 | News Comment | McKenna: We Need to Expand Our Scouting Networks and Recruit From Different Markets at 08:00:11
Don’t forget Evans scrapped scouting along with much of the club’s infrastructure including letting the yoof system rot. It came down to knowledge and contacts of individual managers which is why we deservedly finished in L1. It takes a while to rebuild a proper professional scouting network. I’d add that scouting from abroad wasn’t viable in League One, as was explained at the time. |
 | News Comment | Simpson: I Made the Wrong Decision to Turn Down Town Deal at 10:35:32
I thought it was a dopey decision at the time, but understandable. Full credit to him for being big enough to put his hand up. Heck, we all make mistakes in life, especially when young. Anyone that doesn’t probably hasn’t done anything. I hope he recovers well and goes on to have a good career. |

Injury prone and flatters to deceive. No from me even before the crucial element of only wanting people here who want to be here. |
 | News Comment | Chelsea Trigger £30m Delap Release Clause at 22:15:08
Darkhorse28. Owner supporter relationship was absolutely zero from the moment he slithered up to the moment he scuttled away. He didn’t even show his face for years until somebody took a picture. The nearest he got to communication was a load of bullsht in the letter accompanying Season ticket begging letters. His investment amounted to what he’d agreed when he bought the club. After year two he allowed the club to hollow out and die. Mediocrity was a hope, but further relegations were a certainty. Equating quick flip Evans to the current ownership is wrong and actually bizarre. |
 | News Comment | Chelsea Trigger £30m Delap Release Clause at 21:26:43
This has been done to death yet people are still looking to pin the blame for a £12m profit for one year on the club’s incompetence. If Saints were offering a similar deal what were ITFC supposed to do? Oh I know, stick to their guns and say our terms or take a hike. That would have done it! It’s actually a shame that Delap didn’t go to Southampton. That way the tears of rage, stamping of feet and damp underwear would all have been saved and the world would have been a better place. ITFC should have known that what was signed as a probable 21 year old no 2 striker would be worth £50m by seasons end. For the money Aston is paid, he should have the gift of foresight and a crystal ball at the very least. |
 | News Comment | Former Blues Boss McCarthy Inducted into LMA Hall of Fame at 19:56:51
I couldn’t abide the way he set his teams up to play. Not my cup of tea at all. But he was successful as a manager and he was successful here. He had both hands tied behind his back and over achieved. How much he over achieved was shown by what happened when he left. Mick deserves his recognition and should be welcomed at the club if he ever wants to come back here. |
 | News Comment | Chelsea Strong Favourites to Sign Delap at 12:14:40
Mutters: spot on. We will make a profit on the player. If it was that deal for us or watch Southampton take the player and the profit, however small the money, I think I know what I prefer. It appears that some would have happier seeing him to go to Saints. Another stick to beat Ashton and whoever does the negotiating with? Anyway in a sense i see it is a bit like Man City paying us to loan him to us for a season. The odd thing is that seeing him pre season, I thought it was questionable as to whether he could play to the standard he did or would last. He looked by no means the player he turned out to be. Well done him, McKenna and co for coaching him and the club for bringing him in. I wish him well - a big future awaits. |
 | News Comment | McKenna: Delap's Spent the Week Looking at His Options and Having Conversations at 16:13:57
The sooner it’s sorted the better. Bit of a no brainer really - of course he’s going to move on to bigger, better things. And if he wants to go, fine. Same for anyone else who wants to leave. Where he goes? I’m not interested providing the terms are the best for the club they can be. As for Delap, he’s done his best for us and I think that all being well he should have a good career. |
 | News Comment | Harrop: Looking Back, I Should Never Have Joined Ipswich at 18:24:49
Failed a medical and signed him anyway. Why? What was wrong with Lambert and Evans? This club really was disappearing down the pan. Thank goodness the club is finally rid of Evans and of course that clueless bag of gas Lambert. As for Preston, on the face of it they sound a right shower too. |
 | News Comment | McKenna: Much Appreciated and Not Quickly Forgotten at 08:19:14
LJ99: I know your shower took a bit of a beating yesterday and assume that you are exorcising your rage and disappointment by trolling on here. I can’t think why you’d post such garbage then double down on it. But you are not alone. This club seems to have attracted a little cadre of people like you this season. |
 | News Comment | Emotional Portman Road End to Stewart's March of the Day II at 15:16:15
In his prime and with decent service, Stewart was absolutely lethal. Not the quickest in a running race, he was over that first couple of yards - his speed of thought, positioning left opponents struggling every time. Roll back his age and he could have played in the modern game, no problem. One of the best forwards to ever play for us, despite his time here being relatively short. It was a privilege to see Marcus play. |
 | News Comment | Ex-Blue Knight Departs Murcia at 11:41:02
The system is rotten. Knight may not have made it anyway. He may make it still, but I cannot see anything but waste in the way the big clubs hoover up and spit out young players. |
 | News Comment | Edmundson Fee and Personal Terms Agreed at 23:55:56
The player is happy there and it’s best for everyone that his future is settled in the right way. Ok, we’ve lost a little bit of money on him, but given he was in free transfer territory at the end of the season, it’s better to take some sort of fee now. George has been good for the club and I wish him well. |
 | News Comment | Chelsea Fined For Town Penalty Protests at 14:19:34
That’ll learn em. Let’s hope they don’t have to file for bankruptcy. That well known sub that falls over all the time Dewsbury-Fall is paid £80k a week. There are 17 players paid more than him. So a fine of £40k for Chelsea FC is basically a joke. Why bother? |
