Next manager - The likeliest options and some analysis
at 16:16 26 Nov 2020

Don't get me wrong there's plenty of pros but it's a risky appointment. I agree that tried and tested hasn't worked but when I look at the players that enter management with their former clubs they just seem to have a bit more about them than Dyer.

He's a solid youth coach and will probably be a decent manager one day but I'm not sure a season as important as this for Ipswich is worth allowing him to 'find his feet'.

Magilton did well as a first timer but I feel like he had a bit more about him. I just worry Dyer carries higher risk and I would probably say there's more examples of former players flopping than winning promotion.

I like the guy and would back him, however.

Am I the only one that thinks Dyer will take us to League Two?

Odds on for the Celtic job too if Neil Lennon goes.

I've not seen Garry Monk's name mentioned yet.

He's more used to Championship and may want another job at that level but doesn't have an excellent win % with his last two clubs Birmingham and Sheff Weds. However there were unique circumstances at those clubs I feel. He did have a good win % at Leeds, Boro and Swansea.

He could see it as an opportunity at another decent sized club to get a promotion under his belt to build his profile and get his teeth into a club where the owner is not so trigger happy with managers like at Leeds & Sheff Weds.

Derby the next Ipswich?
at 13:15 26 Nov 2020

Yeah the satisfaction of them throwing money at it every year and then throwing it away at the last hurdle is a joy to watch.

I think what their fans have been through in the last few years is close to as torturous as us. At least we don't tease much hope, we are very clearly a flop of a club in recent years whereas their fans get all the foreplay with no climax.

They have enjoyed a better brand of football I suppose.

Norwich
Derby
Reading

for me. I don't mind Leeds as much as most.

Tier 2 then

It would have made us the only football team in the top 5 divisions in Tier One.

Really looking forward to tonight nevertheless

Over the years we’ve seen Town step up against stronger teams at home. I’m thinking back to Derby and West Ham at home etc. Games against top sides midweek at PR under lights can be quite fruitful but I think the fans are often loudest at these games. I’m hopeful tonight we’ll step up and show more of our personality than the dud Saturday performance.

That was the Community Shield I’m afraid.

We were the last competitive club game there as the FA Cup final was held before us.

Final nit now picked.

I'll tell you what, the funniest thing on TV

Agreed. Him trying to put helium into egg is my series highlight. I’m a huge Taskmaster fan but agreed that this season is missing something. I don’t think the tasks are requiring as much lateral thinking as usual. Literally stick spaghetti into grapefruit and making a picture out of balloons is a little weak.

Will stick by it though.

Doing a taskmaster with friends this week for my birthday incidentally. Task one is to throw a piece of paper into a bin in the most dramatic fashion so open to ideas

Some interesting outsiders in Frittelli and Langer. Expect them to fade away but seems like there will be a lot of low scoring whilst the green stay soft.

Agreed. I ended up adding him and a couple of others:

DeChambeau £5 E/W @ 8/1
Hatton £5 E/W @ 28/1
Schauffele £3 E/W @ 14/1
Morikawa £1 @ 33/1
Molinari £1 E/W @ 100/1

and then the missus asked to be £3 E/W on Rahm.

Probably the most I've ever stuck on a tournament but hoping it adds to the excitement.

Tough start for Bryson.

May not have any choice but to go through with Gillingham currently losing to Arsenal U21s.

Need a new TV series to get into - Sky, Netflix ideally as Amazon is fiddly
at 11:47 10 Nov 2020

I don't watch many long-running dramas etc these days but some of the recently ITV dramas have been worth a quick watch if you like crime drama - Honour, The Sister, Des etc.

Also, not a series, but we watched The Invisible Man on Sunday night on Sky Movies (free) and I thought it was going to be some rubbish ghost/horror film but it's actually not that at all and a very good thriller. I thoroughly recommend it for a night in with a glass of red.

I've not really answered your question there.

Controversially saying ‘the guard ensures it’s safe to open the doors’.

The striking guards unions will love that nod for their safety critical roles.

The only saving grace of the international break is four days of golf porn from Augusta. I think it'll still be enjoyable without the crowds.

Who is everyone going for?

So far I've gone for two of the favourites:

DeChambeau £5 E/W @ 8/1
Hatton £5 E/W @ 28/1

Will probably add a couple of outsiders nearer Thursday. With only two European winners in the last 20 years I'll be tempted to opt for some big hitting Americans. Although no 'home' crowd could give Europeans more of a chance this year.

So I see. Genuinely happier now.

If Pompey get some crap tie like Doncaster away it will make today far less painful

In addition to next week's international break. Would rather fixture congestion when we're locked in with nothing else to look forward to. Now I've got to somehow fill two spare Saturdays.

Fingers crossed they'll move another game forward like they did with Blackpool.

Looks like Norwood is back in the squad today for us, so we’ve gone weak.
