The hardest thing I have ever had to write
at 14:53 15 Apr 2024

Hi - very brave of you to write this.

Are you sleeping ok - I suspect not?

Speaking with a little family experience, it sounds like maybe you are suffering an episode of acute anxiety. If you seek help, think carefully about types of medication offered as SSRIs are often prescribed for depression but can make acute anxiety worse initially.

You will get through this and overcoming an anxiety disorder can give you the perspective and coping mechanisms to live a mentally healthier life.

Wishing you all the best, and soon.

My thoughts on Sat
at 05:00 9 Apr 2024

There is no such thing as the ‘law of averages’ in the way you suggest. I personally want to avoid them if we have to go up via playoffs and don’t really see the merit in nice polite discussion with their fans on a forum meant for our fans. I fancy them for 5th where they then get dismantled by Southampton, so they are not relevant to Town this season. Their fans should go and talk about why their club went missing for the middle of the season and why their manager hates their fans (with good reason)

Not sure I agree with most of that
at 19:57 7 Apr 2024

Not saying it was a tactical masterclass at all, I actually couldn’t care less about how they played. If we play to our potential, we beat them home or away. I am more interested in McKenna seeming to not be his usual self against them and us not getting near that potential (twice). He would not usually slag off the opposition after losing or drawing. He usually is modest, classy and gives credit. He would not usually see a game slipping away without making a consequential change. Just seems like Norwich got to him twice, or the different significance of those particular games maybe fazed him. Hopefully we finish top 2 and that is not relevant for another 18months minimum.

KMc quotes vs Norwich
at 14:17 7 Apr 2024

Sky pundits thought it was a foul and I agree with that analysis. Sargent did check his run but he has the right to do that as he has possession of the ball and Morsy crashes through the back of him, taking him out. We were very lucky not to be down to 10. This is just one example of us giving away more opportunities than we created

KMc quotes vs Norwich
at 13:34 7 Apr 2024

Disclaimer: obviously KMc is awesome. Winning mentality instilled deep within. Astute tactical changes to change things, create goals, win games. The man is a genius, that’s not up for debate.

However… I am a bit perplexed by his interviews post Norwich specifically. They did a tactical number on us both games. Could have won the first. Definitely won the second on merit.

After PR game, Keiran says we would have won the game 9 times out of 10, which I did not really agree with and seemed a bit sour.

Then yesterday he says neither team played at a high level and there was nothing in the game. That is definitely salty. It is true for us, as we were below our best. Unfortunately, Norwich played well. They scored when well on top, defended comfortably and had several opportunities to push for a second. One of those we were lucky not to get a red.

McKenna never acknowledged that norwich did stuff we needed to respond to. More importantly he did not respond effectively in the match. Yes, teams have beaten us before this season but rarely have a team so far short of us been so comfortable against us. He really did nothing to address that then said it was Ipswich who were comfortable. I don’t buy it. It’s like he has a mental block against them.

I wonder whether the pressure to please the fans changes his approach or clouds his judgement specifically against them. Two rare off days for him, matched by really odd accounts of the game. If you’re going to criticise the opposition, better to do it after you’ve beaten them, not vice versa, or it looks like sour grapes and probably is.

Maybe sour grapes from me. Still beyond gutted.

Play-off injustice
at 15:57 9 Mar 2024

20 more points than the scum and we’re going to end up playing them over two legs.

I just feel like we never get the rub in the championship promotion races. And now it seems our historic club and this incredible team has the odds stacked against it more and more. Leeds and leicester paying EPL wages for EPL squads and are going to breach FFP and even with the parachute bribe which tries to keep the EPL a closed shop. Even if held to account later, it won’t help us.

Other clubs seems to make a habit of riding waves of good fortune into the prem and I jut feel like the dye is cast against us. Our team has been heroic but I am fed up with the weighted dice at the top of the Championship.

