I got to page 2 before it was pulled.
What did I miss ?

That’s interesting. Why do you question Sumner? I recall there’s abit of beef there but from what I remember in the book he doesn’t go all out on Hook.
I found it fascinating as BS tells the story of the evolution of New Order from Joy Division. That weird in between bit after Curtis died and then the band exploring and being influenced by the New York club scene in the early 80’s and bringing it over here and in their music.
It’s been a while since I read it but it always sticks out as a really memorable book. Shame there is no audio version for you

If you ever get the chance… pick up Bernard Sumner’s autobiography. It was one of the best autos I have ever read and I’ve read quite a few autos!
Also.. have you seen Peter Hook and the Light live? Half Joy D, half New Order. And he can carry off the Joy D stuff off superbly. If you shut your eyes you can really be taken there.
I believe Hooks son also performs in the band with him too (or at least did when I saw them)

Well that is very helpful thank you. With your advice in mind, I'll turn off the laptop and go enjoy the football and the sunshine for the next 3 weeks.
I'll make sure you get an acknowledgment in the opening page of my paper.

Cheers bud but I ain't there yet.
But if I do get through this unscathed, I will be contacting the council to replace that mighty fine statue of the fisherman with bird sh*t on his head on the Bascule Bridge with one of me. You can get an honourable mention in the plaque attached to it.
Or name the new bridge that is being built in my honour.. when it will no doubt get completed in the year 2099.

I'm currently on an MA with about 3 weeks left until my dissertation is due in and I'm struggling to be honest. So close to the end but feel like its all unravelling. Not helped by the fact that the feedback I got on a section of it might as well have said 'THIS IS SH*T in capital letters edited as a comment on the side of the document.
Of course, I'm just trying to plough through but I don't really 'believe' in my work any more so to speak, and I'm having a confidence crises.
Just give me a pass so I can move on with my life. I'm looking forward to this all blowing over and going for a pint in 3 weeks time.

I think you should have given this gentleman a chance (or a ‘virtual’ round of beers as you stated it) rather than shooting him down

I don’t go out my way to listen to any ITFC related podcast, but I did make a point of watching the TT ones they did with each of the the owners and I really enjoyed them. They appear to have a good relationship with the new owners which really shone through in the interview, so it is disappointing to that they can’t show a modicum of class and professionalism in the way that they carry themselves, which I dare say puts me off watching them again

In terms of packed out attendances in the SPL for when Rangers and Celtic come to town then yes.
It does open up the possibility of a more competitive SPL, not only in SPL titles but the availability for European spots as a result of Rangers and Celtic not occupying them.
I guess Rangers and Celtic would have to consider whether the trade off between guaranteed participation in the European competitions would outweigh (or not outweigh) being in the premier league with all the tv money etc. If they both nail it in the prem they could be on to a winner financially, reputation etc
On a personal level though, I feel it would be fascinating to have them both in there. Especially if one does better than the other one.

|Whereabouts does ‘the north’ become ‘the north?’|
at 09:59 22 Apr 2021
This reminds me of a debate I had at uni with a Mackem. He was so passionate about the fact that he felt Manchester was in the midlands he fell out with us for days about it.
|Following on from the 'where does the North start' thread|
at 09:57 22 Apr 2021
It was straight after Millwall played a pre season friendly against Lowestoft Town FC 'up the medda' in the late 1960's that their fans adopted the 'Noone likes us.. we don't care' and the rest as they say is history
Coincidence? I think not.
Did I just make that up? Yes I did.
