| Forum Thread | The Love-In project is dead; long live the Money project at 02:51 22 May 2024
I’m happy for KM to win the award. Well deserved. But… also seems like the end of a love-in project and start of a new era in more ways that simply that of Town going up to the EPL. It was supposed to be a long hot Championship summer of celebration and love, but as Meatloaf said “I’d do anything for love: but I won’t do that”. Before us more mortals have even packed our bags for Majorca (or Phuket), or the kids finished their end of year exams, it’s all about the Colour of Money. I’m sure MA was going to dish out a mega pay award to KM and the players anyway. But now it feels to the uninitiated a bit like the Club has been blackmailed. (Assuming KM stays which isn’t yet certain). Next up if he does stay, we’re going to get more of these rumours every time a manager quits a half decent club Question: “If despite his contract, promises to MA and mega pay rise, Keiran is going to allow his head to be turned by each new vacancy, then just maybe, is it better that he goes sooner rather than later?”. Not now of course as a sudden departure of him and probably most of his team would massively dent our chances of survival. **Get that succession plan warmed up Mark!! ** |
| Forum Thread | It’s all about Keiran at 01:13 16 May 2024
I believe (hope) KM will stay another year or even more but until he clarifies that, it will be destabilise and damage the club’s progress. We need him to clarify asap before the window opens in order to settle everyone down and make it easier to sign the better new players we need - be they on loan or permanent. (Or to retain existing players be they ours or on loan). Worse, if he goes it will demoralise the whole club. I’d go so far as to say our EPL survival in year one hinges on him staying. Come on super KM. Forget ManU. A poison chalice for any manager esp an EPL novice. |

| Forum Reply | Realistically how many wins to finish second? at 13:57 18 Feb 2024
My prediction is that whoever finished 2nd will have 100+ points. If we want that to be us we need 11-12 wins and max one loss from remaining 14. So : One at time as I’m sure KMcK and the team understand very well.. to do that our defence needs to be rock solid. If we go into the Soton game on back of 9 wins it’s all to play for |
| Forum Reply | Realistically how many wins to finish second? at 04:59 18 Feb 2024
Incredible as it may seem, it’s possible four teams will get 100 points this season. I can’t quite believe that will actually happen but I suspect 99 points won’t secure auto promo this year. More likely 2nd place will need 101. Sound crazy? Soton and Leeds have been averaging 2.4 points per game since late ‘23. If they continue their form (entirely possible) they both get over 100. As will we if we can average 2.4-2.5 points from now to end of season. 2.5 would yield 35 points from 14 games and get us to 101. This would need a minimum of 11 more wins. Ideally 12. The only way to do is one game at a time. |
| Forum Reply | Sh1 t defending from the CB’s YET AGAIN at 05:04 11 Feb 2024
It’s amazing how many recent conceded goals have come thru our right defensive side. But how that translates to wanting Axel and Cam back in is a mystery. For starters Cam wasn’t match fit but even if he was Fridge wouldn’t have been dropped as he has been our best defender lately. I also credit him in part for NB’s goal. Fridge competed strongly to deny their defenders a head on the ball allowing it thru to Nathan. I do think BW would be a step up of his head and body are in the right place. |

