I don’t think it’s about ceding to the demands of the agent. If the transfer was wrapped up for £35m much earlier in the window, we wouldn’t have had all the disruption and funds would then be available to strengthen the squad at a much earlier stage. I appreciate that the make up of the deals, I.e money up front etc. may have been an issue, but would have been better for all concerned to have had this wrapped up a month ago, even for £2.5m less. |
