 | Your Report | Ipswich Town v Wolverhampton Wanderers Your Report added at 17:42:29 The reason we lose is that the players cannot do what McKenna wants which is to keep attacking and get the second goal. We did it last season but they can’t do it this season. Quality is opposition is probably main factor. Other factor is our lack of wingers due to injuries. McKenna has done an amazing job. Hope we can keep him. Players have done their best. I can’t fault anyone. Blame Morsy? Don’t be f***ing stupid. He will earn a packet in Saudi next season and he has earned every penny of it. He never stops running and can be proud of what he has contributed this season. |
 | Your Report | Ipswich Town v Wolverhampton Wanderers Your Report added at 17:35:51 Absolute rubbish orfordbuoy. Morsy has been fantastic this season. He’s a scape goat for the idiots who don’t actually watch the matches. Fools look at age and the fact that he hasn’t played in the prem. There is a reason why he is picked ahead of others. If we had 10 Sam Morsys, we are still in the prem. |
 | Your Report | Manchester United v Ipswich Town Your Report added at 22:04:19 Utterly clueless performance in the second half. We just had no idea. Philogene was awful again - Ignore the lucky goals. We failed to punish an awful team with 10 men. We came out in the second half playing lazy football as if they thought it was going to be easy. Then having conceded yet another set piece by giving away yet another unnecessary corner, we just played the ball back and forth across the pitch for the rest of the half. You could see they had no plan and no idea what to do to break down the ten men. Philogene and Tuanzebe were pure comedy just playing it back and forth between each other. Philogene would do a few of those pointless jerky things, give it back to Tuanzebe who would gave it straight back for more comedy stationary step overs. The Utd defenders could have brought a teapot on and poured each other a cuppa. Any other team would have murdered Man U tonight. |
 | Your Report | Ipswich Town v Tottenham Hotspur Your Report added at 17:27:38 Score flattered Spurs. We needed an early goal but didn't get the luck we needed with the early chances. But was like playing with 10 men with Philogene so lacking in confidence. I can only guess that Mckenna didn't want to risk Szmodics. I suppose Philogene will improve, because he couldn't possibly do any worse. He even stood on the ball and fell over at one point (something I have done many times). Palmer was good again and most players put in a really good shift. Delap was dangerous and unlucky not to score. Cajuste and Phillips did well in midfield. Right back is clearly a problem if Alex is out. When Hirst came on it was Hirst trying to get crosses in. A sign that our wide players are just not cutting it. Wolves will be a must win. But looking forward to being at Old Trafford on Wednesday because - well you never know. |
 | Your Report | Aston Villa v Ipswich Town Your Report added at 10:58:46 Yes first yellow everyone agrees was wrong. Ref just wanted to get card out for the ‘little team’. But the biggest mystery was the back pass in first minute. I was in line with it and I am no longer sure what ‘deliberate back pass’ is if that wasn’t one. Believe me the Villa fans around me were frozen to the spot with disbelief at that moment. We would have been beaten by a good team on form because we missing some key players. Thankfully Villa were not on form and we defended well. Going forward we really had very little apart from the goal. I can understand that McKenna set up to not lose. It worked. I was a little bit frustrated with Phillips giving away two free kicks on the edge of area. He just seems to leave his foot in when a player has gone past him. He should just close down and not dive-in, when in those areas. Canjuste’s tricks and turns didn’t come off but he did a decent defensive job. Morsy is a little more suited to a battle-for-a-point game. I do feel that not having Leif helped us. We need him when we are going for three points. Today was a Townsend day. That does mean we aren’t on the edge of our seats or covering our eyes quite so much. I am confused about the ‘shoulder to shoulder’. Omari must be so strong because at 55kg(?) I am constantly amazed at how he can so easily knock someone twice his size over with his shoulder. However we have seen that when the big defender decides to stand his ground Omari bounces off like a tennis ball. Can’t refs just apply the rule consistently? If we get a few players back fit, we can certainly give ourselves a chance if the team have this kind of spirit and determination. We need Philogene to start producing. We need crosses into Hirst with Delap coming on later or perhaps try and play both. I do hope that failing to land Downes doesn’t define our season. He would have really added to our midfield options. Luongo is clearly only able to run around for ten minutes and doesn’t have the mobility of a PL midfielder. He is only there for when we are really desperate. |
