I remember this news piece when Hurst was questioned on the extent of changes and seems to suggest that Evans was a bit shocked and questioned the pace of change also - but clearly backed his new manager at the time.

Thread | A landmark win today?

Loved the win today. It felt like a cup final and we showed plenty of steal at the back.
Lovely to score a goal from 5 yards or so from a cutback - it felt like i haven't seen one of those for a long time!
Skuse, Colins, Elder, Keane all completing the 90 seems a massive achievement for these players given their recent histories.
Hopefully this new look side can take all the learning from this game into the next.
I was also particularly happy (in a weird kind of way) to see Lambert being able to bring a defender on to see out the game. I think I'm right in saying that this is the first time he has brought a defender on as a sub since joining us, although I appreciate that most previous games we've been past this point. |

Leadership needs to come from all areas of the pitch, but the problem at the moment is that we've just not got the numbers with any sort of significant experience of Championship level football. As we all know, the Championship is an unforgiving league and opposing teams work on this weakness and keep chipping away at us until we break under the pressure of the play or the situation.
Lambert said that we're replacing kids with kids and we are. |

I think that’s very true. Hurst clearly wanted to stamp his mark on the club.
“I can remember talking to Marcus and saying what I was hoping to do and I think he was quite shocked and was thinking, ‘that is for another time’.

The thing is, looking at the team which was picked today it’s difficult to identify more than 3 senior players (Chambers, Sears and Gerken) with any significant experience at Championship level. |
