U18s Host Swindon in Youth Cup
at 16:46:40

Totally agree with you Upthetown. This shows a total disregard for our youth players. Let's hope the youth do us proud.
This club real does need to have a good look at itself.

Gibbs and Brothers to Take Part in Charity Three Peaks Challenge

A real role model for our club at such a young age. I think I'm right in saying Gibbs also donated to his local hospital during the first lockdown. What a wonderful young man really shows his character.

Gibbs Already on Premier League Radar as Town Offer New Deal
at 09:20:37

Very interesting what Bryan Klug had to say about Liam Gibbs.

last year, Ipswich's academy manager Bryan Klug said of Gibbs: “He is a dream to work with, first and foremost. He is a really good lad who is only interested in being the best he can be and that really goes down well with everyone at the football club.

“For a first-year scholar to get some involvement with the first team is good. He has mostly been 23s. Again, physically we know he is going to develop into a really good athlete but you have to wait for those things to develop.

“He is a goalscorer and he is a goal creator. He has got a real talent and one thing now is this football club presents opportunities to people like that.

“He has got the talent, there is no doubt. He is one of the most talented people I have worked with.

“It is just really now staying fit, keeping clear of injury. And when he is 18/19 I would anticipate he would be really knocking on the door.

“He was not ready for even a loan last year but I would say he might be one of those boys that follow that route and we will just see how he comes back and starts training.

“I would not rule out anything for Liam. I think he has got the potential to be a top player.”

I believe the young players at our club that are held in such high regard should be given a real chance to shine in our first team instead of the has beens that are currently be played in front of them.

Gibbs Already on Premier League Radar as Town Offer New Deal

This lad should be constantly around the first team certainly ahead of alot of our senior players. We need to show our best young talent they have a future at the club. This lad should definitely be around the first team match day squad regularly. Get him signed up now.

Lankester: I'm Ready to Show What I Can Do
at 09:20:00

Not the greatest performance against Lincoln in my opinion and we were lucky to only lose 1-0. Agree that we need to give some of our younger players a chance. McGavin and Gibbs had great games in the Teophy match but haven't been anywhere near although we are missing players in our midfield (1 match no midfielder on the bench). Time to play our more talented players and not just play experience!!. If Huws and Nolan can be given time on the pitch then McGavin and Gibbs must think to themselves am I not better than them. Gibbs for me although young deserves a chance. McGavin another who deserves a chance.

Baggott Joins Up With Indonesian U19s
at 12:13:42

Some very very good youngsters coming through. As you could see from the EFL cup match we have two 17 year old boys with outstanding talent. Gibbs and Baggott although very young played with old heads on their shoulders. Keeping hold of them should definitely be the clubs priority as they have now been showcased to the vultures out there. Good luck to them both.

Gibbs Hits Late 30-Yarder as U23s Win at Lowestoft
at 08:52:51

What a player Gibbs is. My worry is that when he is physically ready as you suggest Linkboy13 he will not be with us. I know Gibbs has got a lot of attention from premier league teams so we need to get him tied to a longterm deal. Now I know contracts dont really mean that much but it will give the club a bit of power to say no to other clubs. I think (please correct me if I'm wrong) Gibbs contract expires at the end of this season. Lets hope talks have started because I for one would love to see this lad in our first team. If you haven't seen Gibbs play you need too because hes the real deal in my opinion.

Well done Liam. Very creative midfielder the club have done very well keeping hold of him as I know lots of Premier league clubs are sniffing around him. Well done Ipswich securing such a talented youngster. Big well done to all at the academy producing another player we can call our own. Home grown lads love them. See you in the first team soon.

U18s Thrash Colchester
at 18:49:33

Well done to all involved with the u18 team. Some very well taken goals after very good buildup play. The pick of the goals has to be Gibbs backheal flick what a finish that was. It was right up there with Hughes goal for the u23's on Monday. This academy is producing some fantastic talent and I cant wait to see how many of these boys develop over the coming years. Reed was unfortunate not to get himself 4 goals as he also hit the post with a header. Very very enjoyable to watch 12 goals in 2 matches from our 23's and 18's. Long may it continue.

