I watched the Man City away game on a fire stick (shoot me) and for the first 5 mins of the game it was just looked totally bizarre to see Ipswich playing Man City at the Etihad in a premier league match, it didn’t almost look real. And then we scored too and it completed that feeling. |

Cheers everyone for the insightful responses so far, with some good advice. I would just like to add that since I posted this thread, one of them opened a cereal bar but immediately dropped it on the floor, breaking it into two pieces. They no longer want a perfectly good 50p cereal bar cause its broken in two, and demanding another one…so you can add my feelings of petty annoyance alongside my feelings of terror for the future ! Thanks for the post. I hear you about not having a care in the world prior to children. That was me too. I think the biggest change for me as well that I didnt see coming how having kids just totally changes your perspective and viewpoint on life. I’m definitely more sensitive these days and I can’t help extrapolate tragedy/tragic events or whatever I’ve heard on the news into “what if that had been my children etc”. All this worry… They better come visit me when I’m old and drive me to Town games when I am no longer able to! [Post edited 3 Mar 11:45]

Is that today I can keep these beautiful little angels safe, but in the future, in some way or another, I won’t be able to keep them safe (ranging anything from bullying, the internet, illness to climate change, threat of or actual war etc) Its truly phenomenal how they turn your world upside down, and in those anxious feelings you have about the future, it really reflects what it really means to be a father/parent. Anyway, not really sure why I’m really posting this on here. I think sometimes this feeling just unexpectedly creeps up on me in a really big way, as it has done this morning. Kids, hey. I agree with this. I recall the time when my Nan was as old as my dad is now, and they are a million miles apart in everything. In fact, my Nan at 85 was exactly the same in my head at the same age she was 67 (the current age of my dad) |

Is news outlets using sensationalist headlines and words to describe incidents/events. I.e. the evacuation of Birmingham airport.. with one news outlet using the word “chaos” as people are being evacuated from the terminals. Here is a definition of chaos a state of utter confusion or disorder 1. a state of utter confusion or disorder; a total lack of organization or order. However, in the videos I’ve seen, people are complying with orders to evacuate and despite the natural sense of nervousness, they are responding in a calmly and orderly fashion to leave the terminals etc. I do think we are often short changed by modern day news reporting and no wonder modern day society lives in a heightened state of hyper vigilance. Makes me wonder where it’s all going if we don’t all eat ourselves beforehand. [Post edited 23 Oct 2024 14:53]

 | Forum Reply | Something just occurred to me… If you had a child who attends Hogwarts at 13:56 13 Oct 2024
I take your point about the first day routine if your child is a year 1 student, and to make friends etc However, come year 2, your child would have made their mates after being shacked up with them for a year already, so it does feel all a bit unnecessary to be honest. You mention port key. I’d be encouraging them to do that year 2 onwards to save the faff. Also, didn’t Harry and co take a flying car to hogwarts once? Surely thats against wizarding rules as you arent supposed to use magic in the muggle world? Its all rather nonsensical if you ask me. |

And you lived in Scotland or northern England, you would be pretty cheesed off if you had to take your child all the way down to Kings Cross to board the Hogwarts Express just for them to travel all the way up north again to the Scottish Highlands where Hogwarts is. Surely its not beyond the realms of magic to add a few more stops en route to Scotland , is it? [Post edited 13 Oct 2024 19:13]

One of my best mates is now mates with Tyson Fury as a result of working with him professionally in the media. I did a speed awareness course with Bill Turnbill after he got caught speeding shortly after he moved to Suffolk to become a bee keeper. Bill nigh was a regular at my nans pub in Leiston. They exchanged Christmas cards for many years afterwards. |

I loved how one of them commented that Norwich live rent free in our heads.. a comment that was made by a poster who was watching Ipswich vs Villa whilst commenting on a thread relating to Ipswich which is currently 20 odd pages long. [Post edited 30 Sep 2024 23:43]

Hats off to you sir. There was a fella in some ITFC content that I watched recently who comes from Paris for every home game. And I thought me coming from Lowestoft was a chore! |
