If either Stoke or Brum offer anywhere near £1.6million
at 15:52 10 Aug 2020

Unfortunately if the player wants to move on and earn a lot more than he can do here, there is little Town can do.

As you say, he will no longer get an improved contract here, so best all round we sell and get as much as we can for him.

We COULD refuse to sell, but that would not benefit anyone and an unhappy player would affect the whole squad.

Get rid.

Trouble is there is soooooooooooo much competition these days, than back in the day.

Clubs will have full time scouts, but also have loads of others who attend matches and "keep an eye out" who are paid on an ad-hoc basis, or IF they find anyone that a club signs.

Certainly within the UK, if there is someone out there at any age that is half decent, everyone team in the land will know about them.

So yes, the value is overseas, but could we really afford scouts watching every league in Europe? Or even part-timers?

I say invest in the academy and we produce our own!

Stephen Ward training with us

What do you have against Ward?

We are in L1, not the Prem.

Very tidy player who played almost half his sides games in a higher division last season.

So, if we don't land Garbutt, Keogh or Graham................
at 09:31 10 Aug 2020

We'll get Garbutt.

Keogh has already joined MK.

Graham will stay oop North.

We need to trim the squad BIG TIME before worrying about incomings anyway.

Well he isn't good enough for championship, so he doesn't have much choice!

I assume you don't really understand the salary cap rules then?

Still able to bring players in on £3k-£4k if we wanted and still be within budget.

Read it again and pay special to the bit about players already under contract.

Sunderland mate saying Garbutt done.
at 11:37 6 Aug 2020

Wrong.

He is NOT a left back.

Oxford, like us, tried him there and he can't defend.

He is a decent left midfielder, but we don't really play with left midfielders as such.

He ain't a wing back, he isn't a winger and he isn't a left sided attacking three player.

So not sure where he'd fit in really.

Why start the season?
at 10:20 5 Aug 2020

But when it is possible to do so, why not do it?

As others have said, its better than nothing and plenty of people follow Ipswich and get pleasure from doing so (which is quite hard to believe at the moment!) without attending matches.

Re: the West End show thing, thats an odd comparison!!

Not seen anything either, other than mesage boards/rumour sites/Twitters, so quite possibly just idol gossip.

Think he is on holiday anyway, so unlikely to be happening anytime soon.

(and this isn't a Sitters-stylee blub btw)

I can only assume its for the simple reason we didn't go for him?

Unless location played a part?

They are more skint than us, so can't be a wages thing.

Difference between you and I "having a laugh" and someone fortunate enough to be in his position having a laugh.

THATS the bit the simpletons on here seem to be missing!
