What a strange game. Ipswich were in control for long periods without threatening much. Bolton had few outstanding players but seemed generally well organised.

This is the second time I've seen Town in the North and both times Burns and Evans have seriously underperformed. If anything was going to happen it was going to be through the route of Aluko, but Bonne and Norwood never seemed threatening. Apart from his dreadful mistake Edmundson had another solid game and the rest of the defence coped well with the little threat that Bolton generally presented.

Too little continuity of players and formation. Better in the second half but the horse had bolted.

Oldham Athletic v Ipswich Town Your Report added at 23:38:52
A different Town in the second half - lethargic, second to the ball and in the tackle, disengaged in the first half, when Bailey Clements was being given the run around, Luke Woolfenden looked very shaky and no one was taking control of the midfield.Oldham were the better team and I feared the worst. Walton had kept Town in the game.

Second half, Town took control. Aluko and El Mizouni, who had been putting in their pennyworth in the first half, were joined by an energetic and creative Chaplin and by a silky and sinuous Fraser. Really, game over. Burgess put in a good shift and Oldham weren't in it.

Tranmere Rovers v Ipswich Town Your Report added at 20:24:21
What a game of two halves. The first tedious and tentative, the second pacy and exciting. For me Downes was throughout the player who took hold of the game, and Huws a willing accomplice in the middle, with Jackson a really effective front runner who so deserved his excellent goal. However the game rose to a different level with the introduction of Bishop, who mesmerised Tranmere in a super cameo performance.

But perhaps the best performance was from the Ipswich supporters, who seemed to be there in huge numbers. As a senior northern Town supporter whose Ipswich-born dad took me all over the North following the blues, that was the most vocal , enthusiastic and constant support I have ever witnessed. Long may it continue - it made a difference, maybe the difference.

A game of two halves. Ipswich were disjointed and lacking in confidence and cohesion in the first half. All change in the second half, fairly relentless pressure, Skuse the only player of any quality in the first half, continued in the second half when when some other players, including Danny Rowestepped up their game. Norwood fairly innocuous throughout, Judge generally ineffective.

Strange game. The stats do not convey the gulf in quality and threat between the two sides.Preston looked like a side that had a plan, that was familiar with each other's roles and moves, despite their many injuries, and that found dangerous positions. Ipswich, for all their possession, did not get themselves into dangerous positions, and seemed completely uncoordinated down the centre of the defence. Bialkowski for the most part looked disengaged and disinterested, and Chambers and Nsiala individually seemed to need a Collins or a Pennington as a partner, not each other. For me Kenlock was OK, Judge buzzed around and seemed to have ideas, and Skuse had a good game . I always expect things from Jackson, but he's rarely in the right place at the right moment.

Ipswich were the better side, and played well, creating opportunities, but they lack a sharpshooter.Teddy Bishop made a difference when he came on, prepared to take players on and Leon Best impressed me, but the stand out player on the pitch for both sides was Adam Webster, who was decisive, brave, commanding and creative. I will be surprised if he isn't snapped up by a Premier League side within 2 seasons.

This was a poor lack-lustre performance by Town. Both teams seemed to be lacking in confidence but Rotherham's grew. Too many Ipswich players look to be out of sorts at the moment. The addition of Sears and Bishop definitely pepped Ipswich up for a while, but Murphy is going to need to re-find his scoring boots or else I can see the team sinking fast.
