No trains from Bury, mate, so you are lucky! Car parking will be a nightmare.

Whereas Johnson was a brexiter because it could get him into No 10, they are both hard brexiters who are true believers. either of them as PM and things could get even worse.

Hopefully not a plot spoiler but the first murder victim was my son's girlfriend's mother's cousin.

DNA Tests Kits - anyone done one at all?
at 11:01 19 Jun 2022

Yeah. I got an Ancestry DNA test as a birthday present a few years ago because my wife knew I had been researching my family tree which indicated pretty much pure bred East Anglian (N Essex, Suffolk and S Norfolk) although it is likely my paternal male line came originally from Germany (Hanover/Bremen areas) about 350-400 years ago.

I was interested in whether I had any Viking blood, seeing as Eastern England was part of the Danelaw - and I do (Sweden/Norway) from my dad's side, which will likely come from his mother's family who I have traced back to a Norman knight in the early 11th centruy (and Norman's were Vikings who settled in France: Norman = Norsemen).

They do tell you what you inherited from each parent, so I was surprised to find out I had 9% Scottish blood from my mother. Weird, I have traced her family lines back to the 1750s and they never moved out of N Essex (Great Tey, Earls Colne, Witham, Coggeshall). So that's my next research project.

Well worth doing an d fascinating, esepcially if you are into genealogy.

Studying at Loughborough ticks many boxes for me. Thoroughly enjoyed my 3 years there.

Latest ‘defence’ of Johnson by a local MP
at 14:29 26 May 2022

My daughter was a sister on a COVID ward from March 2020 to May 2021. She caught COVID due to inadequate PPE. She worked long shifts and extra days. She was knackered after every shift and emotionally drained. When she got home she was too tired to cook - fortunately local companies donated food to the hopsital so the staff could eat OK.

There were no parties, no socialising. Any drinking was done at home if she or her OH (also working in the NHS) had the energy. We were seriously concerned for both her mental and physical health and it certainly did take its toll. She is still recovering but now works in Oncology (slightly less stressful!)

These politicians who seem to think we are all as bad as they are totally disgust me.

Been quite a few around St Johns Church in Bury for most of the past week. Often see them swooping up and down whilst out with the dog of an evening.

KD was at the event at Bury Town on Monday with John Wark & Terry Butcher, showing support to them but not answering any questions. But TB said it would all come out in good time.

Warning - Look at me post - I am drinking cappuccino in Floriana
at 11:43 30 Mar 2022

I was in Malta for business in 2003, doing some training as part of Malta's EU accession. My host took me on a detour on the way back to the airport to see Floriana's ground - we were on a road above it on what passes for a hill on Malta - because he knew I was a massive Town fan. Maltese people are very nice!

First ever away game
at 10:26 24 Mar 2022

Mine was January 1973, FA Cup 3rd round at Chelmsford City 3-1 win. All got a bit tasty after the game at the station, but many Chelmsford fans in those days were nutters. Got a free ticket as my best mate at school helped out on a milk round in Coggeshall, where he lived, said milkman being Vic Gomersall, the Chelmsford captain. My mate had to swear the ticket was not going to an Ipswich fan!

The last sighting of him was just up the road from where I live. The police searched our shed. I knew it was nothing to do with me as I was in Cardiff all weekend. Very odd, but his behaviour was at times somewhat risky in my eyes and I would wager that he had, like so many others, a bit of a drink issue. Not that I have room to talk.

Station Hotel Ipswich

Ah, the good old Welly. Used to drink there when I worked in Waterloo in the 80s. A colleague once went in and ordered 7 pints and paid for 6. When challenged by the barman he poured the beer from one glass into the others getting 6 full pints and one empty glass. "I paid for 6 because you only served me 6" is the sanitised version of the reply. I witnessed it and it was hilarious - the look on the barman's face was a picture.

I remember him from the 80s. Went to Man City later - a City supporting mate dragged me to a Div2 game at Walsall once. Nigel started left midfield but played the last hour in goal, and was pretty decent.
