New away kit is interesting
at 14:20 9 Jul 2020

Totally agree, I was hoping for a black kit so seeing that they went black for the GK kit is really frustrating

People liking this kit need their eyes testing or probably have eye watering wardrobes.

It's horrendous, I applaud the idea but as a kit it's awful. Shame as i wanted to use my ST rebate to buy away shirt if it had been something good. Real shame

As many as a 6th say no to C-19 vaccination?
at 17:01 7 Jul 2020

Glad you posted that. I've previously said I won't be rushing up for a C-19 vaccine either, but i'm not anti vacc as few have accused me of.

I personally just have a bit of unease with a vaccine that is going to get pushed through in a year or so when the normal process would take perhaps 5-10 years as the necessary trials etc. How can anyone know if there are potentially any long term side effects, impossible to know.

I have had flu vaccine before and been ill for two days afterwards. I then had a dose of flu 4 months later that left me in bed for a week, probably because it was a different strain to the vaccine so that was pretty pointless

There will be no guarantees with this vaccine in terms of strains and long term effects won't be known for years. If the vacc proves to be a one-stop fix and full immunity than i'll have it, but if it proves to be seasonal and have different strains then I don't think i would unless I had underlying health issues or was deemed more a risk patient then I would have the vaccine for sure.

at 12:20 22 Jun 2020

This is where you re wrong. Racism is everywhere, in every industry and facet of life in the UK. Most countries are institutionally racist. It is not about a few bad apples...it is way more systemic than that.

Maybe not by people being outspoken about someone's colour or being abusive, but through discrimination, lack of opportunities, sub-conscious bias. It's all there. if you deny this and say oh it's not a problem because other places have it worse is just poor form and shows you have little understanding or are just blinkered.

Oh jee, classic TWTD in the last few days what with Dolly's most recent meltdown and now Mach and Sprucey facing off.

Need to arrange something for a Zoom team meeting. We've done a few quizzes, bingo and guess who, so need something a bit different as really don't want to do another quiz.

Only needs to be short 10-15 mins or so.

I think Town (along with many other clubs) are going to have a shock when it comes to season ticket sales for the next season.

- COVID-19 and the economic situation will strain individuals finances.
- Those that currently have spare income may decide to prioritise other things in case job is at risk rather than cough up for a ST.
- We have just finished mid-table in third tier of English football, that'll take a few hundred if not thousands off the gate and ST numbers.
- An extended break from football may leave some yearning for it but equally as many (such as myself) have really not missed it at all and i don't feel any great pull to go and watch us currently (sad times).
- We have a larger than average ST support that are not living locally and i get the impression the travel for many long-term fan is becoming less justifiable based on the dire performances year after year no matter what level we drop to.
- We have an owner that many have lost faith in (if they ever had it) to ever get this club upwardly mobile.
- We have a manager who has failed in his two seasons, led us to our lowest finish in 60 odd years and seemingly seems absolutely lost with this squad and tactically inept.
- There is generally no plan or structure around the club to hint at any positivity and further decline is very possible.
Bright lights such as Downes, Wolfenden etc are very much likely not to be lining up in a Town shirt at the start of the next season.

It really would not surprise me if our ST's fell to less than 7 or 8k for next season. If Marcus isn't planning for that he's going to have a nasty shock.

Writing this post makes me generally fear for the club I love. Just when we think it can't get any lower we seem to revel in making a mess of everything.

This thread demonstrates exactly why Lucan (and many others) no longer really post. Place is no longer what is used to be. People who disagree don't leave it...they just continue to snipe and try press people's buttons.

Sad really...after the sticky post about this being a great community at the start of COVID, i think there are many (probably even myself at times) who need to take a good look at themselves when they post regarding differences in opinion.

Why are you surprised?

EU subsidies for British farmers were a big deal to many. Any Welsh farmer who thinks he is better off without EU subsidies because of some promises from UK government is a puppet, they have shot themselves in the foot, they'll realise in about 5 years all be moaning but they'll probably still vote Tory because most people are 'thick'* when it comes to politics

* I'm not calling people thick in general....just from a political perspective when they vote for something that is going to harm them without realising

Fao reluctant/nervous shoppers
at 09:26 1 Jun 2020

We've managed to do all our grocery shopping online through a mixture of Sains, Tesco and Waitrose. Haven't been to a supermarket for 12 weeks which feels wonderful, i generally hate them.

The trick is to check each day, early and late. Tesco quite often have slots for the next day if you check late in the evening. As Guthers states they often release slots as people change their mind I assume and change delivery date. With Tesco you can book a slot and then change it if you ever see a better or more convenient slot available which is what we do.

Also you can amend items in your basket anytime up to 24 hrs before the delivery which is very helpful.

I’ve cried twice this weekend already...
at 21:36 31 May 2020

If i was a black American i'd be angry. What American's think is the greatest country in the world couldn't be more wrong:

June 16,1944

George Stinney Jr. was the youngest person to be sentenced to death in the 20th century in the United States.
He was only 14 years old when he was executed in an electric chair.
During his trial, even on the day of his execution, he always carried a bible in his hands, claiming to be innocent.
He was accused of killing two white girls, 11-Year-old Betty, and Mary of 7, the bodies were found near the house where the teenager resided with his parents.
At that time, all members of the jury were white. The trial lasted only 2 hours, and the sentence was dictated 10 minutes later.
The Boy's parents were threatened, and prevented from being present in the courtroom, and subsequently expelled from that city.
Before the execution, George spent 81 days in prison without being able to see his parents.
He was held in solitary, 80 miles from his city. He was alone without the presence of his parents or a lawyer.
He was electrocuted with 5,380 volts in his head, imagine all that voltage in a teenager's head.
70 years later, his innocence was finally proven by a judge in South Carolina. The boy was innocent, someone set it up to blame him for being black.

erm do you not think this is a case of the people on the beach being cleared by the police to allow space for the helicopters to land rather than huddling to watch proceedings??