Last 8 Form Table
at 10:50 4 Feb 2024

We are nailed on for top 6 but I feel we will struggle to keep pace with Leeds and (even more so) Southampton for good reason. We had a real winning habit coming into the season and real stability and contentment, which gives momentum. They both had a losing habit and a rebuild to do. But they also had the trappings and budget from coming out of the prem. We have seen all three sides simply have a reversion to their mean where over the long season they reach their potential and we lose our momentum.

That is why we should be and can only be delighted with 4th. Then we will win the playoffs. It will be epic.

If we do end up in the playoffs
at 17:08 3 Feb 2024

We’ll win it at Wembley which will be glorious.

There are four great teams in the division all averaging two points a game, which is championship form in many a season.

Positions 3 and 4 (which may include us) will destroy positions 5 and 6 over two legs.

Then it looks like maybe us vs Leeds in the final.

We will win at Wembley and it will be magnificent.

Mark this post.

Leeds players celebrating as if they have won the league
at 13:49 3 Feb 2024

Trying to make a link between ‘tinpot’ and ‘woke’ is a bit of a stretch. Can you even explain the link because I don’t get it?

There’s no need to have a go at a team celebrating. That’s what you want from football - to celebrate big wins. If we’d won 6 in row to get back in the race we would also be slightly jovial.

So it does make us seem rattled.

And who is rattled? I guess I am too. Table was looking a lot healthier 6 weeks ago. I am still backing us (and so is the board with the signings) but we don’t need to have a go at each other and other teams.

This post is tinpot. Yes we’re under pressure but let’s not get rattled. We need to keep our heads. Back the lads, and ignore the form of others. In our hands.

Should this offender serve their time in a woman or man prison?
at 15:12 29 Jan 2023

She does not have a gender recognition certificate, yet, as it goes.

People make an issue about whether she serves her time in men’s or women’s prisons but it’s unlikely to be the key point. Like all inmates, there should be a risk assessment. She is a dangerous person, with a history of violence towards women and would likely be unsafe if put in the general population at a mens prison, so wherever she ends up, she should be segregated from the population and supervised on safety grounds.

There is no rule saying prisoners need to be assigned a prison based on gender or that genders need to be segregated. She will be a guest of his majesty and his majesty just needs to try to keep all his guests (including her) safe.

shhhhh! ...we are good enough to be a Championship club again.

We have the history and resources but I checked the league table and it says we are good enough to be in the league 1 playoffs. So good enough for a 1 in 4 chance of being a Championship club

Burnley budget
at 17:42 28 Jan 2023

I heard they enticed Vincent Kompany by saying ‘with all our earnings from years establised in the prem and the first year of lucrative parachute payments, we can give you 85% of the budget of the mighty Argyle’. Give your head a wobble. This is drivel.

We have to accept we are a league one team. They are the top championship side and on way to the prem. Yes, the FA cup is neither of our priorities but it is an upset that we held them. If that annoys you, you haven’t accepted how far we fell under Evans

McKenna misinformed about postponement?

Not at all. The league had nothing to do with the decision making. Seems almost entirely the police advising the club. EFL not even involved in the ‘trick’

McKenna misinformed about abandonment?
at 14:57 22 Jan 2023

Missed the part where you were confusing laws within the game (what to do with tackles) with rules of a sporting competition. Rules of competition do form part of the legal framework of sport and often end up in ICAS disputes. So precedent is legally important. Laws of the game are different because they are provided for in the rules of the competition by basically saying ‘the referee is correct unless we decide otherwise’. You’ve posted war and peace and then confused yourself

So the clubs and the police colluded to make the announcement. The EFL released a statement after the event. Does not equate to the EFL being or admitting being tricky

As it goes, they saw no reason to change the result. The score after 82 minutes stood. There are a century of examples. I’m not wikipedia and don’t need to list all of them. If you disagree, find some examples from the century that are contrary

Just because you posted an essay on postponements does not mean the EFL are silent on abandonments. Their rules say it’s at the EFL Board’s discretion, with reference to IFAB and FA rules.

Would love to see your source of the EFL admitting it tricked the public…
