| News Comment | Hladky: I'll Know Next Week Whether I'll Be at Ipswich or Somewhere Else at 18:32:10
To me that says Hladky is waiting on another club. Yes he was good playing out from back last season but I feel more confident in our defense with a match sharp Walton behind them. For all his good points Hladky did make numerous mistakes in 2nd half of season and the prem is an unforgiving league. I do feel though we may see a change in No1 and 1 of them going and the other being back up. |
| News Comment | Town Confirm Death of Fan Taken Ill at 18:24:55
Tragic news RIP, thoughts are with family and friends at this difficult time. 100% agreed Paulc. Was in upper tier of West Stand and disgusting to see so many with their phones out and sending images / videos. Bet they would feel different if 1 of their own family. Absolutely embarrassing but a sad indictment of our society that by many it perceived to be normal behaviour. |
| News Comment | Kompany: Portman Road's a Special Place at 20:15:54
Class from VK. Classy as a player and seems to be carrying that into management. Was a good footballing match with the intensity of a cup tie. Credit to the 2 clubs for agreeing the right pricing structure which resulted in the big crowd. After the last 10-15 years its so good to see the ground bouncing again this season. Can you imagine the noise had we somehow managed to get a late goal |
| News Comment | Tractor Girls Finish Third After Final Day Defeat at 00:23:55
To those criticising, really....... Given where they have come from the last few seasons, the team have made amazing progress. With the Cup run, really put themselves on the map. Yes they seemed to run out of steam at the end of the season but performed superbly.Think if most had been given 3rd at start of the season they would have said would be decent season. They are such a young team so still work in progress, onwards and upwards. |
| News Comment | Palace Eyeing Downes at 19:51:58
Lets be realistic about any potential fee, before a meltdown starts. Only one I can think of from League 1 to go for big money is Dele Ali and that was a fee eventually rising to £5m. No disrespect but Downes isnt in his league. On that basis 3m is probably best we can hope for. |
| News Comment | Brazil Announces Semi-Retirement at 17:04:56
Why be surprised, many on here are only happy thinking they are being funny slagging people off. Alan has been a legend both on the pitch and airwaves and deserves his semi retirement. |
| News Comment | Blades Linked With £3m Woolfenden Move at 10:33:44
Would love us to get more but what we dont know is how much the club is projected to lose this season? Maddison, who is arguably 1 of the best players in the league is going for 2.5 mill, baring in mind offensive players go for more money normally. Also the player will be looking at probably a x4 wage increase so could easily have his head turned. Would love to see him stay as he was one of the players I was looking forward to seeing this season but an offer around that mark maybe hard to turn away....hope I am wrong |
| News Comment | Talks on Nsiala's Bolton Move Ongoing at 12:16:51
Couldn't agree more ArnieM. Sadly some are only happy when things go wrong so they can moan. The abuse dished out to some players is personal, pathetic and embarrassing to see. Sadly though this isn't something new from so called supporters of this club and has been all too common over the last 20-25 years but sadly is getting worse not better |
| News Comment | Lambert: Germany Trip Beneficial at 08:59:34
so we lose to a team mid table in the Bundesliga with some 1st team starters (Prob 4) and the world ends..... thought our support was supposed to be great and positive??!! or are these keyboard warriors ones that don't actually go and get behind the team? |
| News Comment | Town Set for Mings Windfall at 20:43:13
NicRams, at least a bit of sense here. This extra money will effectively be invested by reducing the number of player sales. £9m is a big hole and these windfalls will help bridge that gap. |
| News Comment | Millwall Boss Tight-Lipped on Bialkowski Link at 09:02:04
ArnieM, absolutely spot on. we do have an overhyped view on him based on his shot stopping ability. He does, and did during his POTY seasons, have a tendency to conceed soft goals. think this is why none of the bigger bitters in the championship have come in for him. |
| News Comment | Pompey Linked With Renewed Harrison Interest at 22:33:14
Jas0999, just remind me how much of the season Harrison missed through injury? so Keane hardly more injury prone based on last season. Also Clarke windfall would be great, some will prob be reinvested but people need to remember as result of relegation we have to cut our cloth accordingly as turnover is down 9m on last season. and that isn't taking into account the deficit the club used to operate at the higher turnover. |
| News Comment | Birmingham Revive Bart Interest at 23:59:03
He has been decent for us, though I think we do have an overinflated opinion of him that isn't necessarily universally shared. Yes he makes some great saves but is suseptable to conceeding too many where you look and think could he have done better. This i think ultimately stopped him going to a prem club. That said an excellent servent to the club, but the time is right. He needs to move on to maintain the level and also given the massive drop in income we really need to lose his wage. hopefully we can get a reasonable fee, poss in excess of 2m. if he does move on the all the best. |
| News Comment | Blues in Talks to Sign Gills Keeper at 12:58:58
New keeper is inevitable. Bart is 1 of our few sellable assets that would generate a few million on top of the fact he is our highest earner by some way. Gerkens extension would also put him on a fairly high wage. people fail to realise there will have to be some outs in order to cover sone of the loss in income and also to fund any additions. |
| News Comment | Lambert: I Thought We Were Brilliant at 19:22:51
Great result today. reality can't see us signing many, we will have to cut our cloth so come on be realistic. we will be going back to our roots, good youth set up, players coming through the ranks with the odd one being sold to balance the books. the squad is too big for league one so expect it to be trimmed |
| News Comment | Chambers Returns as Blues Switch to 3-5-2 at Wigan at 14:32:20
It is actually Kenlock in probably the most suited position as in a flat 4 he gets caught out of position too often which stretches the other 3 into positions they shouldn't be in. At least this way when he is caught forward there is more cover. I have always thought Kenlock could make left midfield as better going forward than defending. |
| News Comment | Ipswich Town 0-1 Sheffield Wednesday - Match Report at 18:00:48
Why is it still Knudsen fault? So many on here were slagging him off saying he was rubbish, etc. Now it's his fault because people actually realise he is better than Kenlock! Sorry to say it but Kenlock isn't strong enough and is far better in a back 5 where he plays as a wing back. He is better going forward than defending and in a 4 gets caught out of position too often. Bluearmy 81, the transfer "profit" doesn't even balance the books over that time as we don't generate enough income as contrary to some on here's belief we are not a big club in modern terms. Also just because no fees have been played do you think free transfers don't generate any substantial signing on fee? |
| News Comment | Judge Signing Confirmed at 20:32:09
We have to be realistic with the player contracts. Assuming we will now be offering champ wage and a wage if in league 1. That will put some off but has to be done otherwise we will be conducting a fire sale if the worst case happens and we have to significantly reduce the wage bill. |
| News Comment | Lambert: We Defended Fantastically at 12:47:28
Far from perfect. But the 11 on the pitch gave everything for the shirt. As a supporter that's what I want from my team as a minimum. Collins looked assured, Chambers looked better too, perhaps he has less to worry about as he finally has a competent partner, and isn't trying to hold things together himself. He showed some real guts to carry on after that heavy fall in 1st half, can imagine many would have gone off injured. The CC pairing with Skuse sitting in front I can see being a strong unit. Creativity we desperately need Huws to g stay fit as I can see him linking the midfield better. Did feel we sat too deep and while I can't knock the backs to the wall effort, too often we had everyone inside our box so as soon as the ball went out we had no one to hold it up so invited the pressure back. Still massive 3 points and hopefully a platform to build |