Happy for Greg (who really like), as he deserved and needed 1st Team football which he’d not have been getting with us this season. So moving was the right thing but maybe should have been via a loan. After all there’s no guarantee we keep those ahead of him in LB/LWB/AMF positions if we fail to get promoted. Esp Brandon, Omari, Nathan or Leif. Greg could then have been a great recall. As it is we got maybe 100k which is sweet FA really. |
| Forum Reply | Trusty to Sheffield United…. at 01:34 4 Aug 2023
I think the pricey Simms and Trusty moves show that we’re approaching a stage in the club’s development where buying players who improve what we already have, and are already top Championship standard with clear EPL potential (NB or LD type deals), is going to cost us a lot more than the 1-1.5m we’ve been paying. Suspect GC20 will resist the £3-5m deals for a while longer then review in Jan if we’re there or thereabouts - which could mean we don’t get any “instant success” players in this summer. That said if we’ve learned one thing about MA, he’ll keep his cards close to his chest and surprise us |
| Forum Reply | Could Elkan Baggott at 06:16 31 Jul 2023
Whatever happens, sending him to another Gillingham or Cheltenham isn’t the answer. If KM wants to develop him here within the extended squad, that’s fine by me. If everyone concerned including Elkan thinks a loan is best then also fine. I just want to see him given every possible chance. We messed up with Flynn; Tristan, Jason, Teddy and more in our dark days. No more please. |
| Forum Reply | Trusty at 06:05 31 Jul 2023
Yep agree. It can all get very pricey.. but this also underlines the importance of continually developing younger players and trying to retain the community feel. Even if that only results in retaining each good player for one extra season, it can be huge. Since our ultimate owners are a pension fund; it wouldn’t surprise me if at some point they recoup their outlay (must be £100m now?) by selling a stake. They hold 90% so could easily flip 25-30% then free ride their initial investment and still exercise ultimate control thru GC20. Whether any other entity wants to be a £100m minority stakeholder is another matter. Personally I hope the Arizona fund guys stay in it for long term : rather that than MidEast; Russian, Chinese money or from bloodsuckers lie the Glazers. |
| Forum Reply | Martin Samuel's trolling of Ipswich Town fans has aged well ... any chance at 05:48 31 Jul 2023
What he wrote was correct at that snapshot in time… but he chose the absolute worst time to write it. Far from both Town and NUFC being permanently down and out, both were poised to be on the up. Almost immediately after the article, we brought in KMcK. Eddie Howe had already moved to St James. Since then both have shown they’re the real deal and both Ipswich and Newcastle have gone from strength to strength as they rebuilt from their respective depths. . If Martin Samuel want to write a sequel he would be well advised to describe how Ipswich and Newcastle demonstrate how poor owners and managers bring clubs down, but great owners and managers can lead them up. And as GC20 show, great ownership isn’t just about the money |
| Forum Reply | Trusty at 05:20 31 Jul 2023
If it’s true (?) it’s scary how much extra you have to pay for a player who is perceived to be a bit more EPL ready (eg Trusty, Simms) as opposed to still needing development (eg Nathan, Leif et al). And if Simms and Trusty are worth £5++ then how much would we have to pay for Omari if he has a successful season here. £15m? More? And higher costs don’t end with transfer fees. I read Leicester was spending 90% of income on salaries and the Thai owners just had to write off another £175m. I guess it would help to have a stadium that can sell 40,000 tickets every week but building that capacity wouldn’t come cheap either. And last time we redeveloped PR we got relegated! It’s everyone’s dream to get to EPL but it doesn’t come cheap. |
| Forum Reply | Could Elkan Baggott at 06:00 30 Jul 2023
I agree but the question is where and how does he beat improve to reach his potential (whatever that is). Some younger guys respond well to loans. Thinking Idris. Maybe Corrie. But these guys already moved far away from home as youths to join us. Others like CH and perhaps Elkan may develop better being here within the squad. Remember also it’s not just about the first XI or even the travelling squad with subs. We need 20+ fit outfield players every week for training and the advantage Elkan has is that he doesn’t count to the 25 squad limit. |
| Forum Reply | This Harry Clarke injury… at 05:49 30 Jul 2023
Can be bad but not always. I’ve done my Achilles twice since I was 50. (That said I’d describe myself as being in well above average condition for my age). The first time I felt good after about 4-weeks and went for light jog. BIG mistake and had to take off another 6 weeks. Next time I did it I rested 6-8 weeks before doing anything, and then restarted light jogging and it was fine. Trouble is for a pro to do no legwork for weeks is a nightmare. But not resting or treating it is worse. The PR team will find a way but he could easily be out until Christmas. Am also slightly concerned at Massimo’s injury. His style of play is going to aggravate anything that isn’t right esp now he’s over 30 so suspect he may get rested a bit longer if it hasn’t yet fully cleared up. |

Anyone fed up with TownTV already? I subscribed several days ago but have never yet been able to log into the App. The Browser let’s me into itfc.Co.uk but doesn’t recognise that I’m a subscriber to TownTV until I’ve tried a few times then it suddenly decides I am after all a subscriber and lets me in. It’s really poor to launch something in this state. And it’s not like they rushed it !! |

Frank is part of the spirit of Town and he’s been a huge fan for years If you don’t like his stuff, don’t watch it. But please don’t keep knocking another Town fan for trying to add a bit of colour. |
