I wasn't happy with this news, but like the Woolfy situation I understand it from the player's point of view. They both want to play regularly in the prime of their careers after proving themselves and more at this level. They didn't look out of place in a very tough Premier League to me, albeit we struggled as a team. I just hope the new signings are improvements. I worry we're replacing too many players at once (remember Paul Cook's demolition squad anyone?) and ripping the heart out of a very tight knit squad. I trust in McKenna but this really is gonna be a challenge for him this season.
Nooooo! I'm having real trouble understanding some of our transfer decisions. Paying big money for some players (not all) that don't appear to be an improvement on trusted players that haven't let us down.
We had a point blank penalty given against us away at Sunderland in 2020 which won them the game in the 83rd minute. I thought that was a ridiculous penalty at the time, but that's how it goes. You win some, you lose some.
Timmy H - we lost one league game where he featured. A small sample set I know, but he was in the team when we were holding our own against established PL teams. The seasoned PL fans I know all commented on him being very good for Luton in their 1 season in the PL. Player of the year for Eire too. Think you're underestimating him.
Thank you Mass. Fantastic player in the 2 promotion seasons. I remember him from his original loan and thought he was a great player then in what was a poor team at the time.
Really sad to hear this. Thought he was a standout player a few seasons ago when the youth team had a great run in the Cup. I saw he had lots of problems with injuries since then. I hope he gets a new club and builds his career. Good luck Edwin!
Intrigued by KMc's comment I looked it up. On 1st half scores we'd be 15th in the table, 6 points clear of West Ham in 18th spot. On 2nd half scores, we'd be bottom, 9 points adrift. Suggests our fitness, in game management and general Premier League nous is lacking. Not that surprising given the club's trajectory in the last 3 seasons.
Finger in the air prediction. Russell Martin to Leicester, Danny Rohl to Southampton. Leeds, Burnley & Sheff Utd to go up. The sides missing out on promotion to stick with their managers.
Not a walk in the park, but fancy our chances. Hope we have some realistic midfield targets lined up to replace Cajuste, Phillips and Luongo. Hopefully Humphreys can make the step up to Championship level too.
This from the BBC Sport website (Wolves feed) earlier today:
"Cunha was suspended for two games in January after clashing with a member of Ipswich's security and grabbing his glasses from his face following the visitors' 2-1 win at Molineux in December.
That is not expected to be a mitigating factor in any further ban if the Brazil international is charged."
So looks like they'll judge this incident just on its own.
Rock solid defender, did a great job helping us get out of League One. Contrast him and Burgess coming from Accrington Stanley with the Jon Nolan & Toto Nsiala transfers from Shrewsbury (on a relatively big fee at the time). Shows how the club has been transformed in a short space of time. Good luck Janoi, great signing for Chesterfield.
