| Forum Thread | McKenna: risk versus gamble at 14:37 27 May 2024
If McKenna moves to Brighton- or any other club- he will need to prove himself all over again. Forget everything he has accomplished so far and risk it all on a throw of the dice, that his system will work equally well at another club at the highest level of football, because that will be the expectation. He will have abandoned an organisation and an entire town that has committed itself to providing everything he has needed to get to this point, with added commitments to long-term investments to keep it that way. And he will not have the twin pillars of back-to-back promotions to lean on if times get tough because those will instantly be part of his past and not a enduring part of his present should he remain at Town. At ITFC, he has time and support to build a strong and enduring foundation with an organisation that shares his vision and provides the "oxygen" to continue to help him grow. If he chucks all that away, he risks everything on quick success. And what would that success have to look like to charm the fanbase the way he has at Ipswich Town? Is there that much headroom at Brighton for him to make that sort of dramatic improvement? The headroom remains in our favour. Kieran has shown a significant tolerance for risk, but there's a difference between a risk and a gamble. |

Anticipating scoreless draws followed by scoreless overtimes followed by a few pens during which they might actually score. Thank god and/or Kieran McKenna we're not part of that mess. And thankful that next season we'll already be several points ahead of the side automatically promoted with us, who, by the way, should get an asterisk after their league championship this season for finishing a mere point above a newly promoted side while violating FFP. |

What an absolute yawner of a match that was. Let’s see what West Brom and Southampton have to offer. |

If so, maybe we could get him on a free transfer. :-D Wages would be an issue, however. Here's the transfer list from Transfermarkt. https://www.transfermarkt.us/statistik/saisontransfers Nearly 50% of newly promoted teams drop right back down again (45% according to data from fivethirtyeight.com), however only 12% of those who invest 50 million or more in players take the drop. Hope Ed's shirt sponsorship is worth at least what it will take to buy Omari (4.5m). [Post edited 8 May 11:48]

Love seeing all the comments on social media from bitter fans of other clubs expecting us to be "one and done" in the Prem next season. The same sort were saying the same thing this time last year about us in the Championship, and while our two worthy competitors who were promoted with us narrowly escaped relegation, we soared to the autos. And that is the nature of our ownership group and, of course, our manager, and our players. We are different. We are dynamic. We respect the challenges and work hard to understand and address them. Gamechanger 20, Ashton, McKenna- they are young, aggressive, infinitely capable and have crafted an organization and a team unlike any other. And our fans have supported and celebrated them, pouring fuel on the blue flame. At Ipswich Town, our aspirations are not just to compete. Our aspirations have always been to succeed. And to succeed sustainably. We are not a blue rose that blooms for us to marvel while it lasts, but a blue rose at which we marvel BECAUSE it lasts. "Ipswich will fade?" Anyone who says that simply hasn't been paying attention. So, to all those who underestimate the resolve, the determination, and the genius of Ipswich Town, we say: you ain't seen nothin' yet. |

I did. That's who. Just wish I'd put the house and retirement fund on 'em. Ha. |
| Forum Thread | We'll be Hull City's 3rd match in 8 days, as we rest for 2 weeks at 14:48 14 Apr 2024
Our next match will be Hull City's 3rd in 8 days. They have 2 away fixtures before we arrive, including a 300-mile roundtrip to Coventry on a Wednesday evening prior to our match the following Saturday. They have no choice but to go all out in each of them to keep their playoff hopes alive. Meanwhile, we'll have had two weeks of rest and recovery. At the end of a gruelling season, that would seem huge advantage for us, baked right into the schedule. |
| Forum Thread | Why all the changes? at 18:45 13 Apr 2024
Certainly, changes must be made for injury, but with just a few critical games remaining, we have changed up to half the outfield side, game by game, at discretion. And you can see the effects on the pitch, that we are missing that innate sense of awareness and understanding that comes from being out there with a bunch of guys you instinctively know are going to be in particular places doing particular things. Ipswich are more than the sum of our parts, unless we scramble them all up. |