 | Your Report | Coventry City v Ipswich Town Your Report added at 21:51:22 Incredible support today with huge Town following making all the noise. But Coventry supporters also showed up unlike many other clubs today who couldn’t fill their stadiums. Scoreline was possibly a little flattering but that’s not a problem. Great to see Clarke play well but PL defenders don’t give the same space as Coventry did. Sad about Szmodics, he is an important player. The midfield pairing did OK but not good enough to start in PL. still feel Morsy and Cajuste will start next match. Phillips is getting closer but not sure Taylor is quite there yet. Hirst was outstanding and looks set to start instead of Delap. Delap seems to only be able to kick and charge. He often gets the ball stuck under his feet and leaves it behind. He is more of an impact player if we are losing with 20 minutes to go. He has forgotten he is in a team. The coaches have work to do there to get him back on track. Townsend did well and could certainly deputise for Davis is we needed to be more secure at the back. We were a little lacking down the wings at times. I hope Philogene can settle into the team soon. This was his big chance and apart from his goal he was very disappointing again. On the bright side, McKenna has been watching him for a couple of years and wouldn’t have signed for £20M if he wasn’t sure. More to come from Jaden hopefully. |
 | Your Report | Ipswich Town v Southampton Your Report added at 17:51:00 Very unlucky. The boo boys should be ashamed. They can make way for those of us who couldn't get a ticket. Excellent team performance with an impressive debut from Enciso. Soton only had about three chances and benefitted from a couple of GK errors. Soton did work very very hard, but all Town players gave everything and showed we are a much higher quality team that Soton. It just happens like that sometimes. Philogene looked a bit better than on his debut and hopefully will settle in soon. Cajuste was a class above everyone in the first half. Omari had a better game also. Delap was back on form after two poor games. I just think we need to improve the wing play. We need to get players down the wing and cross it, possibly for Hirst who I thought would start today. Jack Clarke really needs to step up now! Plenty of games left. Leicester got thumped and hopefully Wolves will too. Don't panic! |
 | Your Report | Liverpool v Ipswich Town Your Report added at 18:59:44 Broadhead was outstanding and spearheaded our mini come-back. His control ,movement, acceleration and vision were in stark contrast to what had gone before. Hirst and Enciso also looked up for it when they came on. Our forwards had all been well off the pace before then. The corner from Enciso was perfect. Lucky he went over and took the ball from Phillips to take it. And lucky he didn’t get sent off before he had even touched the ball! Hirst was unlucky not to score just before Greaves did. Great movement. We need Hirst in the box and we need crosses! Delap is now a shadow of the player we were watching a few weeks ago. His work rate has fallen so much. His movement is just not there. Hirst will probably start now with Delap the impact player. So many passes intercepted. Just not sharp enough in attacking areas. Sadly it wasn’t just that Liverpool were good. In theory we have attackers who should trouble any defence, but they never laid a glove on Liverpool until the last 10. Morsy and Phillips did ok and held their own. The defence really struggled. Especially Davis against Salah. Davis gave the ball away in dangerous areas and must be close to being given a rest. The movement of Liverpools front players can be quite dazzling and at times our defenders could only stand like statues and watch. Philogene was worryingly off the pace. He finally broke away in the second half but Salah caught him up and took the ball so easily it was embarrassing. Just hope it’s a fitness issue. I think it was Omari who was dispossessed in a similar way by Trent. Liverpool defenders are often vulnerable. They could certainly relax today. Still 4-1. and 1-1 second half is no all bad. The mini comeback was more a case of Ipswich perking up a bit than Liverpool waiting for the whistle. If the we start the next match like we ended this one we will be ok. The away fans brilliant as always. Yes singing about winning the FA cup just once is quite funny at Anfield. And the home fans retorted with the same song but with rather more trophies mentioned. It was possibly an unequal contest just like the match but at least we gave it a go! |
 | Your Report | Ipswich Town v Brighton and Hove Albion Your Report added at 19:40:00 Just wonder if Morsy would have been in that big gap the defence left open for the first goal? Before they scored it was a pretty low quality stalemate. The first goal was initially a mistake by Greaves but then when they crossed the ball in, our defenders were so transfixed that they forgot to get tight on the players in the box. It was a strange lapse in concentration. But I wasn’t too worried as I assumed there was going to be a heroic fight back, and my 426 mile motorcycle round trip on a Thursday night in January was going to be worth it. But the fight-back just never got off the ground. I have to give Brighton some credit for that. They broke up our play time and time again with monotonous effectiveness. They also pressed well when we tried to reverted to ‘play it out from the back - give the fans a heart attack’. Has anyone else noticed that we are not pressing anymore? Delap is no longer charging at a terrified keeper. He just jogs about now. I can understand that tactically we may want the opposition to advance and then we pinch the ball and break, but there didn’t seem to be a coordinated effort to do this. It just looked a bit half hearted. When Morsy came on, things briefly improved as he lead by example but then the second goal happened. I couldn’t see who is was but he had a chance to poke it clear and instead just stared at it. Time stood still an Rutter took that time to try his luck with a back heel. Luck was on his side. Game over. |

