saying you vome straight back up ( before the game). One guy saw me and my friend walking away after the game wearing our Town shirt, and stopped us and simply said... " That's some support you had here today,". Such a friendly and genuine bunch of fans tbh .... I wish thrm well in the Champions League ( assuming they'll make it )... |

But why are so many of our players getting injured? Is it training intensity, physical characteristics of our players, bad luck? Out of those possible factors, only the last one, bad luck is not changeable. I hope the club take a serious look at both intrinsic and extrinsic factors for next season, because you're right, the level of injuries, and the types of injuries our players keep getting needs looking at. Maybe we simply recruit players that are skillful, but lack the physical attributes to cope with the rigours of the modern game. |

I’ve stopped overnight at a premier Inn in Pontefract, ( shorter journey tomorrow )…. Just wondering how many Budgies I’m likely to encounter on the A1 tomorrow now….. |

All the talk about the Plastic League being so athletic and physical and were not able to compete makes me smile. Ipswich Town have never a side that has copious amounts of physicality about it. We were often out muscled in the Championship and League One. We're largely powder power in any challenges. Our players either don't know how to tackle effectively or we just recruit really lightweight players. I can vividly recal the derby games v scum where our players were just woeful in any challenge. It's been like it at this club gor years in my view, do it's not just the PL. |
 | Forum Reply | Davis a possible target at 08:45 24 Apr 2025
Tbf I think it’s rare you see a player playing in the wing back role that is strong both offensively as well as defensively. They tend to be better at one or the other. McKenna went for David becysse it’s fitted his tactic of offensive (focus) play. If Davis stays with us he will undoubtedly be a big threat at championship level again, but if we get promoted back to PL unless his defending attributes improve he will be found wanting again. If you look st his defending toke in the championship he was often caught out of position, but that’s because McKenna wants him to get forward so much. It’s virtually impossible to do both roles 100% effective all the time. |

Davis is great as a wing back, but defensively is far weaker. If he goes I won’t lose any sleep as long as Townsend stays ( who can also put in a decent cross btw) as he’s a far more accomplished left back in my humble opinion. |

He's better out if it i think. Health means everything, and he's not been a well man. Not that, that's why they've sacked him. |
