Initially south west then across to Livingston then back to London. Probably going up the west coast so M6.

Does that make football a sport or not? I've seen some pretty "subjective" refereeing over the years!

Breaking a journey to Scotland from London

I need some advice from the hive mind. We are driving up to Scotland for a holiday this summer and looking for somewhere to break the journey on the way back. Also trying to find somewhere nice but affordable to stay on the way up. Any suggestions?

Early history if the Olympics is all a bit mad. The French are the current hosts of the gold medal for cricket. I suspect they won't retain their title in LA though...

Regarding the weapon used .22 is caliber not mm. The standard NATO round is 5.56mm which is the same as .22 caliber.

We tend to think of .22 as less lethal in this country as it's associated with air rifles but a .22 round in a firearm is highly lethal, just ask JFK.

Problem with this argument is most dictators that have taken over a democratic state (from Caesar to Hitler) have done so by getting voted in. Usually through populist rhetoric that exploits a gap created by the failure of the existing state to meet people's needs. Frequently assisted by the hubris of existing leaders (see Cameron and Brexit).

The question is how to prevent someone who is prepared to use undemocratic means from gaining power without resorting to such means. I would argue that any attempt to circumvent such means is more likely to accelerate a collapse into autocracy. After all Caesar was never Emperor but his successors found it easy to assume the role in the chaos left by his assassination.

Personally I believe that Trump wants to assume some form of autocratic rule. Evidence for this being his stuffing of the supreme court, refusal to accept the result of a democratic election, attempts to gerrymander certain states etc. However trying to kill him will only strengthen his position and make it easier for him to adopt antidemocratic practices once in office.

Those suggesting some kind of false flag operation need to also consider how they'd respond had this situation been reversed and the Trump team were suggesting something similar.

Watched some of that from my office window. Thought the train might save Essex at one point but missing a player to sickness set them back too far.

Sounds about right. Most grounds have these kind of executive suites these days. Also much more useful as venue space when games aren't on

Came up as a possible target in the KoA pod as well. Albeit as a suggestion rather than any kind of confirmed link.

Send to be a party of at least one Hitler sympathiser according to the BBC article linked further up. Not just a member but a candidate in fact.

Hope you're right. Analysis I just read in the Guardian suggests that the league won't be able to afford the legal costs if they were to expel them, meaning they have no ultimate sanction they can apply.
