Recommendations please - record players/speakers

Bit late to this particular party but thought you'd like to know I have a very similar set up to what you suggested, an Audio Technica turntable with Edifier R1800BT speakers and it does a fine job. All in I think I paid around 200 a couple of year ago.
I'm sure a proper audiophile would sneer but I'm a big music fan and it sounds good enough for me, certainly much better than those turntables in a suitcase!

First time I've played since 2016/17.
Half way through first season, can already see this sucking my life away... luckily my laptops dead and I left my charger at home, so I can actually get some work done today!
Playing 352. Top of L1, Dozzell and Jackson in particular doing the business so far.
Looking to pick up a few young players who I can base the team around/sell on for money, but jeez it's hard with our finances. Championship and PL must be a real struggle!

I've driven a couple of times to Morzine and to Les Arcs and Tignes. The roads through France are impeccable, and you can make good time on them, only problem is they're pretty boring, just blasting through the middle of the country, no sights to see. Oh and you do pay a fair whack in tolls.
I've stopped off in Reims to do a bit of champagne quaffing, but that does lweave you a long trek the next day with a sore head. I've also stayed around Geneva and Dijon, plenty of cheap hotels like Formula 1 if you just want somewhere to break up the journey.
Roads as you get closer to the mountains do get very busy on a Saturday. so avoid travelling then if poss, or hit them as early as possible.
Mountain roads are normally fine, but you never know, make sure you have chains in the car, or even better snow socks, much easier to put on!

It's not short-termism, it's their entire youth policy/business plan. They make an awful lot of money loaning players out then selling them on. Always going to be the odd one or two in there they could have made more on, but I'm sure they'll be happy enough with the extra sell on fee.

I was going to have a little punt on him being L1 top scorer this season, but it seems he's the clear favourite at 7-1 which put me off a little. Sears and Jackson weren't too far off either.
The bookies had us right last season, let's hope they've got it right again this season!
Holiday reading recommendations?
at 12:30 18 Jul 2019
If you like horror have you ever tried Adam Nevill? My absolute favourite author, all his books are excellent, real literary horror that get under your skin. I'd probably start with Last Days which is probably his most accessible and would make a good holiday read, or the Ritual (which was made into a pretty decent movie, now on Netflix)
If you like horror AND crime then John Connolly's detective series is fantastic.

Yeah Borderlands is great, a visit to the church in Devon is on my bucket list!
Another good found footage, I think available on Amazon Prime, is Hellhouse LLC, nothing particularly new bout it, but well made and gave me the heebiejeebies (cellars have always crapped me up though)
There's a few crackers on Netflix at the moment, I thought The Monster was great, really tense, better than A Quiet Place imo, which it reminded me of.
And if you haven't yet seen it, Hereditary really is the best horror film of recent years, deeply unsettling and even better on a second viewing.
Greatest Rock Riff ... ever?
at 08:34 2 Jul 2019
I can't be the only person who thinks Smoke on the Water is a clunky, hackneyed piece of cheese? Utterly overlayed, I hate that riff!
How about You Really Got Me by the kinks, proper dirty little riff.
Or Layla by Eric Clapton (Derek and the Domino's)
Or Kashmir by Led Zep
The 'other' World Cup

Maybe we should just even it up by making men's goals bigger? More goals = good surely?!
It's an interesting debate about the size of womens goals and pitches. The main sticking point against changing them is that it would make it harder for women to get into the game as there would obviously be less pitches for them to play on. How many clubs/councils etc would pay for smaller pitches alongside the mens ones?
Great to see all the coverage of the womens world cup, can only be a good thing surely? Don't get the blokes whinging about it.

Go on, I'll be in. Really enjoyed the last women's world cup. There was some good football played, although despite getting quite far England looked a bit kick and run at times. Hoping for better from them this time as I'll be making my two girls watch.
Mobile phone advice.

I've had a OnePlus 3 (android) for a few years now, great phone does everything well for peanuts compared to other better known brands and still going strong.
You might be able to get one of their phones cheap, I'm sure the newer models are even better.
Game of Thrones

I think it's more than that though, she's always had the slightly unhinged megalomaniac element about her and this was just the final betrayal for her. I think the big one was the betrayal of the Starks , the Northeners and Jon Snow, she could see her grip on the Kingdom (whihch she still beleived to be a divine right) evaporating before her.
Whether or not you though this episode worked or was a cheat depended entirely on whether you bought Dany's transformation.
