That second half was a shocker wasn't it?
at 13:30 6 Apr 2025

We need to take some control back in the middle, I would have subbed morsy for Phillips for freshness and made my attacking subs earlier too. Even when we went behind go for the game your already loosing and a win yesterday would have been the only thing that offered any hope.

Every team knows how to play against us because shape and tactics do not change, double up on delap and the wing backs and you have pretty much stopped our threat. McKenna is still the man, but he has been naive this season and has lost his nerve with subs what to stem the tide too much rather than try something positive.

It’s just such a shame because we are better than what we have displayed this season

Broady

As much as i like Broady and the memories he has provided so far, it has to be said he isnt the most consistent.

He has moments of brilliance that much is clear but those moments dont happen all that often and he has a lot of games where he goes missing, thats not to say he isnt a good player, i think he is and has offered a lot but he has fallen down the pecking order, some of that is injury related too.

If we can get a decent sum and that helps with getting another good player in then i am not against it at all. Equally if he does stay and starts playing i will be right behind him like the rest of the team.

The margins are so tight now we are in the prem that we cant afford too much sentiment for players, it can be a shame but sometimes these changes can be needed.

Run Towards Adversity, In McKenna We Trust - reduce errors increase performance
at 15:14 21 Oct 2024

The Everton game was by far one of the worst home performances in recent seasons, we just didnt turn up for whatever reason. Part of this is loosing some one like Axel who has worked himself into a really important player spot, he manages that rb role really well and Johnson seems to struggle with it, and O'shea didnt inspire as a fill in.

I dont like knocking players really, but it has to be said they can all perform miles better than they have in the last two games and its a real shame. We are in this league on merit, we have earned it and its been great getting here, it feels like now we are wasting it. I get the skill gap is quite big between the champ and the prem and there is going to be an adjustment period, and we have also signed 12 new players, but where has the fight been recently?

In the Everton game alone i witnessed Omari and Phillips get the ball taken away from them only for them to slump there shoulders, sigh and plod back towards the ball, they should be on their bike chasing after it, Delap does even from the front, which is why he has shown already what a good player we have. He does not care about respecting a prem player, he wants that ball and he wants to get to the goal for a chance, more players need to be like him.

I dont mind a mistake, i dont even mind loosing, as long as the fight and the performance is there, the will and desire to win, i just havent seen that last two games. We spent more time passing side ways between the back line than we ever did getting it forward, Everton just were not going to be drawn out for the ball, and why would they, 2-0 up they dont have to especially as they have already squandered a 2 goal lead more than once this season. I want to see us quick passing and getting forward quickly as we can and have done in the past, Everton did, when they got the ball from our corner they would be at the other end near or in our box in a matter of seconds.

I have also seen a lot about Burns, i appreciate he, along with the rest, was not very good against Everton, there is also a narrative he isnt cut out for the prem, but i dont think thats entirely fair. The stats are 22 touches and less passes the entire game, or for as long as he was on the pitch, but bloody hell the amount of times i saw him in acres of space shouting for the ball but no one getting it to him, im not sure what more he could do. The times he had the ball he didnt really achieve much, thats fair, but the times Omari had it and waited to long to finally give it to him, or a cross field pass when he is in space didnt ever happen, and if he doesnt get the ball he cant do much else other than be available, which he was.....a lot!

Many have said it already, i honestly think we are not playing some players in their best position, or at least a position they look like they can make something happen. Case in point i think Omari, like others, is far better out on the right, i would leave clarke on left as he is tricky, and play smzodics as the 10 behind Delap. Not saying this would solve all of our issues but i do think we have possibly signed too many players and we are now trying to fit people in to spots that dont fully suit.

None of us are Mckenna and he will have vastly more detail, experience, know how etc than all of us, but i think its clear the way we are setting up at the minute isnt working. All these stupid international breaks are not helping of course, but we cant keep trying the same things and expecting different results.

I am concerned if i am being honest after Saturday, i dont think we have any right to expect a win against anyone in this league, but having said that we are good enough to beat Everton, especially at home, and to see such a poor showing is disappointing.

I find it funny the amount of time they spend saying itfc fans cant stop talking about them, whilst having a number of threads, such as the thread listed here, specifically talking about us.

Its incredible the over inflated view they have of themselves and their players, all the while having the opinion that last seasons championship was poor, ignoring the fact of the amount of points required to get promoted battling teams like leeds, leicester and southampton who have all been in the prem in recent years and have very good players. I have seen on their posts one comment on the fact they were able to make the playoffs as a reason to the season being poor because of their injuries etc, so which is it, are you as good as you say you are, or are you really that poor that an entire season can be labelled as below par because you made the playoffs?

For me personally they cant handle the fact that we got promoted and have owners and staff that are getting results and putting us in the spotlight in all the right ways. A manager who excels at getting the best from the squad and making a name for himself. No one knows how we are going to do in the prem, all we have to go on is the good work that has led us to this point, and therefore gives us confidence that we have a chance of staying up and doing even better than that, maybe.
