Bad foul- but if thats a red
at 16:43 20 Apr 2025

Deliberate, no possibility of getting neat the ball, putting full force through the back of his standing ankle. People on here saying that is not a red are an embarrassment. Could not be clearer.

This is the most tinpot reaction so far. I’ve thought it when other struggling teams have blamed refs and I think it now. Embarrassing stuff

Takes of good signings who are knackered but still has league 1 players on the bench. Absolutely not KMc’s fault. Wind neck in

The Premier League is so nerve racking cos we’re never comfortable and you can feel it in the crowd - we were very quiet as they came on strong in second half. I wasn’t there today but I have found it hard to be in full voice this season. Spend much of it with my heart in my throat.

We’re victims of our own success, promoted too soon?
at 22:37 4 Dec 2024

Last night was a low though. Palace are exactly the level we gauge ourselves against and it was a physical mismatch. They seemed objectively stonger, faster, much more dymanic. We’ve recruited players that may well compete at that level and above in future but the a lot of the players are well below their ceiling and at this moment, we can’t compete. It then leads to people saying promotion is too early but we’ll lose Rory and Omari and although we’ll have money we’ll be down with a disrupted team, negative momentum and the EFL is tough.

Promotion is an opportunity that needs grasping, with planning for that first season, not signings that may be world class in season 5, when they are playing for someone else.

We’re victims of our own success, promoted too soon?
at 01:42 4 Dec 2024

‘Promoted too soon’ chat; it’s the height of arrogance. We haven’t been in the prem at all before now while smart phones have existed. This ‘too soon’ saying implies we can just sit in the championship and bide our time building a better side. It’s dog eat dog in the championship and our owners plow more money in than we make at that level. We need to take promotion however and whenever it comes and then make the most of it. People forget that brentford came up via the playoffs and made it stick. Binners fluked their way up from league 1 then stayed up for 3 seasons. Forrest, Bournemouth have since been massively unfancied but made it stick. We’ve been poor because we have recruited badly and have been managed by an inexperienced management team at this level. No excuses. We have not been good enough

When people complain about the refs, they rarely know the laws. Informed posts like yours get no response. Nicely done though

Ermmm, ‘suggests he got the ball’. Even your starting point is not very emphatic; thanks for proving the point. The unbiased commentators on every clip conclude Potter got there first and Clarke took him out at speed. That is a booking every single time someone steams in like that and cleans out the man. Case study of what not to do when on a yellow. We’re falling into the trap of blaming refs for our own mistakes here.

I would have liked to see our fight and phased of quality rewarded, as much as anyone but you being mystified by the examples of VAR seems to be more about you than VAR. For the penalty, the foul starts outside and continues into the box. The laws say the greater offence is punished, so it’s a pen. No question on that one.

The IFAB guidance on holding at corner, etc, is well established Although it’s open to criticism,. I didn’t see it contravened nor did you explain how it had been.

The second yellow is, unforunately, nailed on. He didn’t get the ball, but a touch on the ball would not have saved him because he has taken the player out while the attacker remained in promising possession.

We played well yesterday but came up short against a seasoned Prem team. No need to clutch at straws like this.

What you saw was Everton deploying game management for a game they had won comfortably.

Agree. We’re asking players to come in / come back and straight away play away at west ham. This is not Preston or Rotherham anymore. They won in Europe and can attract top players to London. Teams that stay up have days like this but we’re whinging and saying players ‘can’t play football’. This whole thread is tin pot. Embarrassing that some of you call yourself fans. Stick with the team, stick with the manager, stick with the club. They have earnt it. Give your head a wobble.

Confidence, commitment, but not as much quality. Got found out and need to learn quickly. Man City is a write off so we need to pick up points between game week 3 and 8 to get into the season without a troubling narrative forming. Things can sour quickly. Worried

Well, I'm a bit confused and welcome peoples unbiased comments.
at 19:07 19 Aug 2024

I watched it with an Everton fan and he was quite condescending in the first half. He said we ‘had our tails up’ said we had spirit, momentum, but would not compliment us on actual football quality. Then he said at half time that 45-75 mins was business time. He said after goal 2 Liverpool bossed that period and it was a very comfortable routine win. He said he was worried as most promoted teams are competitive at home when they first come up. I was gutted but found it difficult to argue. We seemed well out of our depth second half, and this is when confidence is sky high. We need to learn quickly or it will be a very difficult, long season.

