Edwards MK Dons Talks Claim
at 13:37:11

Started the season well, but spent most of the time covering his Full Back, which ultimately leads to a less forward thinking formation.
I personally would like us to sign him up, but as people have said, if we really wanted him then we should have signed him before now.
No one should blame him in trying to get himself a contract, as he needs to look after himself and his family...especially if ITFC have not offered anything concrete
Good luck in whatever you do Gwion
Contract Options Exercised On Jackson and Donacien
at 16:25:25

Excellent News.
Both have lots of potential and played correctly hopefully we will see much more from them both !!!
Ipswich Town 3-1 Fleetwood Town - Match Report
at 19:39:47

Great first half performance with notable contributions from Edwards, Norwood, Dobra and Kenlock all looking adventurous going forward, getting players into the box and scoring 3 goals
Understandably took their foot off the gas in the 2nd half, and with the substitutions really had an end of season feel about it.
Good three points, good first half performance, but glad it is all over
Roll on 21/22 season
New House owner, new paint and new brushes...COYB !!!
Colchester Linked With Triple Blues Move
at 11:15:38

Good luck to all three of them, however as others have said unsure they have been 'excellent' for us !!!
They have been at the club a few years and very well paid as well, but that does not make them good servants. They have had a privileged time, and in all honesty who has come in for these players in the last few years who will offer better terms that we do / did.
The lady who has worked in the office for 20+ years on a fraction of their wages can be considered a 'good servant'.

I will still wish them luck in whatever they do and thank them for their efforts !!!
Former Striker Rhodes Linked
at 17:14:59

You can get whatever striker you like... however if you have no creativity in the team then you will never score goals.
Midfield is top priority IMO
Still not convinced that you need 2 defensive minded CMs playing in a 4-2-3-1 formation. This is only League 1. If we were playing a cup game against Championship or Premier League teams then yes, you need to be careful when getting players forward. Surely 4 defenders and GK suffice in L1 ???
Should expect midfielders to defend AND attack !!!
U23s Confirm Play-Off Place Via Forest Victory
at 16:44:43

Players in the box, midfielders busting a gut to support them...fantastic !!!
Perhaps PC should make the 1st Team watch that game as a learning exercise.
Massive well done to Butcher and Dyer !!!
Cook: A Really Nice Small Step
at 16:21:34

Please do not make the big mistake of keeping Luke Chambers
He is past it as a player even at this level, and has far too much influence off the pitch.
Is not a leader and does not lead by example.
We need to stop being a nice club and be more ruthless on and off the pitch.
We have have no coaching roles available and experienced England International and true ITFC Legends currently in post. No need for 2nd rate ex defenders at best.
I am sorry if that is harsh but we need to stop rewarding mediocrity !!!
If you want to make changes to players cosy attitudes then yo need to start at the source.
IMO you will regret this decision if this is not one of the first decisions you make
Cook: If We Don't Turn Up Tomorrow, We'll Get Beat
at 20:22:22

Needs to be planning for the future.
Skuse isn't the future nor will he bring any creativity
Sears is not the future so give Simpson a run
Why not try a back 4 of KVY, Nsiala, Woolfenden and Kenlock ???
...and where is Wilson, surely not still injured ???
Parrott Linked With Loan Return
at 10:46:02

We could not afford Waghorn
Apparently Derby TRIPLED his wages to get him to sign so he will be earning in excess £30k-£40k and was leaving because of that as well as other reasons well before Hurst arrived
Only scored 3 goals in 28 appearances this season !!!
Having said all that, if you could get the 31yo on a season long loan would be a good addition in L1, but would need to address the lack of creativity in the midfield !!!
Parrott Linked With Loan Return
at 16:38:52

If we had a team that created chances you may see a different Troy Parrott, however he also went 14 games at Millwall without scoring.
There again any striker needs opportunities to score, not just feeding on scraps.
I doubt Harry Kane would score many for our current side.
I personally would prefer to see Simpson given a chance, certainly for the rest of this season (if fit !!!)
Cook: If You Want to Be Here, We Need to See More
at 08:28:24

“You look at systems we’ve played this year, we’re probably one of the clubs in the division that have probably played every system you can play in football in pursuit of trying to gain success. Eventually, it comes down to calibre of player in your football club.”

I am unsure we have really tried every system !!!
Certainly not for a sustained period.
We tried 4-4-2 for about 45-60 mins in one game, but most of the time it has been 4-2-3-1 or 4-5-1 or 3-5-1-1.
4-4-2 is the simplest formation to play, but that seems to leave our defence exposed without the 2 holding CMs and wingers covering. The players certainly in midfield seem incapable of defending and attacking with only Downes looking anywhere near capable.
Cook: If You Want to Be Here, We Need to See More
at 14:43:09

It is not all about the strikers
We were linked with Clarke-Harris and Wyke in the summer, they’re 1st and 2nd in the scoring table, however in all honesty they would not be if we had signed them.
This is because we have very little creativity and therefore do not create too many scoring opportunities
We are defensively solid because we play 4 or 5 defenders AND holding midfielders.
The attacking wingers are more likely to be found in their own half and when we do get the ball in the offensive third, there are very limited options to aim for.

