Sure, but I didn't say they shouldn't be there. They were fine players that served the club well. I guess my point was that they are unlikely to live in Ipswich folklore in the same way that Morsy and Chaplin probably will. |

While you're not wrong, the fact is that our Hall of Fame contains players like Gavin Johnson, Jason De Vos and Frank Yallop. Not saying they weren't decent players, but by those standards Conor Chaplin absolutely deserves to be in there. As does Sam Morsy. |

Some good suggestions here. On your second para, Mark Clattenburg (now of Gladiators fame!) has been arguing on podcasts for referees to have the power to reverse decisions along the lines you suggest. If a team takes too long over a throw-in, it goes to the other team. Too long over a goal kick - award a corner (and vice versa). I'm not generally someone who favours too much tinkering around with the rules of the game, but I'm coming around to it because time wasting is now such a problem. Thinking about yesterday, 30,000 people paid good money to watch a game of professional football, and what they got instead (at least in the second half) was one long exercise in gamesmanship. That can't be healthy for the sport and for the next generation watching. |
 | Forum Reply | If Matusiwa picks up an injury/suspension.. at 22:00 29 Aug 2025
I've been saying this for some time. Despite the very welcome addition of Nunez, we're still a bit short in central midfield, and if injuries and suspensions start kicking in in December, we'll get overrun in games if we're not careful. Taylor isn't up to it for me, not even as fourth choice. Remember at the end of 2022 we went through a sticky patch that threatened to derail our automatic promotion campaign? That was due to running on empty in central midfield. For several games we were relying on Humphreys (who wasn't ready) and praying Morsy didn't get another booking. It all turned around when we got Luongo in, but let's not go through that again. |

Lovely stuff. Forever the Egyptian King. |

This is exactly how I'm hoping it all plays out, and hope we can get Taylor a decent move too. Not a bad player, just doesn't work for us. |

Ha, yes, I posted that before watching the video. He doesn't look desperately injured does he? Doesn't change my view that we need another CM and someone like James would get plenty of game time though. |

Getting some serious Taricco sh!thousery vibes from this guy. I like him already. |

If he's ready to go now, he'll get game time. Cajuste without a proper preseason and still getting up to speed. Nunez injured. Taylor once again failing to deliver very much. He would get plenty of game time, don't worry about that. |
 | Forum Reply | Who is our 1st choice number 10 now? at 10:44 29 Aug 2025
We'll potentially see Egeli across any of the front four - like Hutchinson but can also play up front. Nobody knows how much longer Burns will need, so McAteer and Ogbene to fight it out for the right wing spot. No more Clarke there now, hopefully. |

We need another central midfielder. Really hoping for James or...you know who... |

Sounds a bit like the Broadhead deal in reverse - decent money for them, good solid player for us, everyone wins. |

Can't believe I'm going to be watching Paul Furlong's son play for us - and he's pushing 30. Time flies. |

This is one of several things I don't understand about Jack Taylor. He is (in my opinion) a fairly average Championship midfielder, but the one thing he has in his locker is an incredible shot - yet he never shoots! You would have thought a game where the opposition are packing the defence would be tailor made for him to have a go, but no. |

Indeed. That's why it's frustrating. We should have been operating at those levels years ago. |

Yes, it's a bit frustrating seeing Dibling and Robinson coming through at Southampton, for example, whereas we don't have anyone who's anywhere near doing something similar. |

7/7! I'm not bad on the old FA Cup history. |
