Stay away from the central train station. The area is iffy and a lot of the restaurants are tourist scam places run by sketchy characters. There's a Filipino restaurant called Mabuhay which is very good. |

I would just play both. We carry hardly any attacking threat as it is and can barely keep the ball in the oppositions half so what is there to lose going with two up top. |

To be honest aside from Delap I wouldn’t really be too worried about losing any of our PL signings. I don’t think we signed anyone who was a serious upgrade on who was already here and therefore I don’t think we’ll suffer too much if we lose any of them. I’d be far more concerned about losing Hirst given what he brings to the team and our longstanding inability to sign strikers. |

I shall enjoy watching them crash out against PSG and add yet another bottled season to their lengthy list of fallen short campaigns. Just a bus stop in Tottenham. |

Worst part of the Euros final was it meant this absolute fraud got a medal. Such a poor player with such an unwarranted ego. |

I’m sure he didn’t tell any of his crooked buddies beforehand either, just in case they fancied buying up some last minute low priced stocks. [Post edited 9 Apr 18:54]

To be honest, both transfer windows this season have been littered with really terrible deals. In L1 and the Championship I would have expected Ashton and the team to get the best deal no matter what. In the Premier League I think they’ve had their pants pulled down again and again and again. |

Phillips and Clarke they can have. Doubt either would make much difference to their PL survival chances though. Davis they spent almost all of last season disparaging as a Leeds reject. No idea why he’d want to go back there to play in front of those troglodytes again. He’s a Newcastle fan, he probably couldn’t give a sh1t about Leeds. |

Presumably its job is to get you to buy their products, not hate them. Part of the fallacy of any publicity is good publicity that marketers and political grifters cling to to justify their existence. |

It asked that when I got my ESTA for a trip to NY back in August but it’s an optional field. I have no idea why anyone would fill it out. Going back there in 2 weeks to Tennessee this time. Not remotely looking forward to it anymore but can’t get a refund so just going to go and get it over with. |

I’m sure it will be taken just as seriously as the many objections from residents and results of consultations are. In my case it’s a village in Cambridgeshire and isn’t a secret as it was reported in the press. But the GCP’s hegemony trumps all. |

Your mum’s development probably wouldn’t have lined the pockets of some developers. I’m in the process of trying to fight the council to stop them stripping the assets out of our village in order to prop up some developers. The deck is massively stacked against normal people and it’s sickening. |
 | Forum Reply | Would you find another promotion race exciting? at 22:48 17 Mar 2025
Not being of an age to have experienced anything to do with success - not born in 62, 78, or 81, and far too young in 2000 - the feeling of a successful promotion winning campaign last season was indescribable. This season I have, like many I suspect, absolutely hated it. As we’ve got steadily less and less competitive the novelty of being at the top table has worn off a bit and I’ve been shocked at just how dull PL football actually is. It’s not this festival of flair, skill and liquid football that the media tells itself it is, it’s actually a rather stale, slow affair where teams patiently wait and wait and wait to do something before exploiting an opening. It’s probably fine if you win every game, it’s extremely boring if you don’t. As a result I’m relishing being back in the Championship where the players are a bit less pathetic, the referees less reliant on a man in a hut near Wembley to do their job for them, and the football whilst of a ‘lower quality’ being a hell of a lot more interesting to watch. I want us to win every game, it’s a big part of why this season has been so crap and so I’ll want us to go on a relentless charge to promotion next season. Possibly it will be tempered a bit with the knowledge that we would wind up back here again, the delirium of last May is probably a once per lifetime feeling but I’d much rather enjoy the ride there than feel like this again only one division down. It’s a bit of a poisoned chalice, promotion. Knowing that the prize is a season in the world’s most overrated league but maybe we’ll do better next time. It’s holding on to that thought which inspires hope and hope makes football fun. |

Muric will stay unless we can pull the wool over some chump in the recruitment department at one of the three promoted sides. Walton is probably sick of playing second fiddle so suspect he will leave. |

Never been to Newcastle but when encountering their fans in London on the way to their last cup final, they were the friendliest bunch I’ve met so I’m delighted for them. Plus my cat is a Newcastle fan so I’m happy for him too. |

Especially as at £10m (?) he’s the only one, Delap aside, that would represent anything near good value for money. |
