Ipswich Town 2-1 Charlton Athletic - Match Report
at 02:39:57

I presume someone deleted the offending comment cos nothing here now and I didn’t see it earlier. But sounds appalling. As were the boos for Muric.

Come Birmingham, KM has a huge decision to make regarding the starting GK…. I also don’t write off Muric making a return but he’ll need thick skin and visible support from the defenders. One mistake and the boo army will be after him.

But there is a further dilemma emerging. We have five GK’s. If nobody wants to take Aro and Cieran can’t find a loan, we will have to “not register” two of the five. Button will be one but who else? Can’t register four as we’re short of outfield slots.

Unbelievable that Sky can get away with picking a Friday 8pm slot for a game hundreds of miles away. Town fans won’t get home until 4pm or thereabouts.

McKenna: Hirst Primed For Good Season
at 01:49:37

Nice positive article about George spoilt by some repetitive comments about his fitness and needing more strikers. We all know he had a couple of (unrelated) injuries and we need more cover up front. But we don’t need to keep reading about it over and over again. Can we not just be happy for George for once?

By the way we’ll never develop Ali if we add more strikers and don’t give him minutes: same for Elkan and Cam. Sooner or later these guys need a baptism of fire

I was a bit disappointed when we let him go without a second look back here (eg in pre season last year). He’d had an injury or two but felt he had potential. Felt same about Idris.

Stanislas Appointed First-Team Coach as Town Add Set-Piece Analyst
at 02:05:22

Substantial backroom changes were likely inevitable as we progress along MA’s multi-year pathway to becoming a sustainable top-tier outfit that can also compete for European football and occasionally challenge for a trophy. Even now, despite rapid and huge progress, we may be less than half way thru the journey.

I just hope that at the end of it, we are more than a just a cash generating feeder for bigger clubs - which seems what Brighton’s owner is content with (imagine how frustrated their fan base must be at the constant sales of their best, clearly at the expense of those dreams two years ago of becoming an established top 6 side competing in Europe).

McKenna: Nothing in the Air Regarding Omari's Situation
at 01:31:10

Fingers crossed Omari Is happy to stay as he is the most talented player we have. Aside Omari I’d say only Dara is genuinely “PL ready” as things stand so it will be a huge win if we keep keep him. Then as numerous others inevitably improve this season, including George Jack Jaden Cam Jacob Leif and the new guys et al, we will have a stronger side than last time when we’re back to the PL this time next year…..

Halajko New Director of Football Operations, Chenery Appointed Academy Manager

No criticism from me regarding these roles. I’m sure MA has made them with good reason. That said Dinitri has been a bit of a job hopper. 8 jobs in last 15 years. Average tenure 2 years. Assuming he’s good at his job, let’s hope he manages more than one more year at Town.

He can player full back, left wing back and left wing so it’s not hard to imagine we might want him as a left sided midfielder. Let’s face it we’re a tad short in that Dept

Brentford Reportedly Eyeing Hutchinson
at 17:19:36

He is perhaps our only genuine PL ready player imo. Ok maybe Dara but Omari is a class above and still only 21 with huge upside potential. He struggled to adapt in the first half last season but learned and improved and by end of season he was looking good. He’d have looked even better if we’d had a few more players of his level.

If we’re going to survive in the PL next time around we need more players of Omari’s calibre. And by the way £35m doesn’t got a long when it comes to PL ready players

Ex-Town Defender Tuanzebe Suing Manchester United
at 16:36:16

He had achieved basically nothing in his entire career until KMc rescued it. Even then his injury woes continued and were made worse by the ridiculous glass incident. Despite the injuries he had finally settled and made a career home for himself only to let his wife (the one not doing the dishes) dictate his career. I won’t be surprised at all if he only makes 20 games for Burnley and hopefully we give a wave to each other as we crossover at the end of next season

Town Confirm Matusiwa Signing
at 02:20:24

@armchair surely Kipre is AT’s replacement?.

You may be right about one more creative MF coming in (Jens would be ideal) but there again CamH has to get his chance with us sooner or later. He is still young but he looks more solid and mature than previous and need minutes…

Seems to me a striker is the priority now along with keeping Omari.

Town Not Up For Sale
at 02:06:10

It was initially reassuring to read the Twtd clarification about new investment without a change of ownership and that there is no headlong rush to sell £100m of players, (which even including Delap money, would gut the team of its best talent and setback promotion prospects by a season or more).

But then i re-read BJ’s letter and, even allowing for some curious wording, the clarification doesn’t stack up given what BJ actually said.

1. Three Lions Capital has negotiated the rights to acquire a controlling interest
2. Total capital raise of between £184M and £214M to acquire a majority stake
3. Up to £100M+ in player sale proceeds. (Note the + sign).

Fact is Three Lions are looking for £180m++. The letter does not say this is new capital. In fact it implies it’s replacing existing capital in exchange for control. And it does specifically call out a figure of £100m for sales, notably with no reference to ground redevelopment costs….

Re player sales. We must respect right of owners to be able to realise some profit, but it’s crazy to always sell all your best players as Southampton found out some years ago and BHA may be finding out now. I suspect Brighton’s final league position will continue to decline. Bottom half calling next season and all their supporters’ hopes dashed of at last winning something or playing in Europe. Let’s hope we can avoid that. I’d rather stay in the Championship!

New Waterfront Bar Named in Tribute to Legend Mariner
at 04:16:14

We’ll find out soon enough if they’re serious about the Mariner connection as opposed to being opportunist Marketeers. If they are serious then we’ll see a few subtle touches of Paul Mariner memorabilia. I hope that’s the case. Either way it’s a crowded waterfront and new outlets need to differentiate - and so Marinero cleverly hits multiple marks - Mariner, Marine, waterside, Spain and hints of tapas, seafood all in one go. Will be interesting to see how it fares…

Besiktas Make Napoli Cajuste Loan Offer
at 03:17:57

Arnie.. have you been there? Suspect not from your post. If not, suggest you go take a look. It’s a vibrant city. That said I don’t know why Jens would want to go play his football there in a not very high quality league. Anyway hopefully MA can still bring Jens back here. Won’t be cheap though. When you think how much we paid for Jaden, Jack C et al, and how effective Jens was for us, he has to be worth £20m. Besitkas offering 8.5 is never gonna work.
