A Scarf of Blue and White Bars
at 11:30 20 Nov 2021

Things were different in the 1970s. Glam Rock and Chopper bikes were cool, there were strikes and power cuts and only three channels on the television.
We'll Win Again Some Sunny Day
at 09:49 15 Dec 2018

2018 has been a terrible year to be an Ipswich Town supporter.
Amazingly, we have only one twice at home this year, against Leeds in January and Barnsley in April.
Six Was the Best
at 09:52 22 Sep 2018

When Kevin Beattie's book, The Beat, was published in 1998 there were a few informal signing sessions arranged. As I was a schoolboy in the 70s, Kevin was a footballing hero of mine, so I thought I would brave the crowds and get in the queue for his autograph at Brannigan's in Ipswich. My Mum was also a big fan, so we decided to get there early and wait in line.
New Man, New Hope
at 13:53 30 Jun 2018

As an occasional poet of the third rate variety, I have been scratching around for a few weeks trying to think of a rhyme or song to fit our new manager. Paul Hurst is hardly a name to get the creative juices overflowing, which is due to its no-nonsense shortage of syllables rather than his achievements in the beautiful game.
Missing Mick
at 08:37 21 Apr 2018

Just like Jonas Knudsen I find myself pining for the good old days of the Mick McCarthy era. This current wave of optimism sweeping over the club must surely end soon and come crashing down around us. One day, maybe sooner maybe later, you will also feel some nostalgia for those halcyon days under McCarthy. With these thoughts in mind, here is a tribute to the great man and his legacy:
Five Points Off the Play-Offs and Mick Keeps Rolling Along
at 21:07 12 Dec 2017

If Mick had gone for the win on Teesside and picked up another three points, I suspect that Marcus Evans would have been instructing his team of overworked lawyers to draw up a new contract for the incumbent manager.
Mick's Confusion
at 10:39 15 Apr 2017

Most Town fans who have seen the EFL Team of the Year will be scratching their heads wondering how the brilliant Bart was overlooked, but spare a thought for Mick McCarthy who probably had someone else in mind for the top honour.
Ode From Mick
at 19:14 4 Apr 2017

Mick McCarthy has been on the receiving end of a lot of criticism lately, some of it justified, some less so. I was wondering what he thinks of his current situation and thought it might lighten the mood a little to put those ruminations into verse.
Why Don't You?
at 13:47 29 Jan 2017

People of a certain vintage will recall a TV show in the 1970s titled Why Don’t You Turn Off Your Television Set and Go and Do Something Less Boring Instead?.
12 Days of Christmas
at 11:55 3 Dec 2016

To celebrate the festive season, here is a version of a familiar Christmas song with lyrics that could be sung by Marcus Evans.
The Times They Are a-Changin'
at 12:50 15 Oct 2016

There was a time, not so very long ago, when an international break was regarded as an unwelcome interruption to the entertainment being served up at Portman Road.
The Fruits of Stability
at 21:44 15 Sep 2016

Another busy midweek of Championship football has gone by and once more we start to look forward to Saturday with a mixture of hope and trepidation in one of the most ‘bonkers’ leagues in the world.
Time for Mexit?
at 12:16 21 May 2016

The dust has started to settle on our most disappointing season of Championship football.
Mick's Favourites
at 11:28 30 Dec 2015

Congratulations to Mick and the team for equalling Sir Bobby's 1976 record. Let's hope they can go one better at Burnley.
Silver Lining
at 10:39 13 Sep 2015

Sometimes one has to look long and hard for the silver lining and the bluebirds in the sky.
View From the Top
at 08:56 23 Aug 2015

What a great week to be a Town fan! Nobody ever handed out prizes in August, but it is exhilarating to be top of the pile with 10 points, 10 goals and number 10 signed up on a long-term deal.
Looking Forward
at 10:24 2 Aug 2015

Looking forward to the new season? Me too. A couple of weeks ago one hot-footed it down to Portman Road to pick up the Barcelona-esque Town away shirt with a spring in the step. One fully expected to be the sole patron but there was a throng of happy faces weaving in and out of the expansive range of new kit.
