Leiston FC one win from joining the same FA Cup round as Ipswich
at 15:26 14 Oct 2020

They're on a good run in the cup having seen off AFC Telford last night on pens. Draw is 1pm tomorrow on Talksport to see who they face a week on Saturday for a place in the 1st Round Proper.

Just had a positive covid test result
at 12:36 14 Oct 2020

Despite not having symptoms.

I signed up to that ONS survey many of you may have been sent a letter about - they seem to randomly select households. Slightly strange however as I had my first of these weekly tests last Tuesday morning and the result came back yesterday afternoon, over 7 days later.

It's been a very stressful 24 hours as I've been out and about in London with friends and had a few work meetings. NHS Test and Trace only got in touch with me this morning so I've done most their job for them but actively contacting people. It's how I imagine calling around after a positive STI test feels.

It all just seems messy. I was tested as part of the survey so they probably don't expect a positive test, it's more for gathering data, so I imagine it goes to a lab on low urgency. Still though.

I'm now free to leave 'isolation' from Friday having spent 7 days possibly infecting everyone. I have used a mask wherever possible and haven't been coughing so probably not spreading it so easily.

Just thought readers may benefit from a 'local story' on how Test and Trace is going.

Messi to City
at 10:23 27 Aug 2020

Gathering some pace, although many still seem to think he could stay at Barca which is also possible.

I was just thinking though, if he signed for City and we hosted them in a cup - Lionel Messi could be playing at Portman Road next season. I know it’s ifs and buts but that’s a mad thought.

Clubs biggest rivals ranked
at 12:09 7 Jul 2020

Just seen on instagram a post where fans have voted to show who their club's biggest rivals are.

For us it is apparently: Norwich (81%), Colchester (57%), West Ham (43%), Southend (33%), Cambridge (19%).

I'm surprised to see Cambridge in there and I thought Sheffield Utd or Peterborough may challenge although the 'Blunts' rivalry may have died away a bit since its heydays against Warnock's side.

For other clubs that have us as a rival:

Norwich - We're 1st (70%)
Southend - We're 4th (44%) (behind Colchester, Orient and Gillingham)
Colchester - We're 2nd (71%), behind Southend

I don't know what the %'s relate to but I'll try and find a link online.

Spending the day reading through historic ITFC articles
at 14:28 25 Apr 2020

66 years ago on Monday - ‘Scott Duncan one of the longest-serving managers in football has taken Ipswich from the Southern League in 1937 to the Second Division’ (this was 1954).

My knowledge of Ipswich pre Bobby is limited so enjoying today’s history lesson.

Quiz - Does anyone know who we replaced in the football league when voted in on 31 May 1938?

Hadn't seen this until today

Apologies if a repost. This was a time when the Blades/Town rivalry was pretty fiery.
