Can we please not moan about VAR next season
at 09:23 31 Aug 2025

One incident I haven’t seen again is when Matt Clarke slid in to block a cut back from McAteer in the 1st half. It looked to me that it hit his trailing arm and might have been something the clown show in the VAR studio would have had a look at.

Philogene stats from today make for ugly reading ...

Absolutely this. He occupies space and gets on the ball but generally has done nothing bar a few flicks.

Snap reaction: Gone from an almost unacceptable result to still a very poor one!
at 17:47 30 Aug 2025

In isolation that result against a team unwilling to play any football would be fine. It’s football after all and you can’t win every game.

The problem is that Bromley, Preston and Derby have broadly all played the same way and we’ve been utterly unable to defend against it properly or create any real chances.

For all the excitement with the signings

Quite liked McAteer - much more direct than whatever Philogene was attempting when he switched to the right. Azon looked lively with a good touch.

Probably going to have to go on a mad League 1 run of wins to get close to the top at this rate mind. Particularly if teams continue to play anti-football against us.

Suggest you lay it off on a betting exchange if you think it's too short

My biggest takeaway from the game today was the standard
at 10:55 18 Aug 2025

1st half Southampton kept doing the old Pep trick of making fouls in the opposition half when they lost the ball. Had the ref actually booked someone sooner for that it would have been a different game.

Also unsure how Downes didn't get booked for dissent given his reaction to the foul going against him on his 1st handball

Talking of migration
at 22:19 17 May 2025

They are taxing you to pay for pensioners. If we don’t have immigration taxes would be even higher.

Taxation is going to get even worse as cigarette and fuel duty receipts continue to plummet. I’m unsure what it will be replaced with given the media continue to give credence to the pay per mile/15 minute city conspiracists.

for all the people who suggest we shouldn't criticise reform or their voters

Agree with this wholeheartedly.

Rightly or wrongly a political class has been created that has no experience of what actually occurs in the world of business/working life, all of which is broadly supported by an old school boys networks of journalists. Reform are only getting publicity thanks to that network whereas the Greens, who have been successful for far longer, get no coverage at all.

Their taxes are being used to pay for boomer generation pensioners. And without immigration the taxes required to service our increasingly aged population (especially as cigarette taxes decrease/increase life expectancy) will increase still further.

Simple sound bite solution and blame game politics solve none of this, and Reform (and the 2 main parties) need constantly calling out on this

I don’t think they will. Now they are in charge of councils they’ll hopefully be shown up as easy answer people pleasers unfit for power.

The worry is how much of the capitalist establishment is behind them. The electorate that is voting for them honestly has no idea about what true capitalists actually think about them. They aspire and think there is potential to be them, but it will never be allowed to ever happen.

Less, given he ambled up to the goalkeeper rather than running/jumping at full pelt

Point of order - Third World was not created as a racist term. It referred to countries that were not aligned with the Capitalist powers (1st World) or the Communist bloc (2nd world)

What do Labour need to learn from the US election?

Based on what I heard from him on the Rest of Politics live stream if they can keep Peter Hyman around they will certainly be in a good place to help counter that.
