QPR 3-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 23:18:11

LightningBoy - you are wrong, plain and simple. Today was a woeful performance from our team, and Nolan's error cost us the first goal. However, anyone who was there watching today will tell you that Nolan was the only player who was demanding the ball throughout, trying to make things happen and running his socks off. Compare that to Downes, who went missing for huge periods. No one is up to the task, but to single Nolan out for anything other than criticism for the first goal shows that you don't read the game at all

Ipswich Town 1-1 Sheffield United - Match Report
at 17:29:23

A few games ago, we all agreed that we just needed to keep in touch with those around us until January. We are doing just that and so today has to be seen as a good point. A few weeks ago we would have lost that game - we rode our luck a bit but we are definitely capable of doing this. Unfortunately it is looking like there will be 4 teams battling for just one safety place. A shock win at QPR please!

One or two proven goalscorers, plus someone (anyone!) to replace the woeful Spence - I don't think we can hope/expect for any more than that. Another performance where we competed, worked hard and had some good passing moves, but ultimately we haven't got anyone to regularly turn these performances into points.

I won't give up hope of a miracle, but as each game passes it looks less and less likely

Ipswich Town 1-2 West Bromwich Albion - Match Report
at 22:26:11

Lambert has taken on a rock bottom team with zero confidence and no game plan. We have to remember that when we measure performances against expectations.

So, in our position, it's inevitable we are going to lose several games, and WBA would certainly be a game we would struggle to get anything out of. However, we are playing with more confidence, more energy and a crowd that is playing their part.

That means we are very likely to start winning games (something that seemed remote before Lambert arrived). If we scrape a few points and avoid relegation by one point, that will be a success (it's painful to say it, but that has to be the level of our expectation).

So the next game is much more critical than tonight's - we need to keep relatively close to the teams above us, and if we do we will gradually start picking them off, and we can then welcome a proven goalscorer in January!

Reading 2-2 Ipswich Town - Match Report

Yes, the result was ultimately frustrating, and we should have finished them off first half, but that performance today was anything but relegation. We looked so comfortable and classy in the first half - Skuse was playing some beautiful 50 yard passes, Freddie was full of confidence, Chambers and the rest of the defence were in complete control.

The wins are not far away, but we just need to keep in touch with those around us until we can bring a couple in. Great to see the fans stay behind and applaud the team, and PL showing his clear appreciation of the support - from where we were a couple of weeks ago, things are looking so much more positive. There are those on here who still want to talk down the side, but if the rest of us stick together, we will get there. COYB!

Forget passion and desire. This is simply a case of very very poor players, which is why I can't see Lambert keeping us up. If he could start bringing in replacements now, we might have some hope, but we will be almost as good as down before he can do any transfer dealing. No point getting angry at the players - they're just not good enough, across all areas of the pitch.

Lambert's first press conference will be interesting.

Leeds United 2-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report

The sad thing is I think we competed throughout the match, yet still could easily have lost 6-0. Despite how poor we seem right across the pitch, if we had a proven goalscorer, that would be an outlet and would always give us hope of nicking a goal. I'm disappointed with, and for Hurst as (like most fans) I thought he would at least bring us some excitement. I just can't see any way out for him now, but starting all over again also doesn't fill me with any hope.

Someone give me some optimism!

Swansea City 2-3 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 17:56:15

Of course we know this doesn't suddenly change everything, but what a fantastic result. First and foremost, when they equalised I'm sure every Town fan expected the inevitable. So for us to then go on the attack and actually win the game is a massive positive.

Sears on his own up front was sensational. Not just the goal and assist, but the way he held the ball up to buy us time - maybe this is his watershed moment! And Chambers' last ditch tackle on Celina shows why he is our leader.

So this was so much more than just a win - players started to show real self belief, and they have proved to themselves that they can win against the odds. For those reasons, one of the best Town performances in recent seasons.

Ihatecanaries - talking of deluded fools, a new owner, new manager and 20 new players. That was easy, wasn't it. Give yourself a pat on the back. Then maybe give a realistic solution to where we find ourselves

Ipswich Town 0-0 Bolton Wanderers - Match Report
at 17:42:43

There are some fans who revel in what is currently happening, and are quite happy to recreate the same abusive and poisonous atmosphere we had last season. BUT having said all that, I am genuinely worried. First few games, I thought we'd competed, maybe been a bit unlucky and, without setting the world alight, we showed glimpses of something promising. Last 3 games that seems to have disappeared and it's difficult to see where we are going to get a win.

Really don't know what the answer is. It's easy for people to call for Hurst's head, but that in itself is not the answer. Where do we go next? Turning on the players and manager will have no positive benefit, so I feel we have to continue to back them and hope it comes good - but I'm not optimistic

Hurst: Lads Showed a Lot of Character
at 23:16:46

I get the feeling that Hurst and the fans are starting to recognise our best starting eleven. It's taken a while, as we knew it would, but Hurst is learning all the time and tonight will have answered a lot of questions for him.

I just hope that he now has the belief and conviction in his best side, and that the fans support him/them as they now start to properly bond. Still a long way to go, but tonight was a huge step.

Terrible terrible news. If he had avoided injuries, he would have been considered one of England's greatest ever players. Think of all the fantastic players that have graced Portman Road - he was the best. What a sad day.

Hurst Considering Appeal Against Nsiala Red Card
at 19:05:52

That's the problem. If fans want to be negative they'll say you can't keep blaming refs, etc, but today I firmly believe his decision cost us the game. Not only because we were a man down, but because it wasn't even a foul and so we would have been on the attack rather than almost immediately defending the corner. Of course we should have defended better, of course we should have been more ruthless up front, but the fact still remains the ref cost us the match.

Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report

Glad to see most people are staying positive. Of course results ultimately matter, and we have given away some soft goals, which is worrying. However, at no time have we been significantly outplayed, let alone humiliated. The red card today was beyond belief, and if it hadn't happened, who knows? Same against Villa. Should have beaten Rotherham, and even our poorest defeat (Derby) could have gone either way prior to the goal.

I know these are all 'ifs', and if we go another 4 or 5 games without a win, I will be worried. But at the moment we have not had any luck, yet are still showing enough to make me confident of good times ahead. Norwich won't know what's hit them!

TraktorBoyz - "I've literally watched Skuse play terrible (sic) every game why on earth are you defending him". Yes, of course, you're right. Why would I want to defend one of our own players, who played well tonight and who both our previous and current manager believe in. In fact, why defend any of the shower. I'll be booing next game.