U18s Fight Back to Draw 4-4 With Crewe
at 08:50:13

The u18's were not at their best today. That said the young Blues dominated the match but found themselves 4-2 down at halftime. This team showed great team spirit to grab a draw in the end. No player really stood out today but Baker must get a mention for his finish in the first half and Gibbs for his deliveries into the box, on another day he would have had 3 or 4 assists with better finishing from out strikers. Well done to the u18 lads to grab a draw.

U18s Win Opener Against Wednesday
at 17:53:52

Very nice win from a very young u18 team. Brown and Gibbs played last night away at Hull for the u23's then played 90 minutes for the u18's which deserves recognition. Baggott had a steady game at the back and was always a threat from set pieces so was my MOM. A very good result against last season's northern division champions. Well done to all involved.

Good luck Kieron hope you get offered the opportunity you desire. It's a shame we couldn't offer you a role. Don't know much about Smith but will definitely keep an eye on his progress. Gibbs has been a real delight to watch and I'm very much looking forward to see how the club bring him on and how fast. Come back soon Kieron

U18s Thrash Brighton in Pre-Season Opener
at 09:46:51

I wasn't at the match but I have spoken to an employee of the club. He informs me that Gibbs was indeed as good as suggested so for itfc Johnson to make the comments you have tells me that maybe you are a jealous family member of one of the other boys in the squad. Please make possitive comments about any member of the squad you wish to from now on without throwing accusation around.

U16s Win Hospital Cup on Penalties
at 17:12:43

Firstly congratulations to all the academy staff who put in hour upon hour to develop these boys into what we witnessed today. There is so very good talent in this bunch of lads. Liam Gibbs take a bow young man you were different class today in my opinion. I've watched a lot of academy football and I can honestly say this lad is one of the best I have seen. Alexander had a very solid match in the middle of the pitch today also. Well done to you all well worth my £1 entry fee 😂. If we can continue to develop players in the way we currently are then the future of this club looks very exciting indeed. My MOM today can only be one player Liam Gibbs!!!. Remember that name guys. He's one of our own he's one of our own Liam Gibbs he's one of our own. Fantastic way to finish the season with a win over Norwich 😂🤣.

U18s Drop to Second After Blades Defeat
at 07:11:40

Watched the 1st half of this match. The u18's didn't play very well and looked down and out after conceding the first goal. Walked over to watch the second half of the u16's match. The u16's played some fantastic stuff scoring 6 past Sheffield Utd. Liam Gibbs grabbing 4 assists was simply different class and he wasn't with the u18's I just don't know. Unfortunately for Ipswich it looks like he might be off to one of the big clubs as I noticed a representative from Man Utd with his family. Hope Ipswich are doing all they can to hold on to this very talented young lad.

Hughes Nets From Own Half as U18s Come From Behind to Win at Birmingham
at 08:13:51

Absolutely agree muccletonjoe. I was lucky enough to watch this match and witness Hughes goal it was a worthy winner of any match. The turning point in the match for me though was the introduction of young Gibbs at half-time. 2-0 down a brave move by Aatay to bring on a schoolboy but he knew what this lad is capable of and wow did he deliver a performance. Remember his name all Liam Gibbs my MOM.

U18s Beat Leaders Cardiff to Climb to Second
at 07:58:55

Well done again u18's another assured performance. Unity throughout the team. Ipswich to be honest could have one the match more comfortably. I think the rumours surrounding Gibbs future with club are just those rumours and perhaps we all should just calm down about big clubs taking our better young players. I believe we have only lost 3 or 4 youth players to so called big clubs over the past 6 years or so. It's not like it's common practice for ipswich to have our youth players move year after year. Our current crop of young players are undoubtedly the club's future and I'm sure keeping them all will be the club's priority.