As a system we sit too deep and cannot attack at pace as it takes 5 backwards and sideways passes before we think about a forward pass.

I though Jackson makes some good runs but with no one willing or able to find that through ball it does look as though he is indeed running round like a headless chicken.
Again it does make you wonder what the players do in training as surely if they know Jackson or Sears are playing they must surely have talked about and trained in how we will exploit those strengths.
The same with Norwood, or Parrott, or indeed Hawkins.
You need to play to players strength...it is simple...isn't it ???
Ipswich Town 0-0 MK Dons - Match Report
at 18:07:34

Three games ago we pile players forward and into the box and were rewarded twice in 10 mins, but then thought it was job done...and have not done it since...and not had another attempt on target
We still have no one in the box when we get the ball out wide.
The only quality was Edwards in the first half where he laid it on a plate for Dobra with a superb ball but he missed. Apart from that there was very little to cheer.
Sears could not hit a barn door, and Drinan got goal side only to stop and com backwards.
Time for a complete clear out.
We are well financed on and off the pitch (apparently) plus we will make a HUGE wage saving from not renewing these 20+ lucrative contracts which can be re-invested in say 8 players.
Edwards Linked With Sunderland and Preston
at 21:39:53

A very good player on his day but over the last 3 seasons has needed to concentrate more on covering for the inept FBs the attacking the opposing FBs.
When he does attack he generally only has one play to cross to !!!.
IMO worth another year at least.
Not the real deadwood that this club needs to rid itself of !!!
Parrott in For Norwood as Blues Face Rochdale
at 15:28:01

Why all the negativity regarding Jackson
Has only played 45 mins as a 2 with Norwood and then only 15 mins with Drinan.
Needs to be given a real chance and as he has already proved (with Norwood) can be a good striker as part of a front 2.
Give the lad a chance like many of the other under performers and not just one or two games !!!
Chambers: Absolutely I Want to Stay, My Ambition For the Club is Unchanged
at 12:24:29

Unfortunately time has caught up with Chambers
Caught out of position too many times and when in position as we saw again on Friday unfortunately too slow to stop mediocre L1 strikers.
Thanks Luke, but you were ruined by your great mate Mick who persistently played you out of position (RB) and you were never the same player.

Unsure why people think Chambers and Skuse will make good coaches...and a position can be 'found' for them. We are a 3rd division club and cannot afford to be sentimental.

This club needs a step change, and the only way that can happen is by allowing many (most) of the out of contract players to leave. Many of these players cannot get any better or in some cases do not want to get any better or change their ways.
ITFC is far too soft on and off the pitch and many players seem far too comfortable producing mediocrity.

In PC we believe COYB !!!
Ipswich Town 2-1 Bristol Rovers - Match Report
at 17:13:31

Players in the box which resulted in 2 goals in the first 11 minutes was a real positive step change, however it seemed as though the players all thought that was it for their afternoons work.
Rovers got back into the game and after that we were outplayed by 23rd place Bristol Rovers (possession, shots and shots on target) and as before we lacked any leadership on or off the pitch with many just waiting for someone else to do something...again.
A welcome 3 points, however these are very worrying times.
That said I do hope Cook does not see 45mins of playing Norwood and Jackson up top as and 'i told you we could not play that formation' exercise and we persist with a 2 up top formation, although would be better in a straight 4-4-2 as we do not have enough pace for 3 at the back

One question...where is Myles Kenlock ???
Edwards Looking to Get Back Among the Goals
at 10:10:18

In all honesty, If Gwion did not have to spend much of his time chasing back and covering for his out of position full back and more time going forward then I think we will see more of an end product from him, however if like the last 18 months we only have one player at most in the box then creating assists will be even more difficult.
Also like many others, play him in his best position (on the left where he is most effective).
Having wingers going forward leave the defence exposed as the likes of Chambers and Ward struggle to mobile enough for the modern day FB
The whole ethos of the club needs to change and we will see more out of players such as Edwards !!!
Town Spend £341,622 on Agents' Fees
at 18:46:51

We should be able to save an absolute fortune this summer with only one or two contract renewals of the 20+ out of contract !!!
No many seem to warrant a new contract IMO
Cook: We Need to Be So Much Better Than That
at 20:53:47

Ipswichbusiness you are 100% correct
PC needs to find some genuine leaders in the summer.
No one currently wants to take that responsibility or lead by example.
These are experienced players who have played hundreds of times at a higher level.
Some are even international footballers.
