I liked his effort, without seeing much of his real qualities. Same with Egeli. Too early to go overboard, but I'm looking forward to seeing more of these two. No offence to Al Hamadi, but Azon has obviously got a better pedigree and a better touch.. and it's nice to see the lad putting himself about. Little worried he could be a sulky, lazy one, but he looks like he has a bit of mongrel about him. Really like to see what he's like in front of goal. |

I just think they make the rule so slack it's so easy to avoid using academy players. Even the wording " home-grown" player is confusing. Means a player who comes through the system in any team in the UK. Why not enforce it that if you want 9 subs... make sure you have a club developed player in the matchday squad. ie Humphreys instead of Taylor, for instance. Or stick an under 21 as a sub. Laws seem to be in place more as a get around. |

Was it more Sheff U trying, at least, to play football rather than us sitting back? There will be teams who’ll look at last night's game and the Derby game... and just sit back even further to frustrate us. We can only hit teams on the break if they come onto us. Even so.... Philogene has his shooting boots on. Whatever style.... we have to shoot better. Big improvement. And think Egeli and Nunez aren't scared of shooting from distance. |

Why can't he be a bit more glamorous? When you have a one on one.... great opportunity for glamour ala Omari. Not sure his job specifics are just to do the unglamorous side of the game. He had a few opportunities to take on the full back one on one. Is it his role or just his lack of ability? |
 | Forum Reply | Mcateer at 07:20 13 Sep 2025
Thought he was one of the weaker players. Early days, but difficult to see why we paid so much for him. If he continues to work hard, I'll stay patient, but not really seeing anything special so far. |

Just see Matusiwa aa a starter every game.... and likely to be a 100 minute player. Think it's a toss up between Cajuste and Nunez who starts beside him. |
 | Forum Reply | Club developed player at 06:52 13 Sep 2025
Not really much of an incentive to bring through academy players when you just have to name just one academy player in the 25, and he never even makes the matchday squad to get the full allocation of 9 subs. |
 | Forum Reply | Nunez is pure class!! (n/t) at 06:16 13 Sep 2025
Won't be popular but want him to start in place of Cajuste. Think we can struggle in retaining the ball and controlling the midfield, Cajuste is great when he rolls his marker and strides out with the ball, but it doesn't come off every time and sometimes puts us under pressure when he loses possession. Just wonder if Nunez can offer that bit more control in midfield. That first half.... we were under the cosh for a bit possession-wise, although Sheffield Utd didn't have enough to hurt us. |

Thought we needed an academy raised player in the squad so we could have 9 subs. |

I kind of liked him because he was such a obvious hate figure and pantomime villian, yet never went away and kept on bouncing ( literally) back up again when he got his marching orders. His spats with Lambert amused me. I think he is a genuinely good lower league manager..... and I guess why he keeps on getting jobs. |

Egeli and Adversity live together in perfect harmony Side by side with the Super Blues,oh Lord, much better than Al Hamadi. [Post edited 12 Sep 11:32]

I think this game has been sold ( a bit too much) as the start of our season. I didn't realise till yesterday that Sheffield Utd were bottom with 0 points ( because I'm just only really interested in Town), but they're still a good side who nearly got that second auto spot. Head says it will be a draw as I can't see Sheff U keep on losing, but heart says we've got to win a game at some point. Just want to see us look more dangerous. Maybe it's too early for Ivan or Egeli, but I'm thinking Akpom might be the one tonight. I'm actually looking forward to this one. Think there's a bit of tension attached to this game which just adds to it. |

It's a great league... why do we need additional jeopardy? So what about the teams in 5th and 6th place who won't get 3rd or 4th place with 3 or 4 games to go... but are pretty much guaranteed a play off spot. They'll just put a weakened side out for the last few games to rest their players for the PO's. You can lessen the number of dead rubber games on one hand, but generate more dead rubber games on the other. It will just increase the feeling of injustice. Isn't the point of getting promoted because you deserve it over a season. [Post edited 11 Sep 12:50]

Think you've hit the nail on the head. Told my under 5's team they need to get their sh1t together and score more than the opposition. Never looked back. |

There wasn't that many dead rubber matches at the end of last season. Its just that clubs like PNE get that extra sniff of a chance. What the EFL should say to Risdale is that they'll also be relegation play-offs for clubs 8th from bottom to reduce dead rubber games. Bet he won't be so enamoured with that. It's already a unfair system which we just about have got used to because it does offer that extra bit of excitement and opportunities for a few more clubs.... why push it even further? Question for you, mate.. do you ever watch football or just look at stats? This isn't a computer game or whatever. Kipre was WB's POTS a couple of season's back. Sorry, but I think stats can assist, tweak and/or optimise at a higher level, but what the f@ck is wrong with going mostly with a gut feeling or opinion . Bit old school, I know.. |
 | Forum Reply | There are people on here who think O’Shea is better than Wolf at 12:04 10 Sep 2025
Exactly. We need to score more goals. Let's not sugar-coat it... both Greaves and O'Shea have mad mistakes that have seemingly cost us points, but Mckenna isn't George Graham II and wants 1-0 wins. So far, I'm more worried about the front 4 misfiring. Let's hope tbe new signings breathe new life into our front line. Really not that bothered about O'Shea - him and Greaves will do OK. |

"If O'Shea hadn't stayed, Wolfy WOULD have been playing every week." I don't think that's true at all. Don't really think McKenna fancies Woolfy as a starting player. If O'Shea gets injured, Kipre is likely to start in front of Woolfy. I thought Woolfy did well when called upon in tbe PL, but it's obvious McKenna doesn't really see him as nothing more than a back up. I genuinely believe Woolfy has been over-hyped a bit as this Rolls-Royce player who's the Suffolk Beckebauer. A Rolls Royce defender is someone who can effortlessly shift gears and over power and outrun strikers - but he couldn't do that, even he's no slouch or pushover. He has good feet, but I think he's overrated as to his contribution to passing out from defence. We miss Morsy more for that. Would have been very happy Woolfy being a back up player here, but I'll stick with Kierans judgement on O'Shea and Woolfy, even though O'Shea isn't 20 times better than Woolfy - I think he is an obvious upgrade. |