The hardest thing I have ever had to write
at 14:53 15 Apr 2024

Hi - very brave of you to write this.

Are you sleeping ok - I suspect not?

Speaking with a little family experience, it sounds like maybe you are suffering an episode of acute anxiety. If you seek help, think carefully about types of medication offered as SSRIs are often prescribed for depression but can make acute anxiety worse initially.

You will get through this and overcoming an anxiety disorder can give you the perspective and coping mechanisms to live a mentally healthier life.

Wishing you all the best, and soon.

My thoughts on Sat
at 05:00 9 Apr 2024

There is no such thing as the ‘law of averages’ in the way you suggest. I personally want to avoid them if we have to go up via playoffs and don’t really see the merit in nice polite discussion with their fans on a forum meant for our fans. I fancy them for 5th where they then get dismantled by Southampton, so they are not relevant to Town this season. Their fans should go and talk about why their club went missing for the middle of the season and why their manager hates their fans (with good reason)

Not sure I agree with most of that
at 19:57 7 Apr 2024

Not saying it was a tactical masterclass at all, I actually couldn’t care less about how they played. If we play to our potential, we beat them home or away. I am more interested in McKenna seeming to not be his usual self against them and us not getting near that potential (twice). He would not usually slag off the opposition after losing or drawing. He usually is modest, classy and gives credit. He would not usually see a game slipping away without making a consequential change. Just seems like Norwich got to him twice, or the different significance of those particular games maybe fazed him. Hopefully we finish top 2 and that is not relevant for another 18months minimum.

KMc quotes vs Norwich
at 14:17 7 Apr 2024

Sky pundits thought it was a foul and I agree with that analysis. Sargent did check his run but he has the right to do that as he has possession of the ball and Morsy crashes through the back of him, taking him out. We were very lucky not to be down to 10. This is just one example of us giving away more opportunities than we created

KMc quotes vs Norwich
at 13:34 7 Apr 2024

Disclaimer: obviously KMc is awesome. Winning mentality instilled deep within. Astute tactical changes to change things, create goals, win games. The man is a genius, that’s not up for debate.

However… I am a bit perplexed by his interviews post Norwich specifically. They did a tactical number on us both games. Could have won the first. Definitely won the second on merit.

After PR game, Keiran says we would have won the game 9 times out of 10, which I did not really agree with and seemed a bit sour.

Then yesterday he says neither team played at a high level and there was nothing in the game. That is definitely salty. It is true for us, as we were below our best. Unfortunately, Norwich played well. They scored when well on top, defended comfortably and had several opportunities to push for a second. One of those we were lucky not to get a red.

McKenna never acknowledged that norwich did stuff we needed to respond to. More importantly he did not respond effectively in the match. Yes, teams have beaten us before this season but rarely have a team so far short of us been so comfortable against us. He really did nothing to address that then said it was Ipswich who were comfortable. I don’t buy it. It’s like he has a mental block against them.

I wonder whether the pressure to please the fans changes his approach or clouds his judgement specifically against them. Two rare off days for him, matched by really odd accounts of the game. If you’re going to criticise the opposition, better to do it after you’ve beaten them, not vice versa, or it looks like sour grapes and probably is.

Maybe sour grapes from me. Still beyond gutted.

Play-off injustice
at 15:57 9 Mar 2024

20 more points than the scum and we’re going to end up playing them over two legs.

I just feel like we never get the rub in the championship promotion races. And now it seems our historic club and this incredible team has the odds stacked against it more and more. Leeds and leicester paying EPL wages for EPL squads and are going to breach FFP and even with the parachute bribe which tries to keep the EPL a closed shop. Even if held to account later, it won’t help us.

Other clubs seems to make a habit of riding waves of good fortune into the prem and I jut feel like the dye is cast against us. Our team has been heroic but I am fed up with the weighted dice at the top of the Championship.
