Town Recall Simpson From Swindon Loan
If he were loaned to another L1 side, he would be helping just one of our competitors (and not when they play us), but potentially taking points off several of the rest. Depriving all the teams above us of three points could be very useful!
US Directors and Investors All at Sunderland Home Match
A full stadium increases the club's turnover and therefore, under financial fair play regulations, means the owners are able to put more money in as well. Which, in turn, allows a better-funded squad and more chance of promotion. Eventually, that will bring a return for the investors and pleasure for the fans who've stuck by the club when things looked grim. All-round win.
They aren't stupid.
Nsiala: Three Points Would Be Massive
He may be a legend, but his mistake-making is largely a myth, based only on a couple of things which happened a season or two ago - since when he's been extremely solid at his main job, which is keeping the ball out of our own goal. Very glad he's back fit and in the squad again.
'Good block from Toto' - Brenner Woolley, lots of times last season.
Ashton: Category One a Possibility, But it Doesn't Excite Me
Are we losing youngsters because our competitors are Cat 1, or because they are Prem and upper Champ clubs?
Sunderland are the only League One side with a Cat 1 academy and they first got that status while in the Prem.
Jacobs: I've Not Heard From Ipswich Recently
Considering lots of options, testing the water, pushing the financial boat out where necessary. Sounds like a sensible approach to assembling a squad.
Far better than just having a wish-list, then being stuffed when they don't happen and the end of the window is nearing.
Warne: I Would Expect Something to Develop on Crooks
Signing-on fees are included in SCMP, as are any in-kind benefits, such as homes, vehicles or or children's school fees, plus things like win and goal bonuses.
However, our turnover is also high by League One standards, giving us more leeway than most of our rivals.
Cowley Confirms Town Talks With Pompey Winger Jacobs
If Jacobs can help us win 25 or 30 games in the coming season, then we'll very likely get promoted, even if he misses all the rest. It's a calculated risk, not a hopeful punt. One that Cook and Ashton obviously think is worth investigating and maybe putting some money into.
