Given the rumoured injuries I don’t believe we had a choice. It’s unfortunate but nobody could predict this. And MA is a smart operator so I’m sure he explained this to BMG. He’s not stupid.
I do find it strange we arranged two games in two days. That indicates we were viewing these more as practice run outs and it may never have been our intent to field full strength teams. Seems BMG may have had different expectations here …

We’d all like earlier deals but the window doesn’t close until Sep 1 (crazy it’s two weeks and 3 games into the season but it is what it is) and many deals will go to the wire as teams horse trade. Let’s just hope he lads can hold their own in those first two games without being played off the park. Then we’ll be fine. |

He’s been incredibly foolish but given the small bets and his lousy win rate, it’s especially sad for him and his family. I hope he’s learned his lesson and gets another job after the suspension is over.
Personally I’d be happier if football completely disassociated from the betting industry. It seems bizarre that clubs and the Authorities benefit from it but someone like Pullen loses his job over it. |
