Not too concerned right now. Starting 11 is more or less the team which went on a good run at the end of last season. Could do with a bit more strength in depth but this will come in the next few weeks. |

A little disappointed by this as I understood that we were in pole position to sign a top player from a lower division on a free transfer, but you win some, you lose some.
In contrast, you have to question the mentality of anyone who would be that keen to sign for Blackburn at the moment. The club has been in spectacular and very public turmoil for years now, so a move there would be pretty risky. Presumably they have made him an offer he couldn't refuse (in a good way, not a Godfather type thing...) |

Maybe he isn't any better than Tommy Smith? Signing footballers isn't cheap and ITFC have been burned too many times in recent years by players who haven't been up to scratch or came in for the wrong reasons (mercenaries). I agree that we need to bring in some extra cover, but I'd rather PJ made sure he brought the right people in than signing players for the sake of it |

Would like LM to stay, but the ball is firmly in his court now. He knows he can walk away for free at the end of his contract, so it will depend on how reasonable he is willing to be in terms of his demands. I expect that the club will offer him the best deal they can under FFP but I'm not convinced he will take it. Forgive me for being cynical, but there have been too many players in recent years who "wanted to stay" and then jumped ship at the first opportunity. |

Sounds promising. Won Player of the year and Fan's player of the year while at Hearts, so must have something going for him. Looks pretty good on the youtube video (even if it is 3/4 of the way through before he catches the ball!) but wont judge him on that (after Priskin).
PJ should also sign up the 2 french lads, if for no other reason than because they have cool names! |

A relative unknown but supposedly has a pretty good rep. Can't judge him on the basis of the highlights video (it doesn't show any of the goals that got past him - and there were a few if you keep an eye on the scores!). Displaced the former Arsenal man and Swedish No 1, which is pretty impressive, and probably wouldn't be very expensive given that he is playing in Swedish 2nd division. Gut instinct says he could be worth a punt, but hopefully the scouts will do their homework and make sure. Time will tell... |

I think it is important that PJ gets the decision on the next goalkeeper right. The club has had far far too many different keepers over the past few years and I suspect that this has contributed more than anything to the problems at the back. Loach was very highly rated not so long ago but has since had a bit of a dip in form. Hopefully this is just temporary and a fresh start would bring the best out of him. |

I agree with Jewell - it IS going to be a tough season. We wont know exactly how tough however, until the end of August at the earliest.
I don't really understand why so many are on here moaning already. It will be tough but that's not to say that our team wont be up to the challenge? And would it really be better for PJ to build up the expectations to unrealistic levels again? I think not... |

Could be a very good signing, or a very bad one (if historic injury record were to repeat itself) only time would tell. Personally I would like this to work, for the right price, however I suspect that the "genuine family reason" is just as likely to rule us out as any financial issue... |
