Veseli's Town Career Over
at 07:23:27

Some of you need to get a grip. I could understand this hysteria more if he had actually played some games for us and tore the place up. As things stand, he isn't good enough to hold down a place of his own, as there are better players ahead of him in the queue. He cost nothing, it was a gamble, he's moving on end of story. Wish the lad luck, and take a chill pill. We're a lot better than under Keano and Jewell. Let Mick get on with his job and be happy we have something approaching stability for the first time in 5 years.

Town Linked With McCarthy Talks
at 22:11:46

i've said it elsewhere but Mick McCarthy, would be a solid choice. With regards to the above post, Curbishley has been out of the game too long, that's the trouble we had with Jewell. Mccarthy is fresh (comparatively). Anyway whatever we say on here isn't going to have a bearing on the choice, but whoever it is, we need to get behind them and give them time (and that is a reasonable amount of time, not 2 or 3 games) to get to grips with the team and build.

Chopra Defends Night Out Five
at 22:03:03

gotta say that in fairness, provided that they weren't supposed to be at work the next day, i can't see what all the fuss is about. they are allowed to have time out just the same as anyone else. the other thing is this, when the stuff hits the fan, a good night out in the company of my friends sorts me out and gets my head straight, that's just what they were doing. i'd rather they blow off some steam and feel more relaxed going into tomorrow's game, than constantly come under scrutiny in frankly pointless new paper articles, and sink further.

Mohsni Joins Blues
at 15:11:33

nice one, its been a good couple of days. to those moaning about the amount of loanees, you have to put it in perspective. at least 3 of them [N'Daw, Mohsni, and Murphy] are out of contract at the end of the season and are realistic targets to acquire either in january or the end of the season. Not sure about Higginbothams contract situation, but again he would be a good shout if things work out. Luongo is a classy player learning his trade, Wellens is a very good championship player, and DJ Campbell is an accomplished striker at this level. Whats to grumble about?

Higginbotham Joins On Loan
at 01:41:40

some of the people on here just love to moan don't they? welcome the new guy on board, and support the team. if all you care about is winning every game go support man united or chelsea or barca. We haven't actually been playing that badly this season, i.e. we have been entertaining to watch, which is massive improvement from the keane era. we were the better team against wolves but still lost due to an individual error and a goal out of nowhere. As someone already mentioned Tommy smith had a good game other than the own goal. get a grip.

Target Kuszczak Was at Town for Talks
at 13:57:46

excellent post dissboy, that's exactly the point. too many people on here are unrealistic in their expectations. the simple fact is, we are getting a team together, and that's going to take time. too much time is spent on here with people moaning that we don't have instant success. i remember the year we were laughed out of the premier league after picking up the dubious honour of being smashed 9-0 by man utd. that was a low point, but we regrouped and came back stronger although it took several years to get there. as you rightly point out its the lows that are what make the highs so much sweeter.

Second Bid for Portsmouth Duo Turned Down
at 22:27:00

Will some of you people get a fecking grip! Just because Portsmouth are in a tricky situation doesn't mean they are going to roll over and give up their players for peanuts. Likewise just because we need players we shouldn't be held to ransom. Let the deal run its course and if it can be done it will be done. Some of you are complete idiots. Hysterical behaviour isn't going to get us out of this.

Jewell Struggling for Ways to Explain Defending
at 12:11:27

for the last time we did not start the game at 4-4-2! jewell took a gamble and set us up 3-5-2, we got smashed out od sight for the first 11mins and conceded 2 goals so he was forced to go 4-4-2 with people having to play out of position! its not fricking rocket science. he made the correct changes at half time to get us back in the game, but southampton had enough quality to punish on the break when we were chasing the game. as soon as it went 2-4 it was game over. its disappointing, frustrating and it hurts seeing our team get battered like that, but we do have a defensive crisis on our hands. its not like the team we have is massively bad, just that a weakness at the back is a seriously liability. once thats addressed we will be a lot better.

RAH4 I'm glad I wasn't the only one that noticed the formation from the start. Everyone else I spoke to thought we started as 4-4-2! We clearly didn't and got smashed. Hence the makeshift 4-4-2 after their second goal. JET and Chops have to be up front, and we desperately need a CB. Other than that we 're not in massively bad shape.

Jewell Struggling for Ways to Explain Defending
at 23:43:20

there is no way we started as 4-4-2 is all i can say. it looked like it was supposed to be 3-5-2 with delaney kennedy and smith in defence with edwards and cresswell as wingbacks and bowyer andrews and leadbitter in midfield with scotland and chopra up front. theres no other way that line up could have played! we were 2 goal down in 11mins and all at sea, when we changed to 4-4-2 with people out of position. we are lucky it wasn't 6-0 at half time. at half time to his credit jewell mad ethe changes i was expecting and we played very well to get to 2-3. leadbitter had a chance to equalise that didn't happen and the game was lost at that point. if there is no better illustration how better JET is through the centre i don't know, but chopra had someone to feed off when he came on. andrews goal came from a chopra shot that hit the post, and JET was a massive concern for the southampton defence. i was having a drink after the gane with a few southampton fans who couldn't beleive he didn't start up front. the other thing i took from them was the fact that effectively they've had stability for 3 seasons and the team has evolved from that. so to all the town fans raging on here take heart they got themselve sto this stage with patience is a good football manager and gave him time to build a team.

Jewell Weighing Up Formation Change for Saints Clash
at 15:06:56

Tractorboybig I was just trying to point out that we weren't bad in the first half unlike so many people on here would have us believe. The second half performance wasn't as good as the first and we lost energy and momentum. Mostly due to hull getting more in to the game and neutralising our midfield. Once that happened we needed to change the game plan, which happened too late in the game. It's early days and like I was trying to suggest we need to have faith. We are only 2 games in and people are moaning like we are the worst team in the history of football already. Let's just see how we get on for a few games before proclaiming our certain relegation eh?

its also worth pointing that we not a bad team, unlike some of the hysterical posters on here, i was at the game saturday, and we played well first half, its just that hull played well as well. it was only in the second half the performance dipped.

Jewell Weighing Up Formation Change for Saints Clash
at 14:01:17

i see what people mean about our defence being frail and needing protection, however that then limits our own attacking qualities, and when we go a goal down its very difficult to get back in the game. we're lucky in some respects that bristol weren't up to much on the first day, that allowed us to make the most of their mistakes and michael chopra's quality. however hull were much better organised, and dealt with what we had very well, we only went up a gear when ellington came on because it put the onus on them to defend. southampton are a very good attacking side and if we set up defensively against them i fear that if we go a goal down we won't get into the game.

well against northampton JET was in the attacking midfield role just behind the two strikers as was very good, he tailed off later in the game when he was put out wide. hopefully he gets the nod tonight to either play along side chopra or supporting him through the middle. from what i've seen of mr's scotland and ellington so far, they are very similar players, and neither look massivley effective.

Bullard Player of the Year

bullard thoroughly deserves the award for the impact he had on our season, he basically gave us fans a massive lift and hope when we were staring a relegation dogfight straight in the face. so for all those people giving it the 'he wasn't here for the season' nonsense, give it a rest. you can wax lyrical all you like about macauley but the defense hasn't exactly been covered in glory this season. on reflection this result is fair because bullard gave us so much in a season otherwise devoid of entertainment.
