|Who is the scariest person you've ever met?|
at 14:25 13 Feb 2020
I ended up in the wrong end at the Rangers v Ipswich friendly (1982 I think). Very scary few minutes until they confirmed that I was a) Ipswich and b) Not a catholic. After that they couldn’t have been more friendly. I don’t remember much about the match or the walk back to the station as a few of them got me very, very drunk.
I once played up against big Sam Allardyce in a charity match. That is one lovely, scary guy. One of his legs was as big as me. He apologised to me after I nearly knocked myself out by running into him. As I said - lovely, scary guy.

I also think January will be a good indication of where we are, and not just in terms off league position. I think we all agree that the squad is too big and that some will probably be shown the door, especially now that we are out of two cups and in the knockout stages of the daft cup. I also think the balance of the squad isn’t right. We currently have no full backs and are a centre-half light. A creative central midfielder would also be nice. Because of this, it is difficult to find your best 18 never mind 11. Players who shouldn’t get anywhere near the first team squad have been given game time out of necessity. If PL gets the balance of the squad right, then squad rotation should be a natural process. Players pick up knocks or suspensions and if you have used your bench wisely, there are good players ready to take their place.

What would happen if Boris stands down at the 11th hour? Who would have the authority to ask the EU for an extension? Genuine questions btw

Please be warned:
I have received a scam email from a bogus tv licensing company requesting my bank details. The email address in the body of the message is not mine and my licence is due for renewal in October not July as stated. The email is headed Email info UK-656.

Barry Fry to ME:
‘Are you coming over in a couple of weeks?’
ME: ‘can do Baz, how about lunch?’
BF: ‘Lunch is on me if you’ll take Bassong off us on a free.’
ME: i’f you throw in a nice bottle you’ve got a deal.’
What’s not to like? 33 year old has-been (good in his day) with no recent game time.
|This Irish border malarkey!|

I don’t usually get involved in political posts because of the usual vitriol that’s involved but this seems quite civilised so far.
I, like many others failed to see the need for an Irish border or a backstop agreement. However, Simon Coveney, the Irish deputy PM put across a fair counter-argument on Andrew Marr last weekend. He insisted that the ROI would not jeopardise their relationship or indeed their membership of the EU just to avoid upsetting the Uk.

I have never understood why a football club has to pay anything to a player’s agent. Surely a player’s agent should be payed by the player. As has recently been suggested in the press, surely this is open to abuse and corruption.

I remember Blackpool being in similar dire straits a few years back. A quick check on Wikipedia tells me it was 2014/15 when they only had eight first team players on their books two weeks before the season started.

I have enjoyed watching the games and Women’s football has come a long way. I didn’t see today’s game as I was working but having watched the England/Japan game I would say England’s midfield is all over the place. The players don’t appear to know instinctively where they need to be on the pitch. I’m sure this will improve as the level of coaching improves. For example, Parry came on as sub on the left wing and when we lost the ball it took her about 30 seconds to tuck in. This was drummed into us at a very young age. That said, I am very impressed with the lionesses and I am looking forward to Thursday’s game.

I must say I was surprised by the pundit’s post match comment about coaching goalkeepers. She inferred that goalkeepers are coached to move off their line and may have to be re-trained to stay on the goal line until the ball is kicked. Moving forward before the kick is against the rules and needs stamping out. Whether that is done via VAR or the fourth official doesn’t matter. Why should we make it easier for goalkeepers, it is a PENALTY.

I think Elder was offered to us rather than us looking. As soon as talks between Evans and Knudsen’s agents came to a head we snapped Elder up, good business Imo. As for RB, I agree with you. Spence needs competition in that position. For years (and several managers) now it seems to have been a tactic at Ipswich to allow crosses to come into our box at will. We got away with it a bit when Bart was at his best but it just seems crazy to me.
