I absolutely love him for the moments he gave us but I think that has contributed to a lot of blue tinted spectacles because he was bang average in between those moments of brilliance. He'd be nowhere near my list of priority signings |

They are big fees for average or unproven players. I think the more established players would easily go for over 100m I just think that a lot of them are tied in on long contracts and clubs don't need to sell. So the majority of the time, when a top player goes, it's because they've run their contract down or are a lot older. If someone like Musiala was available we'd probably be talking £200m I think. Lots of players went for over 100 last summer. |

United have just spend £52m on an 18 Yr old CB who has never played international football. West Ham have spent £40m on a 27 year old CB who has never played for England.
They seem crazy fees to me! |

I did say from that very limited viewing. I think he got caught out by 2 long balls over the top which was my main concern. But let's see how things progress, clearly he's meant to be a very good player. I just don't like going overboard on a new signing just because they're new. |

Or he has a brilliant season like Solanke, we value him at £60-£70m and they have a £40m buyback and they buy him to sell him on again. |

I think he has everything to be a success in this team and I remember thinking after he played at PR that he's the closest thing I've seen to Hirst in terms of attributes.
In my mind though, £15m sounds like a lot for his current body of work (maybe 5m more than I was expecting). I think that's based on the fact that we got Hirst at the price we did and he's been fantastic. I really am expecting big things from GH next season, I think if he stays fit he could be our standout player. If we had him for the entire season just gone, I think it's reasonable to say we would have had at least another 6 points on the board.
The thing with Delap is that if he's any good we'll lose him to City anyway. I guess we don't know if there is a set price or if they just have first option, but it feels almost like a loan. [Post edited 16 Jul 22:38]

We've been terrible this tournament but that comment is absolute ɓoʻĺĺoʻçķș. In the past 20 years we've failed to qualify for tournaments and been knocked out by Iceland. Southgate completely changed the culture and gave players an opportunity to perform without the weight of the shirt bringing them down. This tournament he's made a terrible decision not bringing a fit proper left footed left back and trying to shoehorn Foden and Bellingham. I think that he has taken us as far as he can, regardless of if we win the tournament. But the guy deserves SO much credit for what he has achieved. |

He's perfect for the way we play and the like for like replacement for Hirst that we need. However, he's no better than Hirst, and for that money, you would want a significant upgrade. £20m when we spent about 3 on Hirst is ridiculous. 8-10m it's worth getting it done, I would walk away at any higher tbh.
We definitely need 2 strikers 1 to complete or improve on Hirst. I genuinely expect big things from Hirst this season though, he's been so impressive. |
