A Scarf of Blue and White Bars

I was there with my mate the late Peter Ball, then sport editor of Time Out where I worked. Such a great atmosphere and such a great performance by the team and the most gut wrenching decisions against us. We trailed out hemmed in by delirious Hammers supporters singing "I'm For Ever Blowing Bubbles" and I can't hear it sung on TV matches without feeling sick. "Ipswich,Ipswich ...!!"

Loved tonight's performance even after 60 years a supporter. As soon as WW backed off I felt we might win. But the performance kept getting better. Real feeling that we are getting a collective winning mind-set. Anybody who comes on here tonight and just wants to disrespect other supporters for whatever reason (too negative, too positive etc) is only talking about themselves. Whoever you are it's not about you, guys! COME ON YOU BLUES.

Ipswich Town 2-1 Fleetwood Town - Match Report
at 21:02:37

Great afternoon at PR. Great noise in second half (!!) Agree on Morsy, he was only rolled once in the whole game and kept us on the front foot. Chaplin's goal was a real "No 10's goal" drifting across as if linking up and wham. They scored with a very clever cross rather than bad defending. It went way over Toto, Walton wouldn't have got there and Donacien guilty of ball watching I think but man did he make up for it at the end. Fleetwood were decent and I would be gobsmacked if they went down - we had extra energy and bite and that won us the game! Happier days! Come on you Blues!

Frantic first half with both sides pressing like their lives depended on it. When the ball came down Town always seemed to have the greater control and forward thinking.I wasn't bothered. Bonne's goal was even cheekier than the last raid on a goalkeeper. He is a cool guy. The centre backs seemed stronger and more aggressive - body language counts. Chaplin's goal was pure skill. If any game was a turning point this may be it. we will talk about a poor Pompey performance but if they had scored early - no doubt it would have been different. Morsy and Evans the wy to go = always.

Cook is No Gamechanger
at 21:34:25

Some very good points. Of course a new manager would get everyone excited. In the last few years every new manager has got supporters excited - almost to the point of embarrassing accidents. I suspected this was going to happen as did a few supporters I spoke to. The anger comes from unrealistic expectations. The gods of sport don't listen to us mortals. What is need now is some calm. Write off promotion if you like but we need a long and I mean long period of understanding. We are building from the bottom, it isn't just a bad dream we will quickly wake up from and as a wise supporter said recently (GrumpyOldMan - cigar! !) take every victory as a blessing. And you never know ....

Looked at highlights. He looks very useful. Compact, strong, fairly quick. Always looking forward and like a good batsman seems to have time.

Blues Target Millers Midfielder Crooks
at 21:27:30

I saw the game at PR near the beginning of last season.I had come up from London and stayed at the Penta and had to contend with far too may happy Millers after. It was the game that changed the commonly held idea that promotion would be a doddle for us - it was a key game and most games of the 8 or so I've seen us lose on iFollow this season follow the same pattern, and some of our wins too! Rotherham didn't retreat. They were much bigger, stronger and more direct and Crooks was at the heart of that. He probably had one of his best games but if we can blend that with some real goal scorers we will get there. Dominate the b----rs and get the ball in the net.

Leave the team alone. Why would they "throw Cook under the bus"? Makes no sense. There is a total lack of confidence out there. Seen it before. Some talented players who have proved themselves before.Probably half the squad need to change, but chucking out our talented home grown players would be madness. Why otherwise have an academy and bring them forward? Need a wise experienced manager.
