Interesting view on Martin from Loft for Words
at 12:51 3 Apr 2024

"Martin is, undoubtedly now, a very decent manager to have if you want to build your team and club in a progressive, modern manner. But, isn’t it interesting (shut up, it is), that despite managing a parachute payment club with myriad financial advantages over the rest of us, a squad we could only dream of these days, goalscorers all over the park, it is, as it always has done before, coming unstuck for Martin at the business end of the season. He would rather stick to his ideal and refuse to shake hands with Millwall and Middlesbrough because they dared to equalise in the last minute playing another way, he would rather lose 3-2 at Ipswich and do pissy post-match interviews about who deserved and didn’t deserve to win and who scored the more aesthetically pleasing goal, than just suck up 20 minutes of backs-to-the-wall grubbiness. It’ll be interesting to see how that plays out over the next two months"

Players Lounge
at 10:36 13 Feb 2024

Back in the eighties I got an invite to see QPR v Liverpool at Loftus Road and after the game we went to the players lounge to meet the two sides. We also had our pick of the food that was typical of its time.

Do players from both sides still meet up post match these days? Are supporters still allowed in?

I am sure that aren't pilling into the beer and sausage rolls but wondered if this get together still happens in the modern game.

From the BBC Sport Website

Southampton manager Russell Martin told BBC Radio Solent:

"We had the biggest chance of the game with Shea and were punished for a mistake, not much in it.

"They've come and got the goal and then defended really well. If Shea scores it's a different game.

He seems to have forgotten the disallowed goal and the numerous other chances we had

Any thoughts?
After two games in this division they look woeful. Both teams today suffered from dodgy decisions, assume that is how it will be on L1

Ipswich promotion v Engand cricket semi final win
at 08:05 12 Jul 2019

On the BBC sports news this morning they showed an interview with a cricket supporter who said that yesterday's victory was a better feeling than when he saw Ipswich promoted to the Premier League.

Now I have been lucky enough to see some great England cricket victories over Australia both home and away but they will never compare to that day at Wembley

Today's match
at 18:41 26 Dec 2018

Very difficult to take any positives from our performance, we spent most of the second half passing the ball around with no one wanting to drive into the box.

Another shocking ref/linesman performance with decisions not given for both sides. I still do not understand why linesman are employed as the ref always makes the final decision.

Strangest part of the second half was watching a number of home supporters throwing random punches at each other in their Family Enclosure.

This will not be a performance that gives hope for our survival.

So...that weren't great!
at 21:23 20 Oct 2018

Todays first half we looked like a team that had never met each other. All the post joy after Swansea didnt eminate onto the pitch today.
Rangers were efficient and hard working with a big emphasis on set plays as opposed toTown who wasted free kicks and generally huffed and puffed without ever seriously encouraging the away keeper to break into a sweat.
I really thought we would kick on from Swansea but tonight I am really worried about where our club are heading.

Sat in a pub in Rickmansworth watching that sh*t..the locals were either sharing the pain or more likely laughing at that incompotence.
We played Lincoln not Real Madrid and yet we did fck all.If Mick sent out his strongest side then we gave no hooe.
