 | News Comment | Nottingham Forest 1-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 17:11:41
One of the more one-sided exhibitions of refereeing I've watched recently, and the Forest players were schooling him the whole game. But the fact is we never really threatened apart from the chance Delap took off Chappers' foot. At least the other results went mostly our way apart from the late Palace equaliser. Must win Tuesday. |
 | News Comment | Murphy: Delap Obvious Successor to Kane at 13:28:23
It would be interesting to have some accurate information about the terms of his contract, and particularly the alleged buy-back clause. |
 | News Comment | McKenna: So Happy to Have Secured My Future Here at 14:59:04
Steve ITFC Sweden - Sorry if I came across as cynical, but the fact is that no manager or player will ever have the same emotional attachment to a club that a lifelong supporter has. Regarding Man Utd, as far as we know KM wasn't offered the job, so who can say apart from the man himself whether he would have taken it. |
 | News Comment | McKenna: So Happy to Have Secured My Future Here at 10:32:18
Some elegant spinning of the issues here, but given the the right circumstances he would have gone. I'm very glad he's staying, but there's no true loyalty or sentiment in football these days, if there ever was. It's just business and self interest. |
 | News Comment | McKenna: After the Seasons We've Had There Was Always Going to Be Speculation at 09:37:07
Plenty of warm words about the club and its future, but not one suggesting he is going to be part of it, or wants to be. Disappointing, but experience suggests Ashton will already be working on plan B, albeit likely that would be at the expense of other club. No sentiment in football any more, if there ever was. |
 | News Comment | McKenna Speculation Continues at 19:22:36
The last two seasons have been unbelievable, but they're now history and, as someone else has said, the memories are already being soured by this issue. We are now a well organised and funded club in the Premier League for next season at least. Sorry if I'm old school, but McKenna should either come out and commit to honouring his contract (never mind any laughable release clauses), or state openly that he will be accepting the best alternative offer from another club his representatives can negotiate. Any other stance is disrespectful to the club that gave him his first managerial opportunity and faces a difficult enough close season in preparing for the Prem without a possible wholesale management team change as well. |
 | News Comment | Ashton: Over the Next Few Weeks Portman Road is Going to Be a Building Site at 16:40:04
One bit of additional technology we could do without on the back of promotion to the EPL is the ridiculous "Spidercam". In my opinion, this is a major distraction for players and spectators in the ground which really adds nothing to the TV viewing experience because it is not a natural viewing angle. A classic example of something which shouldn't be done just because we can. Sadly, if Sky want it, no doubt we'll end up with it. |
 | News Comment | Manchester United Targeting Town Academy Schoolboy at 00:09:47
It is disappointing when good youngsters see a better future elsewhere, but I can't immediately recall anyone who has left as an academy player and really gone on to great things. Probably Gibbs at Norwich has made the most progress. Chirewa is on the fringe of the first team at Wolves. Ben Knight, said by some staff to be the most talented player we had ever had at 15-16 years old, is now 21 and on loan at Stockport in League 2, after only 6 appearances on loan for Crewe. |
 | News Comment | McKenna: Rotherham Are Competitive Every Week at 20:45:09
Older fans may remember Boxing Day 1974. Town played Luton at PR in the old Division 1. We were top, they were bottom. They won with a last minute Ron Futcher header at the north stand end, the only home game we lost all season. In the event the two points dropped (2 for a win then) would have won us the title on goal average ahead of Derby. The squad have had a tough week with a long journey thrown in but they need to be bang at it against the Millers. No-one is entitled to win but, If we have any pretensions to automatic promotion, nothing less than a convincing win will do. Fortunately I suspect McKenna is the last one to allow any complacency to creep in, given we've already had a warning from Maidstone. |
 | News Comment | Ipswich Town 2-1 Sunderland - Extended Highlights at 11:16:58
Having just watched this, I can't believe the no penalty decision near the end. Especially having seen the one Leicester were given earlier in the day, where the defender cleared the ball cleanly. I don't think the Sunderland defender (O' Nien?) got any of it. But I'd still rather do without VAR. |
 | News Comment | McKenna Tight-Lipped on Gallagher Link at 15:43:34
Interesting, but a "flat-batted" response would have been, "hell yes, we're havin' him!". KM's quite correct response was to "straight-bat" the question! |
 | News Comment | McKenna: A Few Niggles and Issues Ahead of Watford Trip at 20:15:36
Churchman's - Obviously the potential for "worldies" from Taylor is there, but I was thinking more about the extent to which he imposes himself in the middle of the field as M&M do. I just don't think I've seen that from him yet, though it may well come if and when he's a regular starter. |
 | News Comment | McKenna: A Few Niggles and Issues Ahead of Watford Trip at 19:22:18
Saxon - I agree with both your posts. If Morsey avoids a booking at Watford I would start Humphreys in place of him against Norwich to make sure he's available at least for Leeds, who are our biggest threat. I know it's the derby but on current form at home we should have enough without the skipper. I remain to be convinced about Taylor as a replacement for either Morsey or Luongo. |
 | News Comment | Sunderland and Leicester Matches on Sky at 18:12:13
Well, I suppose this run of reschedulings is good practice for the supporters in case we go up, because there'll be plenty of odd kick-off times in the Prem. |
 | News Comment | Jackson: Fulham Were a Level Above What We've Faced Before at 11:47:44
Agree most of Jackson's analysis, but we simply have to accept the consequences of playing a second string eleven, the reasons for which I fully understand. In particular, Walton looked rusty and I feel Hladky would have prevented both the first and certainly the third goals. Kayden himself was simply not sharp enough in front of goal on a night when chances were always going to be at a premium. Notwithstanding his goal against Wolves, Taylor has yet to really impose himself in midfield. The one big plus from the night was Baggott who looked hugely impressive in the time he had on the pitch. Let's hope we get the three points on Saturday to fully justify last night's selection. |