 | Your Report | Fulham v Ipswich Town Your Report added at 16:24:25 Good point but could have held on for win. Delap had to come off as he hadn’t really been pressing all match (and his touch was poor today). However Al-Hamadi came on and was totally off the pace. perhaps he still has that injury problem as he wasn’t moving very well. So unlucky with Clarke hitting the post. 3-1 would have killed it but the miss led to a tired Davis giving away the final pen. Should we have held Davis back and kept it safe? Szmodics had a good game and his defensive work was excellent as usual. I think our problem at the end of matches is that we lose Szmodics pressing and Al-Hamadi and J Clarke can’t do that job effectively. The defence all played well. The three centre halves is working very well and Johnson had his best match. Really stupid and unnecessary challenge from Morsy to give away their first pen. First really poor thing he has done this season. Broadhead showed classy touches and great movement. Really proved he is a Premier league player. Delap was a little lucky to win the pen. Looked like he had lost the ball and the contact was minimal. On that basis, 2-2 was a fair result. Look forward to having some more striking options coming in next week. |
 | Your Report | Arsenal v Ipswich Town Your Report added at 22:51:03 Good defensive performance. Good tactics. Nervous sloppy passing from Omari and Delap. Omari didn’t want to take on any of the Arsenal players which was strange. Three very good goal chances but Szmodics and Taylor didn’t shoot. But at 1-0 there was always a chance to pinch a point and that was clearly the game plan. Phillips worked hard and plays well with Cajuste again. Woofenden had a great game and at the moment is a better player than Greaves. Broadhead had some good touches and good movement when he came on. McKenna said not brave enough towards the end of the game and lacked a bit of quality up front which sums it up. |
 | Your Report | Wolverhampton Wanderers v Ipswich Town Your Report added at 20:13:20 As I always say on here, Morsy is not being given the credit he deserves in the ratings. He does so much work, links everything, wins tackles, motivates and gets us moving forward. Minimum 8/10 in every match this season. Taylor deserves a good rating but he was only on for 25. Morsy is our best player match after match. I don’t think any midfielder has debuted in the Premier League aged 33 and made this kind of impact. |
 | Your Report | Wolverhampton Wanderers v Ipswich Town Your Report added at 19:47:28 Yes. I just realised Szdomics wasn’t there!! Thought he had a quiet game! Actually I had been watching the Tuesday night match on Town TV in the morning so I had him in my mind. Well that’s my excuse (that and the many pints of beer in the pubs of Wolverhampton). But it’s nice to know that someone read my report ! |
 | Your Report | Wolverhampton Wanderers v Ipswich Town Your Report added at 18:54:02 Very tight game. Wolves players did well to fight back with their supporters booing them. Hope we never do that sort of thing again at Portman Road. We did look vulnerable in second half when they kept catching us on the break and our forward players were not pressing as hard. Equaliser looked inevitable after Delap missed Burn’s beautiful cross that should have been our second goal. Big effort to win it by both teams. Town under pressure until last few minutes of added time when we decided to have another go with Wolves settling for the point. A corner was won a few seconds before the whistle with good work from J Clarke. He took the corner. The rest is history. Massive Ipswich contingent went crazy. I was with the Wolves supporters and I can tell you that the Town supporters made it more like a home game. Outsang the 27 000 home supporters throughout. Burgess was outstanding again, as was O‘Shea. Our full backs are always going to have dodgy moments against premier league wingers. I would certainly stick with Harry Clarke until Tuanzebe is back. Jack Clarke made an impact this time. Very good 25 minutes from him. Some more stylish body swerves from Cajuste. Solid hard working performance from Morsy; great first touch and super accurate passing to feet as always; working harder than anybody to track back. Burns has improved his defensive work. Taylor looked good again when he came on. Always looking to shoot and retained possessing pretty well. Brilliant header for the winner and fist pumps at the end as an encore to Harry’s. Wolves defenders didn’t pick him up - obviously hadn’t read his CV. Muric dropped no clangers and commanded box. Chaplin may have played himself into the starting 11 on regular basis with another busy performance. Szmodics had a few good moments in first half. Just what we needed. |
 | Your Report | Ipswich Town v Crystal Palace Your Report added at 21:51:19 Palace stopped our attacking players very effectively so were tactically superior. There seemed to be no space in final third. Quiet game for Hutchinson and Cajuste. Morsy magnificent again. Defence did well. Al-Hamadi looked good off the bench. Taylor also did OK. Perhaps Szmodics should have come on rather than Chaplin? Harry Clarke had a decent game. |
