What’s wrong with Wes?
at 17:24 18 Sep 2022

I love Wes and towards the end of the season he was unplayable but there were many games early on in the season where he contributed very little. He’s a huge asset and should be the first name on the team sheet because of what he can bring but he will have quiet games. On his day, there cannot be a better winger/wingback in this league. His pace (along with the ability to control the ball) is something we have craved for years.

That is madness... The Holland one could be forgiven but the Wright one is just ludicrous! Would love to know how that got through!?

Here we are…!

So many fans have been asking for bespoke and unique kits, the club have delivered. Even if I didn’t like them I would be delighted that the club have gone in this direction. Credit to Umbro for going with it.

I love the home shirt, I think it’s a great shirt. Retro is in, it’s a nod to a previous promoting and I think this will really sell. Away kit is good, it’s bespoke and is different. I like it for that reason!

I wish that were true, I really hope he comes. I’m pretty sure it’s Evans vs Doncaster!

Ben Knight on loan

I really think half the crowd on a match day would have forgotten who he was.. I also think people were more annoyed that Evans (and whoever his puppet was at the time) did not move heaven and earth to keep him, rather than being annoyed at a 16 year old kid who moved from us to one of the best academies in the world.

Always had a soft spot for him, I really wanted him to make it here. He managed to stick around the lower leagues and is apparently enjoying himself at Stowmarket! Clearly loves the game!

My brother-in-law is a season ticket holder at QPR and he is gutted to lose him. Not the most technical but an absolute workhorse who makes others around him look better. He will not shy away from a battle and breaks up play, reading the game really well.

Why is it opposition supporters are always wrong about incoming players?
at 12:33 3 Jun 2022

They are only wrong when it's negative... which I believe is the correct way to deal with it. You can see that everyone is happy to listen to the praise of Ball and lapping it up! It's human nature, we defend our own. We want to be successful and believe these new players will bring us success.

We should be supporting them from the get-go and giving each new player a clean slate, if they prove the previous fans right, so be it but we should all be hoping they prove them wrong! In order to do that we need to support them from the off and make it as likely as possible for them to be a success!

I guess you could argue that our direct corners come to nothing, so why not try short! We notice when short corners don't pull off because they happen less often or the ball doesn't get into the box.. but how many corners have hit the first man this season!?

Either way, we have been rubbish at corners!

Be interesting to see how it plays out with Ndaba/Baggott
at 19:02 1 May 2022

I do hope Ndaba has a chance to prove himself next season, I have not seen him play for Salford but by all accounts, it has been a very successful loan spell. He may not be a wing-back but is clearly comfortable on the ball if he is playing LB as well as CB. I'm fairly confident he also played CM early in the season too? It does appear that we will have a very decent defence next season, that will be able to manage if there is an injury here and there.

He is two or three years older than Baggott too, and so if Baggott can have a productive loan spell, that will look very promising for his career.

Where's Brenner? (n/t)

I agree, I think the shouting and over-excitement would seem less obvious with better audio quality (whether that's the equipment, acoustics or being slightly removed from the microphone; I'm no expert).

I think it's great to have a commentator designed for watching the game live, as well as giving an opportunity for up-and-coming commentators. Insights from players are always great, allows fans to feel more involved and closer to the club, IMO.

Wigan Game + final two

That disconnect is a real issue, and Morsy has shown he is capable of driving us forward so that is definitely something to consider. I do feel like this has been a problem forever, how often have we seen our strikers so isolated up top?

I do too, just wonder if he will next season. We either need to find a Burn equivalent on the left or go to a 4 at the back! I just don't see how we could get promoted being so predictable!

I agree with the academy, and would love nothing more than to see us thriving with talented young players in the squad. We need to be careful though. We thought we would have a triumphant midfield trio in Downes, Dozzell and Nydam (plus perhaps Bishop). It was too much expectation for them, and too many hopes were pinned on them. I do hope that they get their chance and I do believe McKenna will see value in the youngster when we are playing well and have an identity. They need to be able to fit into a working system, rather than be expected to change our identity!

I wonder if we should go to a back 4.

Walton
JD Wolf Baggot Thompson/Penny
Morsy El Miz
Burns Aluko Celina
Simpson

The space between the midfield and attackers today was crazy. It looked like the pitch was twice as big as it should be at times. I think having Aluko in front of the two would provide that link. It would also make us less one dimensional with Burns being our only outlet.

I would sign Norwood up, but we know what he's going to offer. I know that is not going to be a universally popular call. Bonne , unfortunately appears to be out of sorts and not worth going for. If we can shift Pigott, that would be great too. I think he needs a fresh start for a team who isn't going for promotion. Give Simpson a go, after Wigan.

I would be surprised to see McKenna go for it though...

So what do we expect today, folks?
at 10:41 11 Dec 2021

We have the players to give Wigan a good game, but we have yet to establish a team. I find it incredible we have yet to gel in December. I think this is really where we can see the failings of Cook and his team. The free flowing football this squad is capable of should be at full tilt now.

McGreal has a job on his hands tied really, I wish I could be optimistic about today, but I’m finding it very difficult!

I guess some of it might also depend if the supporters support, or turn on them after a few mistakes. They need to show more effort than they did on Tuesday but the fans can have a big impact!

Norwood appears to have travelled with the squad, posting pictures from a hotel in Mancheste. Certainly excited by the prospect of seeing him play again, despite the off-field stuff. He may miss the odd one-on-ones but would not have missed some of the sitters that have been squandered recently!

Town fan(s) at Charlton tonight - disgrace
at 23:53 7 Dec 2021

I do believe the London games bring out the worst of our ‘fans’. I may be wrong but I often feel the behaviour of our fans is significantly worse in London. It’s embarrassing to witness, it’s shameful and it makes me feel like I don’t want to go to away games…

Booing mid-game achieves absolutely nothing.
at 22:17 7 Dec 2021

Never really posted before but sometimes have a read of the this forum.

I have to vent this frustration!

I really hope I was just sat in a middle of a minority who were booing, I cannot stand it. While we were terrible, slow and second best to every ball, it does nothing to support the team. All it does is bring them down further, when they looked shot of confidence.

As for the lot at the front at end, I have no words.

Edited as I pressed add thread too early.

Garner
at 16:12 16 Aug 2017

About time we had a player like that, ever so frustrating to watch other teams with players like Garner. I thought by Bart's reaction, they were throwing things at him as he was signalling to the ref. I thought he had every right to waste time and gesture after that!
