They are taxing you to pay for pensioners. If we don’t have immigration taxes would be even higher. Taxation is going to get even worse as cigarette and fuel duty receipts continue to plummet. I’m unsure what it will be replaced with given the media continue to give credence to the pay per mile/15 minute city conspiracists. |

Agree with this wholeheartedly. Rightly or wrongly a political class has been created that has no experience of what actually occurs in the world of business/working life, all of which is broadly supported by an old school boys networks of journalists. Reform are only getting publicity thanks to that network whereas the Greens, who have been successful for far longer, get no coverage at all. |

Their taxes are being used to pay for boomer generation pensioners. And without immigration the taxes required to service our increasingly aged population (especially as cigarette taxes decrease/increase life expectancy) will increase still further. Simple sound bite solution and blame game politics solve none of this, and Reform (and the 2 main parties) need constantly calling out on this |

I don’t think they will. Now they are in charge of councils they’ll hopefully be shown up as easy answer people pleasers unfit for power. The worry is how much of the capitalist establishment is behind them. The electorate that is voting for them honestly has no idea about what true capitalists actually think about them. They aspire and think there is potential to be them, but it will never be allowed to ever happen. |

Point of order - Third World was not created as a racist term. It referred to countries that were not aligned with the Capitalist powers (1st World) or the Communist bloc (2nd world) |

And if someone had added the comment "but nowhere near the levels under Thatcher" what would you have taken that as? |

I really take issue with the continuing call for mortgage rates to come down. Interest rates are currently at a "normal" historical level. The outlier has been the low interest rate environment as a result of the global economic crisis https://tradingeconomics.com/united-kingdom/interest-rate What we need is adults talking facts in political discourse, but instead we get intellectual pygmies or charismatic chancers peddling easy solutions to complex problems. And wht happens when the easy solutions don't work? More distrust in politicians and further moves towards populism. |

As usual with all of these things let's not take a window where we have had historically low interest rates and look at a longer term picture. Gilt yields are currently at the average level they were at pre the global financial collapse and lower than the 20 years preceding it. https://tradingeconomics.com/united-kingdom/government-bond-yield The problem with what Truss did was that the increase was so dramatic - mortgages rates were always going to rise but her catastrophic economics meant the increase was that much sharper for a lot of people at a time when they were already facing high utility bill increases. |

Absolutely spot on. How Tim Robinson has made it so far as a ref is baffling though. As stated previously it was an absolute coin flip on every decision up until the penalty incident. After that he seemingly gave us nothing, the worst of which was an identical challenge on Leif to the Phillips sending off which he waved away and allowed Leicester to carry the ball into the box. |

It was League One-esque referring yesterday. Leicester fans (and players) were clearly upset with the blatant inconsistency as well. However, after the sending off he seemingly decided that nothing was worthy of a foul against us. I never seen such an explosion of rage from Churchamns when the equaliser went in and the boos at full time were richly deserved. |

I was successful in the Leicester ballot and had no problem getting 3 seats next to each other |
