| News Comment | Town Confirm Burns Signing at 18:39:07
In the words of another famous Mr Burns... Excellent! Good to see us getting business done early, hopefully the first of many. |
| News Comment | Jackson: I'm Feeling a Lot Better at 12:32:13
ThatMuhrenCross - clubs can ask for a postponement if they are really badly affected by Covid. One player out for two weeks is no worse than a minor injury, it's just bad luck that several more of our strikers are injured at the same time. |
| News Comment | Bennetts Hoping for Second Portman Road Appearance When Blues Host Accrington at 13:07:08
Bit off topic but... interesting looking at those teams from the U15s game in 2014, none of the Spurs team have really broken through yet and Bennetts has probably made the most impact - and now he's here! Compare that to the league appearances made by Downes, Woolfenden and Dozzell and it shows how harmful the big clubs policy of hoovering up talent can be for youngsters development. |
| News Comment | Charlton Game Postponed Due to International Calls at 17:11:49
Nothing we can do about it, but a shame as Charlton have had a turbulent summer and have only just been taken over. Would have been good to play them ASAP before they get their house in order like we did with Wigan. |
| News Comment | Taylor: Nolan's Been Superb at 12:31:48
More than played his part in a strong midfield performance on Sunday, and that crunching tackle in our own penalty area was a highlight of the match for me. Very little room for error and he got it spot on. Never quite understood the amount of negativity towards him sometimes, he was never any worse than a lot of players around him last season. Maybe Sunday showed what his best position/system is - he had options in front of him instead of being forced to recycle the ball. Think it was his drive into the box that ended up with Bish hitting the post as well. |
| News Comment | Salary Cap More in Doubt at 10:47:46
As others have said, it makes no sense to cap salaries at an arbitrary amount, it must be linked to turnover. Football clubs have already shown they can get very creative when it comes to accounting (Pride Park for £80M anyone?) and clubs will find ways to pay players without it counting towards the salary cap. In rugby union Saracens were doing this for years until they got caught, but not before they had won nearly everything there was to win, denying other clubs the chance for success. |
| News Comment | EFL Board Meeting Today Ahead of Votes at 11:26:26
What I hope happens - common sense prevails, the season is ended and the table decided on average PPG. The EFL uses the down time to address the broken financial model that it has allowed to develop, bringing in salary caps and "fit and proper" tests for owners that actually work. ITFC use the down time to work out how this season went so disastrously wrong and take decisive steps to make us challengers for whenever next season starts. What will happen - deadlock, confusion and self-interested arguments from all sides, with Darragh MacAnthony being particularly vocal. The EFL plods on with an astonishing lack of leadership and vision, allowing this farce to continue well past its stated deadline of 31st July. ITFC use the downtime to thrash out a new contract extension for PL, then re-sign Will Keane the day before the new season starts. |
| News Comment | Waghorn's Derby Move Confirmed at 10:44:01
Best of luck Waggy (except on the 21st) Probably the best signing we've made since Cresswell and Mick should get some credit for that. Looking forward to seeing what PH can do with the funds, exciting times at PR for the first time in years! |
