Part One: The Descent Into The Marcus Evans Eras
at 17:35:17

It was a speculative punt on Evans’ part. Bung a lump in, appoint a high profile manager, into the Premier League and bobs ya diddly. Sell on, quick flip, buck made. It was about as long term as a double cheeseburger with medium fries.

After the failure of abject Keane it was effectively life support time. Mediocrity the aim, losses to a minimum, cost cuts to a maximum. The nearest to investment was a tin of cheap paint for the portacabin and handing over a roll of notes the boys chasing Chopra for £.

Evans was a disaster. Following the ineptitude of the board allowing the club to go bankrupt in 2002, it then handed it over to Evans. I know he’s a fan and cares, but if that was Sheepshanks’ idea of being a ‘custodian’, oh dear. Evans drained the life out of the club. Yes, he made losses and didn’t fold the club. Whoopee.

ITFC was just allowed, to rot, to eat itself. Collapsed into L1, heading down. It was flushing away its very identity and left with a few individuals who cared trying to do their best. A few more years and we’d have been out of the football league. There’s plenty of testimony about what happened at the club from the likes of Dyer, McGoldrick, Lee, carefully worded stuff from Chambers and others. It wasn’t good.

For a successful business man, I’m amazed he couldn’t see what the club might be and at least appoint better than the stooges he put in place. His judgement on managers was laughably poor too. One good manager in how many? That might have helped.

They will never be a ‘thank you Marcus’ from me.

Premier League Clubs Eyeing Davis
at 16:19:41

He’s under contract. £20m is chump change to PL clubs, especially Newcastle who are bankrolled by the headchoppers. Ask £40m, accept £30m.

Given how Ashton mugged us off over Webster, I suspect he’ll hold out for a good deal on Davis, if that’s what has to happen. I think he’s a smashing player and I’d love him to stay, but if he wants to leave, especially if it’s to his hometown club, that’s fair enough.

McKenna: Credit to Maidstone, a Horrible Game to Lose
at 16:44:55

The effort was there. Can’t fault that. But the ability in certain areas and the cohesion after 20 mins wasn’t.

They are in the 6th tier against a professional club in the second who were playing at home. No excuses, don’t blame refs and bad luck. It wasn’t good enough.

Credit to Maidstone. Their players fitness, organisation and desire was excellent.

Delia and Husband Issue Statement on Car Incident
at 07:29:49

If a car of ‘ordinary’ Norwich supporters had followed the Ipswich bus into that and got an earful and an empty beer can for their trouble they’d have been laughed at for being Grade A idiots that brought it on themselves. What makes Smith and her husband so special?

The woman is just trying to trash ITFC over this non issue. What next? Councelling in public for beer can related PTSD? Nobody got hurt, nobody died and even her expensive, luxury car was undamaged.

Players Make Hospital and Hospice Visits
at 18:08:10

In St Elizabeth Hospice 20 odd days ago now, I put an ITFC hat next to one of my dad’s photos in case he saw it and a staff member and another patient mentioned that the players were due to visit. I also heard it talked about in the cafeteria area.

This sort of thing really does make a big difference. Well done Ipswich Town for doing this. My front room is a little dusty writing this.

Schumacher Fuming Over "Huge Turning Point"
at 19:11:23

Schumacher: bore off. The Lino and ref were closer to it than him and the 4th official. It was a close one but that’s the way it goes. They’d had everything from hurling themselves to the ground to taking a throw in 20 yds further up the pitch yet that still wasn’t enough.

Plymouth played the L1 successful style well, have some good players and lost. Get over it.

Burgess: Really Excited to Be Back in the Championship
at 08:28:13

Sunderland a must win? Yeah right. Let’s forget the rest of the season and volunteer for 24th place.

Actually, if we don’t win by three clear goals and keep a clean sheet, we could still not play the rest of the season, clear out the entire team and get rid of McKenna along with his rubbish coaching team. Maybe by a new team bus, tear down Portman Road and replace it with a Nou Camp lookalike and position the moon on a stick at one end. Sorted!

Meanwhile, back on planet earth.
