Rene Maric who coached him at Dortmund said 'He is like Zidane in small spaces and Gerrard in big spaces'. Thought that was a good summary.

Thought he was great last night. Receives the ball really well, can pick a pass and constant threat in the box. Would be interesting to see where he would fit in for us though as he was occupying the same areas as Chaplin does.

Aside from Barnsley I loved the 2nd half of the Port Vale game. Probably the only game in this run that's actually felt tense. The relief of the pen going in was brilliant.

Think part of the reason he doesn't always get praise is because he makes everything look so easy. Never needs a last ditch recovery tackle because his positioning and reading of the game is so good.

I don't mean to compare us to the best team in the world but it did remind me of the way Man City sustain attacks in this way. Even when we didn't create too many clear chances in the first half it was so much better than in previous games against similar opposition.
