11. They had a huge American flag flying over their main stand. Not a good look.

Sycamore Gap vandals sentenced
at 16:45 15 Jul 2025

Should’ve been 4 years and 3 months of planting new trees. Including going back to water them, nurture them and then replant any that got vandalised.

Horticulturistas - recommed me a tree/bush that will last but won't get too big
at 20:27 1 May 2025

Olive is a good option. Make sure it’s a big pot and the ashes are well mixed in the soil. I’m afraid there can be contaminants in ashes that can be harmful to tree roots. I have experienced trees dying where well meaning relatives planted a memorial tree but the ashes involved lead to the tree dying. Hole dug, ashes spread and emptied all around and coating the roots, tree planted and then sadly the trees died within a year.

Civil Servants get 14.5% more than 'the average'
at 16:57 6 Oct 2024

I work 2/3 of my week employed as a civil servant, 1/3 running my own consultancy. My consultancy pays way more. I continue my lower paid part of what I do because I believe in it. Those doing what I do in the public sector are grossly underpaid and gone are the days of a gold plated pension, tea trolleys and everyone sodding off to the pub every Friday lunchtime. People I know in the private sector wouldn’t last in the public sector for very long.

Eddy's Word of the Day

POT. You should send this in to Viz - would make Roger's Profanisaurus.

I assume the actual act would be "refouling" or having just done it, "refouled".

"Eddy are you well?, you look a little pale"

"Tis nothing, just refouled, more ale all round"

In Pembrokeshire recommend Traeth Llyfn off the coastal path between Porthgain and Abereiddy. It's a mile from nearest car park and accessible only by a set of steps down a cliff allegedly built by Italian POW's but you'll have the sand, rock pools, & peregrines flying off the cliffs pretty much to yourself.
