Sunday, 14th Apr 2019 23:43

Town’s U18s were beaten 4-0 by Sheffield United at Playford Road on Saturday afternoon and as a result dropped to second place in the Professional Development League Two South table with only their game in hand on new leaders Cardiff City left to play.

The Bluebirds completed their league fixtures with a 5-1 home victory over Burnley and currently have a two-point lead at the top of the table.

The side coached by Adem Atay and Kieron Dyer, which has already qualified for the end-of-season play-offs, will win the division if they defeat Crystal Palace away in their final league game of the season on Tuesday afternoon at Goals Beckenham (KO 1pm).

Meanwhile, Town's U23s end their table-topping Professional Development League Two South campaign with a home game against Nottingham Forest at Portman Road on Monday evening (KO 7pm).

U18s: Alley, O’Reilly, T Smith, Baker, Henderson, Clements, Ruffles, Foudil, Z Brown, Dobra, Simpson. Subs: Moore, Fehrenbach, Healy, Viral, Oppong.

Watched the 1st half of this match. The u18's didn't play very well and looked down and out after conceding the first goal. Walked over to watch the second half of the u16's match. The u16's played some fantastic stuff scoring 6 past Sheffield Utd. Liam Gibbs grabbing 4 assists was simply different class and he wasn't with the u18's I just don't know. Unfortunately for Ipswich it looks like he might be off to one of the big clubs as I noticed a representative from Man Utd with his family. Hope Ipswich are doing all they can to hold on to this very talented young lad.

Not the best performance from the u18's but they are already secured in the play offs which is a great achievement. Agree Ericgates12 Gibbs is an outstanding talent.
