My god do our centre halfs and Palmer not look comfortable doing that. Obviously they are being coached to do it but if we wanted to play that way surely Woolfy should have stayed.
FWIW I think they do a relatively good job in the circumstances. As already mentioned they are competing against more agile social media competition and they are slightly constrained by having to maintain a relationship with the club. Stu and Alex offer some decent insight. Local media is a dying form these days.
Think we're going in for more than one on the right/across the front line then? Surely not replacing Hutch with this guy. Him and another OK but on his own would be a big downgrade.
May well be payment terms. I'm sure Marinakis is a pain to negotiate with. We need this to get done to give us enough time to move forward with replacements. No point selling in last few days of window. Hopefully we're close to finding a replacement.
Scored against Real Betis in a friendly a few weeks back so doesn't appear to be in the Cajuste or Akpom category where they haven't had any pre season.
Would hope Philogene would be fit enough for a spot on the bench. Otherwise that's probably right. Bench looks incredibly weak. 4 quality players short minimum.
It feels like we need those guys in the squad though even for optics. We seem so light on depth at the moment. Unlikely but if Omari decides he can be involved on Sunday, Philogene is fit and you have Akpom and Cajuste then things suddenly look a whole lot better.
Not sure what people expect to be honest. The lad from Chelsea would have been good but we're not going to get better than Hirst to come in as a number 2 striker. Realistically there doesn't seem to be many forwards on the market in our sweet spot. Maybe the big lad from Millwall would have been good but is he going to come in and play second fiddle.
Akpom is a coming with lots of experience and hardly over the hill at 29/30. If we go up I'm sure we can shift him out for a couple of million so seems like a reasonable deal.
I guess the point is we're 3-4 good championship players short. Cajuste and a striker and it will look much better but still feels we're 3 or 4 short, assuming Omari goes. We still have until the end of August but slightly concerning less than a week out
