POT. You should send this in to Viz - would make Roger's Profanisaurus. I assume the actual act would be "refouling" or having just done it, "refouled". "Eddy are you well?, you look a little pale" "Tis nothing, just refouled, more ale all round" |

In Pembrokeshire recommend Traeth Llyfn off the coastal path between Porthgain and Abereiddy. It's a mile from nearest car park and accessible only by a set of steps down a cliff allegedly built by Italian POW's but you'll have the sand, rock pools, & peregrines flying off the cliffs pretty much to yourself. |

Until recently I thought the line from the ‘witty’ chant sung at smaller grounds about ‘my garden shed’ went “it’s got porn and a window”. Apparently it’s a door.. |

I'm a long way from Ipswich. Given a choice of an away game or home game, I mostly choose to go away. The support is far better. I want to get over for the Plymouth game, but doubt I'll get a ticket in North and if it involves sitting down all game next to muttering, muted "fans" I'll probably not bother. Leeds, most don't like them with good reason, but I went a few years back and recall all of their stands singing and being vocal, not just the hard core behind the goals. If there is the will, it can be done at home. |

What an incredibly simplistic, defeatist, and selfish view. Global warming/ climate change is unlikely to massively affect us, but our kids and their kids it will. But you carry on shrugging your shoulders with the “Well I can’t do anything about it and quite like a proper summer” attitude. It’s easier that way for you. |

If you going for beech and can wait until winter you should be able buy bare rooted whips from a local tree nursery for a few pounds each. Buying and planting potted ones now from a garden centre will be much, much more. Good luck. |

The law you mention is the so called high hedges act. Awful piece of legislation. You'll see it banded about that all conifer hedges are not allowed to grow above 2m. This is incorrect. There is no law stating that trees and hedges are only allowed to grow to a certain height. The high hedges act can be used by council's in certain limited circumstances to order a conifer hedge owner to reduce their hedge to a certain height depending upon lots of criteria. |

Leyland cypress is the obvious one, gets a bad rep in the press but as long as you prune it regularly to maintain the shape you want, it's fine. For a bit more interest and better for the bugs, birds and beasties try beech, hornbeam or field maple. You can buy whips (saplings to joe public) fairly cheap. If you want a single row hedge plant them about 30cms apart. A thicker hedge plant 2 rows, 30cms between rows and stagger the planting. mulch with woodchip to keep weeds down and water well if no rain for 10 days or so. Prune branches in the winter. If you're flushed with cash you can buy "instant hedges". Google it, they come as the name suggests all ready at your chosen height. You don't need permission from the adjoining landowner, they can prune it themselves on their side, you don't have to. Unless you are feeling neighbourly. I'd advise not planting right on the boundary, plant a wee bit into your property. [Post edited 10 Jun 2022 9:10]

Forest Green is really a "suburb" of a large village/small town called Nailsworth at the bottom of the hill. You can forget about quaint cotswold stone cottages and princess Anne trotting by, it's a bit of a dump. The surrounding area is very nice though. |

As a kid I badgered my old man (not a football fan) to take me and a few mates to the old Oxford Utd ground on a Tuesday night. Open terrace, poured down. On the highlights on local telly you could see the town fans celebrating when we scored....and one solitary lone figure at the back stood stock still under a brolly. Bless him. |

A strange mix of pretentious knobs and chavs, markets itself as the 'gateway to the cotswolds', it's not at all, a few nice Georgian buildings if that's your thing, other than that and the racecourse and GCHQ, it could be Slough. The train station is miles from the ground and the town centre, if travelling that way. |

Crap ground, in a crap town, in a crappy end of that town. Will be my closest game next season, but thoroughly ashamed we fallen so low we have to go there. |
