Not looking good for FM25

Does anyone remember the version where the only team you couldn't manage was ipswich? CM4 maybe?

Here's a mad idea
at 06:28 6 Feb 2025

We've lost burns and ogbene and have no high right winger who's right-footed.

What if we do the exact opposite and play with a high left-footed left winger. Leif becomes wes burns. Then you'd have to do the opposite to what we currently do with full backs. The right-sided full back needs to overlap and the left needs to stay home like tuanzebe does now. Johnson right back, greaves left back, which gives us a good excuse to play cam burgess next to o'shea again.

Genius.

Hence why we were trying so hard to spend big on broja as well as delap.

What do people see as our strongest eleven now?
at 07:47 22 Jan 2025

I think there's a good argument that this is currently our strongest team:

WALTON

TUANZEBE
O'Shea
BURGESS

BURNS
MORSY
Cajuste
DAVIS

HUTCHINSON
BROADHEAD

Delap

Only 3 newbies

I'm not blaming him for the defeat, that's a team effort.

Muric is one of mckenna's new men and he's been dropped.

Agree with the OP. Greaves might be the future but burgess is what we need in this relegation battle. I actually think he's better on the ball too. Greaves is just a bit quicker.

...that he basically created a position in mckenna's tactic? The JD position - defensive right-back / right-sided centre back in a 3. It seems like we're signing right-footed centre backs specifically to play the role now. You could even argue that it was JD playing that position so well that allowed us to go and get a super-attacking left back...

Remembering the fan who had it in for Darren Currie
at 02:24 12 Jan 2025

I was fairly vocal about how bad i thought currie was but i only sat in the north once or twice. On one of tbose occasions remember berating royle/magic to get him off seconds before he floated a delightful ball over the top for westlake to bury it in a 1-0 win against someone. Everyone around me seemed quite amused. I like to think i left him alone after that.

We've got one more prem loan left, haven't we? Deadline day striker from top-half prem team who don't see us as a threat and/or have signed a new one themselves.

Like...(consults 'forwards' section of FPL player list page)...marc guiu for 4.7 pounds.

Spending big in jan

I think there's an argument that selling at the right time has been as important to brighton as their excellent recruitment.

Spending big in jan
at 22:06 10 Jan 2025

Sorry if this has already been discussed but do we think our willingness to spend a lot of money this month is related to how well delap's doing? Are we now planning to sell him for 70-80m in the summer and spending that money already? Not saying it's a bad idea. If someone offers that monry, it could set the club up for years.

Team for Arsenal (shudder)
at 02:52 25 Dec 2024

I thought broady looked good against newcastle. Wouldn't start him but i'd bring him on ahead of clarke.

Wes has looked off it and VERY short on confidence for a long time now. Could jack clarke be the attacking option on the right wing? Johnson could play the away games as RWB, clarke start at home as an orthodox RW?

our 4 weak points (not the 9)

Morsy's been excellent recently. Johnson is improving as he settles in and will prove to be good enough in time. The replacement for delap on 60 minutes is injured and we're outside a transfer window.

Why am i even bothering to respond to this?

One thing i'm not enjoying this season

Not being able to root for the underdog. Brighton southampton for example. Defaulted to enjoying southampton's comeback and was annoyed by the VAR nonsense. But then remembered we need them to lose.

Which was better: Spurs away 2001 or Spurs away 2024?

The limbs when the armstrong winner went in were the most intense i've experienced. For what it meant though, yesterday must have been pretty special.

Republica / Ready to go. An ITFC core memory.
at 09:45 24 Oct 2024

I did my work experience at the EADT for mike noye's wife. She knew i was a big town fan so let me do any errands that needed running at portman road. They'd moved away from republica at the time and mike asked me what i thought should be the walkout music so i asked him to bring republica back, which he did.

My one contribution.

Chappers start on Saturday please (n/t)
at 00:31 24 Oct 2024

Keen.

Forget all about who is the better player for a moment. We're entering a dogfight and for that you need teamwork and confidence. Omari is a brilliant footballer bit it looks like he's overthinking it at the moment. We've built tactics around chappers for years now and he's got a point to prove. Leif hasn't found a blue shirt from a corner all season yet as soon as chappers gets on against everton, the old low cross to chappers at the near post works. Omari by my count has managed the lobbed ball over the top of the left back for burns once this season. Chappers has done it at least twice from his 30ish minutes in total off the bench.

For all he's done for us, he deserves a proper chance.

Plus he'll work his tits off.

We love you ipswich around the 90-minute mark came through loud and clear. Just well done for sticking with them, doesn't have to be super-loud. I was effing and blinding at the tv - i'd have been no help at all.
