| News Comment | Woolfenden: We're Comfortable Playing Out From the Back at 13:35:07
We will score so many more goals than we concede as a direct result of this style of play. We will all remember the time we mess it up because there will be too many to remember where we score (like Broadhead on Tuesday). Plus, we have not been blessed with a passing style for god knows how many years so it's going to take time for people to adjust. What's it to be.. this style or hit it up to the big man? (Yes there are styles in between but) I know which one I would rather. |
| News Comment | Former Blue Downes Close to Palace Move at 23:06:18
Blimey, a lot of sour grapes in the comments. Downes was never going to be a world beater but he was too good for league one. Maybe he downed his tools, but he knew he was better as shown by his great season in the championship. He wore his heart in his sleeve, so it would have been difficult to keep those levels when his heart isn't in it. Bad attitude? I don't think so. Ambitious? Yes, however he could have handled it better. What 21 year olds don't make mistakes though? It is also not Cooks fault, we would have got 10 million for him if we weren't in league one!! |
| News Comment | First-Teamers Set to Start Pre-Season Training With U23s at 14:52:54
Accidentally upvoted a post being negative towards TWTD. I trust Phil to post news stories that have some validity. The amount of stuff that goes on on Twitter and isn't reported suggests there is something in this. I do not understand why people are shocked by this, it's not news. We knew the academy boys had been told to move on if they can. While we are a sentimental bunch, who want our own to do well, clearly Cook isn't. I am delighted. Marcus led us down a dark alley, where our best staff decided to leave as they saw the road the club was going down. The players have not shown any sort of fight or desire to get out of this league and it's about we had a reset. We are in the worst position most Ipswich fans have witnessed and yet we still want to keep the players who have led us here, in the hope they become good. I am willing to fully trust Cook to get us out of this mess. He was a proven record, and usually his record involves complete overhauls. A manager prefers people he trusts, shock!! You don't get many 3 year deals at this level, it's usually 1 with a few 2s. It's normal for clubs at this level to go through overhauls. We finally have something to look forward to with the new owners and a footballing CEO. Let's be positive. It's no surprise this doesn't come naturally considering the dross we have had to put up with but let's try! |
| News Comment | Town to Join Football Social Media Boycott at 17:01:54
Absolutely delighted Town are joining in. I know it's a league and club campaign, but ill TWTD be following suit, out of curiosity? I would hope others, such as EADT, follow if TWTD are doing so. |
| News Comment | Knudsen: I Want to Talk About a New Contract But First Move Must Come From Owner at 15:47:14
ArnieM... I think he was right, he's allowed to have an opinion. I didn't like how we treated Mick, it was embarrassing even if it was a minority. That should have no standing on anyones opinion of him. He's been a good player for us and was playing at the World Cup this summer, that must say something about his ability. |
| News Comment | Town Closing in on First Signing at 13:12:48
Ricky Lambert, Jamie Vardy, even Gareth McAuley didn't play professionally until 24. Good luck to him, hopefully another success story on the way! |
| News Comment | Foley and Gerken Fit, McGoldrick Making Progress, But Bishop Could Miss Whole Season at 17:26:30
Just to add to Arnie's very good answer, Bishop has had hamstring tendon issues I believe, as Mick stated a while back, which is much more concerning than a hamstring strain or pull. The recovery time and treatment is longer due to the deeper lying cause of the injury and any long term issues could be career threatening, hence the caution taken with a 19 year old. |
| News Comment | Youngster Ford Set to Join West Ham at 17:01:45
I have no idea what this lad is like as a player if I'm honest but we only have to look at examples like Alabi who came in after Stoke released him and he wasn't up to the task. Teams take punts on players all the time, sometimes it works, sometime it doesn't. Good luck to the lad, I hope he does end up having a good career but no need for a meltdown against the club really. |
| News Comment | Norwegian Club Targeting Parr at 12:08:45
Parr has not been the same player since he got injured at Portman Road playing for Palace. He was a top class fullback before then, but for whatever reason it's gone down hill for him. No ones fault, it just happens sometimes! Mick prefers Knudsen so I'm happy to go with that. |
| News Comment | McCarthy: Emmanuel Could Make Debut at Brentford at 16:17:19
I don't really understand the issue everyone has with right back. Personally, I would love to see Chambers and Berra at centre back together, however Mick prefers to use all three and for that reason I can't argue. We did get into the playoffs with Chambers at right back and now we have introduced much more attacking wingers I honestly don't see a problem with having Chambers at right back. |
| News Comment | McCarthy: No Penalty If Tabby Was Still On at 09:25:07
I really like Tabb as a player, he's positive, creative and can run with the ball. That said however, I just don't see how Mick thinks he's a left sided midfielder, he hardly ever crosses or does not get to the byline. It's the only thing I can fault Mick on because at the end of the day he's been a success, and clearly knows what he is doing. |
| News Comment | McCarthy Confirms Player Exits at 18:11:55
Remember Hyam was told he could leave, yet look at him now. Still hope for JET in my opinion. Until he has gone he still has a chance! |
